Review: After having my taxes and all pertinent information for over a month I received a phone call at 2:35 in the afternoon informing me I needed to file an extension and that I owed 1000$ in taxes.I inquired about my taxes several times both in person and by phone. Each time I was told they were being worked on,[redacted] is not in the office today, the person working on your taxes is not here right now.Once when I went by the office to check on the progress of my return I asked about the use of my home for my business.I was then asked ( very rudely )"How big is your office?,"do you use air conditioning?","what are the dimensions of the room you call your office?".I informed the person that all this info was in the paperwork I provided. She then took my paperwork dropped it in my lap and snapped "You find it".When the cpa who had this office before let me know an extension was needed I was told well before April 14th at 2:35 pm.I also was not told that I needed to go to the irs web site and down load and print the form out myself. When I asked why I was told at such a late date that I would owe money and needed an extension I was told "well you knew pretty much knew that you owed money anyway" NO I DID NOT.This was lousy service.I do not believe this business made a very diligent effort on my behalf.I was basically dismissed as not worthy of their time.I feel like I was treated very discourteously.I do not trust this businesses work on my tax return. This office knew I had to withdraw money early from an ira account and that I would do this again if it became necessary.Again I made several contacts with this business to see if I would owe or be due a refund.I could have made arrangements to pay.To treat me this way and then let me know at the latest possible date is bad business. If they did not want bother with me they should never have started my tax return in the first place.Desired Settlement: I do not feel like I should be responsible for the late filing.I need to take my tax return to a competent office and have them redone.Other than that I do not know what kind of resolution can be accomplished with these people

June 6, 2014To whom it may concern:Following is my response to the customer complaint filed by [redacted]- herein referred to as client. Please be reminded that there is client confidentiality that must be considered in my response. I cannot divulge specific details of his tax return. I can only respond to non tax items. The client came to my office after he had been turned away by the public library which he stated had previously prepared his tax return for a nominal fee. His explanation to me was that they would not prepare his return because he was unable to provide accurate information. I consulted with him and determined that with some research we could reconstruct the required information in order to file an accurate tax return. After this initial visit he returned to my office with his information for the current year as well as returns from prior years including information which was not organized. This meant my staff had to go through all the scraps of papers and handwritten notes to discern what could be used for the 2013 tax return preparation. Obviously, this requires additional time. The client came to my office to clarify the information we had received from him and at that asked the questions as outlined in his complaint. Answers to these types of questions allows me to capture every tax deduction which he would be entitled to under the IRS code. My office staff would not have asked questions that were already documented in his file unless it was not clearly spelled out. Unfortunately, the client took offense to the questioning and became agitated. At this point, my staff person asked the client to look through his information and show us where to find the answers to the questions. His information was not thrown at him. When he did answer the questions his answers were vague and required additional clarification which also seem to annoy him.Due to the fact that it took so long to get the answers to numerous questions this put his tax preparation behind schedule. Consequently, we had to put the clients return on extension. There was an amount due with the extension and when the client was informed of this he became very angry. Three attempts to speak to the client were made on April 14, 2014 via the telephone. Each time he hung up on my receptionist who was trying to assist him in getting the required paperwork to file his extension on time. This was very rude and upsetting to my staff and totally uncalled for .I am not responsible for any penalties or interest for the late filing of his extension due to the fact that my office made considerable effort to work with him to get the required paperwork completed and filed on time. Had the client spoken to my receptionist she would have scheduled a pickup, an e-mail, or fax of the extension form so that it could have been filed on time.In order for me to prepare a tax return to be filed with the IRS and state taxing agencies, I need to do my due diligence and review all of the work prepared by my staff to ensure that every clients return is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. During my due diligence review of this clients return, I had two additional questions and called the client. He was very short with me and would not answer the questions straight forward. By the end of the conversation I recommended that the client please come to my office and pickup his tax information which he agreed to do and has since done so. Since I could not get the necessary cooperation from the client to answer my due diligence questions a completed tax return could not be produced and no fee has been charged to this client. My staff and I work diligently to meet the needs of each client realizing that the information for each tax return is unique to the individual and their circumstances. In the case of this client, my office was unable to receive the level of client cooperation necessary to satisfactorily complete his tax return for 2013 .Repectfully,
