Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:A lot has been said regarding [redacted] , to be fair to them I have filed a complaint (Reference ID: [redacted] ) so that they may officially reply to the claimsBut the issue of whether [redacted] failed to load the inflated pricing for the event or not is a seperate issue from whether that constitutes price gouging or not and I will leave that determination to the Oregon DOJ to decide Sincerely, [redacted] ***

Unfortunately, Mr. [redacted] has relied upon local news articles instead of facts in bringing this allegation of pricing gouging against Keystone Vacation Rentals.  Additionally, given the timing of the complaint, he may be attempting to defraud Keystone Vacation Rentals as he has already checked...

out of the unit and is looking for compensation instead of filing a complaint during the seven-month time period he could have before his requested arrival date.  Facts that Mr. [redacted] failed to reveal in his complaint are as follows: Keystone Vacation Rental’s pricing for the 2017 Solar Eclipse were in place August of 2016, almost five months before Mr. [redacted] placed his online hold for one of our condos through a third party service. The third party service, [redacted], began listing Keystone Vacation Rental’s condos late December 2016 and had multiple technical difficulties integrating their system with Keystone’s. During this time period during which [redacted] was attempting to correct listing and rate issues, Mr. [redacted] placed an online hold for one of our condos.  This hold was placed at 9:50 am PST on January 2nd, 2017.  Within an hour of receiving Mr. [redacted]’s hold request from [redacted], Keystone contacted him regarding [redacted]’s technical issues which included the nightly rate, lodging tax and bedding for his requested time period being incorrect.    [redacted] proceeded through their system to cancel the hold and at no time was Mr. [redacted] charged for that hold request.  He is welcome to provide substation to the contrary.  On January 4th, 2017 (two days after the initial hold request), Mr. [redacted] contacted us to reserve a condo.  After placing his reservation, had Mr. [redacted] felt he was ‘price gouged’, he could have easily cancelled the reservation.  Instead, Mr. [redacted] waited until after his stay to make the unsubstantiated claim based upon news articles he read where guests had stays cancelled months after having placed actual reservations, not holds, and had been charged for those reservations by the respective hotels (not vacation rentals) once the hotel operators realized they had not adjusted their pricing for the eclipse event.  Neither the placement of a reservation through [redacted] nor a payment rendered unto [redacted] occurred in Mr. [redacted]’s case nor was his hold cancelled months after being placed to adjust pricing as pricing had been set months before his hold was placed.  [redacted]’s Lodging Support and Market Manager have been made aware of Mr. [redacted]’s assertions and being a third party they will reply of their own accord.

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:  Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:As I stated on [redacted], if [redacted] has stated that they are at fault then have them provide an official written stating such. If pricing was in place 5mos before I booked then why wasn't that reflected on any travel sites, not just [redacted] whom I chose to book with. I do not know the difference between hold/reservation but [redacted] gave a confirmed conformation of my booking, Keystone then sent me a mail with the cost at twice what I booked on [redacted] and then told me to cancel my reservation with [redacted] and book directing with them. [redacted] was not aware of this as many hours were spent on the phone with them and they said they called Keystone who would not honor the rate.  They could find no other hotels for me and I did not want to lose a place for the Eclipse so I kept it but expressed my unhappiness with [redacted] and Keystone at the time.  I only found out that this be reported by many people across the area a few weeks before the event and decided to file complaints as was recommend by by the News and the Oregon Department of Justice. Finally to threaten  me with legal action for filing a complaint is not only ludicrous, but I think reflective of Ketstone's character.         [redacted] reference: [redacted]Sincerely, [redacted]   Sincerely, [redacted]

“As noted in our initial response, Mr. [redacted], [redacted] is a third party of whom we cannot force to write you the desired correspondence.  Regarding when pricing was set, it was in August 2016 and our website and other channel partners like [redacted] and many others reflected the accurate pricing.  This is why you choose to book with [redacted] as the pricing was inaccurate and thus more attractive.  [redacted]’s other travel sites, [redacted], [redacted], etc., also would show the inaccurate pricing since they all operate on [redacted]’s platform.  We have provided you documentation showing this integration error and [redacted]’s Market Mangers, at their discretion, will also provide documentation.  You were also notified of this issue hours after the hold request, not months like the news articles.  Additionally, [redacted] never charged you for the hold.   We would hope that all these facts and documentation would show we in no way price gouged or participated in the practices of hotel operators who may have chosen to as reported in the news. “ Keystone Vacation Rentals
