Kilmer's Painting and Handyman Service Reviews (3)

Stay away from this man. He is unreliable, unprofessional, [redacted] works for cash only, and constantly reminds you that you should be paying more than agreed for his service.

I met and agreed to hire this man while recovering from surgery. I needed very light work done on my postage stamp yard, postage stamp porch, and postage stamp concrete patio. Here are the items we agreed to as written on his work order:
Repair Front Door Latch
Power Wash front of townhome
Paint front porch rails white
Cut back juniper bushes, weed side front yard
Clear weeds and power wash patio
Cut back, remove weeds, one tree limb, one small sapling
Assemble Patio storage box

We walked through the yard, patio, he gave me a quote, and I accepted. He said he would ask me to purchase supplies and have them ready for him the next day. I did, he didn't. I bought Round Up, Exterior use Bleach, Chain Saw Oil, Chain Saw Chain, Paint, and some exterior furniture cleaner for me to use on patio furniture.

So he showed up the following day, began working. I had doctors appointments and errands to run prior to surgery. By the time I got home, I felt really bad and needed some rest. He wanted lunch, and I had agreed to feed him, so I got him lunch before my next round of errands. The results:

Badly hacked juniper bushes across the front of my home, debris left laying everywhere to be stepped on and carried into the house.
Broken antique crockery he didn't remove from the front porch before power washing.
Fallen tree limb cut up and stacked in his car to take home for personal use
Sapling cut and left hanging across fence, sharp stump left behind
Patio pressure wash marks from uneven spraying, debri and dirt built up behind grill, entry rug muddy from being left in wet dirt not sprayed off.

What he didn't do? The door latch wasn't touched. The paint wasn't touched. The debris from the horrible hacking trim job was left everywhere, eliciting comments from neighbors about the trash. Lunch trash stuffed into my out door trash can to fall out onto the wet ground. Furniture and flower pots left outside of patio on the ground where they had been tossed aside. Four boxes of shelving which had been delivered earlier than expected that he placed in the front yard, then over sprayed with bleach wash, left in the wet grass to get rained on after he left.

He told me he was coming back the next day to finish. When I felt rested enough to walk around the yard, I found what he had left behind and was furious and disgusted. Aside from his constant need to hug me, his inappropriate comments I tried to brush off, and language, he didn't do half what he was contracted to do, what he did do was handled so poorly I've had to hire someone to fix what he damaged, and he didn't even have the decency to apologize for breaking my mothers antique crockery.

I found out after he'd been hired that [redacted] and wants to be paid in cash.

I am very upset with Scott Kilmer. I hired him to hang a chandelier. He did not know what he was doing and hung a big glass chandelier and the only thing that was supporting it was a piece electrical wire! Also there were exposed wires hidden. This is why the light would not come on after I placed all the crystals. I had to remove all Chrystal's and call an electrician. [redacted] electric told me the chandelier would have fallen.
Very dangerous. The whole time Scott acted like he knew what he was doing. Then hinted he wanted more money as he was at my house from 10:00 am till 5:45! All because he didn't know what he was doing.
Should not be hired as far as hanging lights! I text him and let him know and of course I have heard nothing.
Of course he tried to say not all pieces were with the light but the other electrician came in looked at what I had and said this is what you use. We could have been hurt if that light had fallen.","neg-2
