In November 2018 I contacted Keystone Medical to see if I might be entitled to a new CPAP machine. Spoke with Jen who runs the Jim Thorpe office. Explained that my current CPAP worked fine but if a newer smaller version were available for travel I would like it. I further explained that I was only interested if a new CPAP was at "No cost to me". Jen stated that she would look into. Jen contacted me two weeks later, said that my insurance was requesting copies original sleep study which I got to her. Shortly after Jen contacted me and said that she had good news, I was eligible for a brand new CPAP at "No cost to me". The following week I went to Keystones office and Jen gave me the new unit. In 2019 I began receiving bills from Keystone for $85. I called and questioned this and was told by Jen that she would look into. She later told me that some insurance require a rental fee for CPAPs for a period of three to 10 months. I explained that she had told me that this unit was at "No cost to me" and that a rental fee, particularly a 10 month fee was not "no cost". I told Jen that I would return the machine ASAP. Returned the CPAP the following week. After return I continued to receive rental bills. I called and left a msg that I wanted to speak to the accounts manager. Received a return call a week later from Julie. I once again explained the situation, stressing the point that this unit was explicitly given to me as "No cost to me". Julie said that in December my insurance deductible had been met so it was no cost but it reset in January and thus I was being billed. I explained that "no cost to me" did not mean that it was free in December but that I had to pay a rental starting in January. I also told her that for the rental fee I could purchase outright a smaller unit. Julie said sorry but I had to pay. I explained that I was given false info and wanted to speak to her superior. She said they were unavailable. Never received a call back but continue to get bills.

In response to *** 's filed complaint. Unfortunately, we dont feel its our responsibility to explain to the customer how there chosen insurance providers policy operates. *** like most other people have deductables that need to be met. During the time frame he contacted us his deductable was met so, there was " no cost to him " However, at the start of the New Year his deductable was due, so thats why he recieved the bills. Our company did not misslead him in any way shape or form. He needs to contact his insurance company and have them send him a declarations page, if he doesnt have one, and this sort of info will be on that form.Thanks...-- Chris EPresidentKeystone Medical EquipmentCo owner American Surgical Supply Inc.
