*** ***'s children were seen initially on 8/*/in our Manhasset location, at that time *** *** was told that both of his children would need to come back for cavitiesAt *** ***'s children's first visit to our office on 8/*/17, he signed a financial policy form which stated that anything
that is not covered by the patients insurance plan would be the parent/guardian financial responsibility and that the policy holders should be familiar with their policy guidelines (limitations, exclusions and maximums) Kiddsmiles does its best to explain future copays and costs, however if you have additional questions the policy holder should contact their insurance carrier for more informationAn estimated treatment plan was printed for each child and *** *** was told that we would send a predetermination to his insurance company and that he would receive a copy directly from GHI (that is the general rule of thumb that insurance companies send a copy of all correspondence to both the subscriber and provider)The treatment plan that was printed for each child stated that - treatment copays are subject to change and that our office only performs white fillings and that most insurance companies only pay for silver fillings and that the patient/parent would be responsible for the difference between silver and white fillings*** *** signed and initialed both of these treatment plans outlining his responsibilitiesI would be able to provide all the signed documents by *** *** for each child. *** *** stated that he did not receive anything from his insurance company GHI, Kiddsmiles does not have control over what the insurance company sends to the subscriber or if it had gotten lost in the mailKiddsmiles performed a service on 9/**/for both of the Patel children and *** *** was told an estimate of his responsibilities, there is never a guarantee of payment from the insurance company until all insurance claims have posted to the accountIn addition *** *** stated he was blindsided by the charges for the services Kiddsmiles performedWhen *** *** and I spoke I explained that we outlined the additional charges in writing on the treatment planned signed by *** ***, he stated to me that he did not in fact read anything he was signing regarding his responsibilities

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ***, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I believe there is a moral responsibility to let the patient know about the out of pocket costwhen I said I was blind sided I meant the financial responsibility didn't explicitly mentioned the total $ amount of out of pocket cost. The out of pocket cost could have been any fictitious number which nobody knew at that time.
