Was promised on the phone a refund would be issued, however owner has refused to do so. I booked a character dinner in advance via phone, and was told by whomever answered that in the event of a cancellation, "to give as much notice as possible, and we can definitely work with you and take care of that." I called to cancel the dinner 3 days in advance, and was told by the owner that refunds are "not their policy and it was not refundable." I explained that I was not told this over the phone, and if I had been, I would not have booked in advance. The owner then became hostile and said, "I'm not going to argue with you and I can tell you're not going to be happy anyway. It's like buying a ticket from [redacted] There are no refunds." Upon checking the Kid's Play website, there is no such disclaimer/policy, nor can they provide verification that I was given this policy in advance. Furthermore, there are no tickets or email receipts with the non-refundable ticket policy. Desired SettlementRefund for total purchase for character dinner, in amount of $54.88. Business Response Character dinner at Kid's Play is a monthly event that is open to a maximum of 15 families. Spaces are pre-booked via telephone or in person. All literature in our facility states that the payment is non refundable UNLESS we have people on a wait list. When customers book over the phone, we explain our policy. We NEVER tell customers that it is refundable with notice as Mrs. [redacted] suggests. The character dinner that she wanted to be refunded for did not have a wait list and therefore we were not able to refund her money. Kid's Play purchases food in advance for this event based on the number of people attending. Mrs. [redacted] was made aware of our policy at the time of purchase and she went through with the transaction. This has ALWAYS been Kid's Play's policy since we opened our doors in November 2012, and we have not had a problem until now. Thank you for your time in this matter. Gave a deposit for my soon to be 3 yr old daughter's party based on the fact they said they could have "Frozen" princesses perform.I was told that they were able to book Princess to attend my babies parties and I was so excited. I booked this party on Oct.2 and a week and half before my child's party I receive a phone call from the owner, and the first thing she says to me is " has anyone called you about your party". I responded, "No".she then goes on to tell me that she can not have the princess at my child's party due to... them changing owners and them being booked. I was very disappointed and disgusted by her lack of concern and the ability for her and her establishment to do something about this matter. She obviously does not know what it means to promise you child something and then not be able to deliver. She would not offer me a refund, after my child's party was planned there only to have the princess there to perform. I was not the one who couldn't deliver, KIDS PLAY was at fault for this matter so they should be willing to do something to make this right !!!I will not do business with them ever again !!! And then the owners tells me that I am the only person who feels this way!!!! WOW !!!Desired SettlementBecause they would refund me my deposit I am asking for my refund even though I am going through with the party because there is not enough time to change, locate and re-notify everyone.Business Response Ms.[redacted] did book a party with Kid's Play for late October for her daughter. Upon booking, she signed our Party Reservation Form that has the fine print on the bottom that says: TERMS and CONDITIONS: "Parties are booked on a first come, first serve basis. In order to confirm your reservation, a 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking. The balance on the party must be paid at the conclusion of the party. All add-ons are subject to AVAILABILITY."Ms.[redacted] wanted 2 princess characters to perform at her daughter's party. Princesses are party ADD-ONS which are SUBJECT to AVAILABILITY. We informed her that we would have to call the character production company that we contract with and when they get back to us we will let her know. Unfortunately, the character production company was completely booked for her party date. I called and let her know. We immediately tried to re-book her party which she did not want. I offered her a character from the same princess movie that her party was themed for at a discounted rate....she didn't want that either. She was incredibly difficult to work with and her complaints were not valid since we told her up front that ADD-ONS are subject to availability.Despite poor reviews on web-sites/social media, demanding constant phone calls, etc. I continued to try to make things right with Ms.[redacted]. Finally she accepted my final offer which was to move the party date (our very first suggestion) to late November when the character production company is availability.
