To whom it may concern, I am writing this letter in response to
a claim made against myself and my company Killeen Backflow Testing by Garrick
[redacted]. The incident took place at his home located at [redacted] On
July 12th, I contacted Mr. [redacted] about a backflow test he...

had talked
to me about doing a few weeks prior, wanting to schedule a time for me to come
and take care of this service for him. Mr. [redacted] had informed me that his
backflow device had apparently frozen over the winter and cracked the brass
valve body. I informed Mr. [redacted] that “I’m your man, I will come look at it
today and do my best to get it fixed for you in a timely matter.  As well as give you the best price
possible.  Mr. [redacted] said that sounds
great we will see you this afternoon. Upon arriving Mr. [redacted] was outside
waiting for me. We talked a little and I explained to         Mr. [redacted] about the price and that I
was giving him a great deal. As well as letting Mr. [redacted] know multiple times
that I can do it this price so low because I would be installing a rebuilt
backflow device. I installed the rebuilt device and tested the device while Mr.
[redacted] watched the whole time. There were no issues at all no leaks no problems
with the job that I had done for Mr. [redacted].
I did not have any insulation for
the pipes due to a prior job, so I informed Mr. [redacted] no problem I’ll be back
and get it taken care of for you as soon as possible. I left at 6:30 p.m.  I received a call around 7:45 saying that the
rebuilt device was leaking. I told Mr. [redacted] I would take care of it since this
was a minor issue at most and not to worry. I was not able to get back to Mr.
[redacted] for 4 days as we both had conflicting schedules. I did my best to get to
him as soon as I possible. On the fourth night, I sent Mr. [redacted] a
text knowing I had to unfortunately let him know that It would be another day
before I could get back out to his house. In my text, I apologized for this delay
and let him know that I wasn’t trying to not take care of his problem. But that
I was sorry and could understand that he was upset. I reassured him that I
would be come and fix the problem even though the leak was not caused from my
first visit.   I received a phone call
from Mr. [redacted] where he said something about taking farther action but nothing
about the police.  Mr. [redacted] started
talking about wanting his money back. I told him I would be there and we will
come up with a way to resolve this issue.   Upon Arriving at Mr. [redacted] home I could tell
Mr. [redacted] was very upset to the point of acting as though he was wanting to argue
and not wanting to work with me to fix his issue. He told me to cut the pvc that had installed out on the first visit. He then stated that I owed him $130.00
because he concluded that he could do my job and wanted his money back.  I informed Mr. [redacted] that I’m sorry but I
came and installed what you asked me too and was going to fix his other issue
that was not done by me. Mr. [redacted] got loud and in my face acting as though he
was trying to cause a seen so that he could get his money back and something
for free.  I informed Mr. [redacted] that I
install pvc from my supplier that I know and trust and don’t feel comfortable
installing one that I do not know where it came from. I even tried to show him
an itemized receipt showing a rebuilt Pvc that would only cost him 35.00 appose
to the 115.00 he paid (I will attach a copy of invoice). But Mr. [redacted] was so
hostile at this point that he wanted his way only. Both Mr. [redacted] and I had
both become very frustrated and both exchanged unprofessional words while going
back and forth. I decided to leave my saw as collateral and of good faith that
I would be back.  After leaving and cooling
down I returned to try and make this right. I went back to Mr. [redacted] home as he
and his friend were outside. I said Mr. [redacted] I’m sorry I was in the wrong and
that things got out of hand and let me make this better. I told Mr. [redacted] I can’t
refund him any money as I can’t make that a standard, but I can offer to go buy
the same pvc you bought and come install it at no extra charge. Mr. [redacted] said
No and became very aggressive getting in my face within inches saying just
touch me one time homeboy that’s all I need. I responded I’m not hear to fight I’m
hear to make this better. Mr. [redacted] made me feel uncomfortable and to an extent
threatened. I offered Mr. [redacted] to replace his device for a brand new one with
no extra charge. Mr. [redacted] said No and I told Mr. [redacted] if you can’t meet me on
that agreement then you must chalk it up as a loss and I walked away from the
high tensioned situation. I am sorry that I was not able to make things better
for this customer as I did try my best too.            In
my opinion Mr. [redacted] was wanting something for free and I would not be
surprised if this wasn’t the first time he has done this to local businesses.
Killeen Backflow Testing has had only this one complaint with over 150 customers
that have been completely satisfied I think that should do all the talking for
Killeen Backflow Testing, when I say Mr. [redacted] is out of line and completely
inaccurate with his statement and was wanting to swindled me out of money. Killeen
Backflow Testing prides itself in giving the best customer service that we
possibly can and will continue to provide excellent service. Sincerely,[redacted], Owner
