Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below [To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.] Regards, [redacted] Owner makes it sound like he had my vehicle only from Feb until Feb In actuality, he had it until March When I talked to him on March 9, I was told he never knew anything about the power steering not working! Now he says he was told but never even looked at it That was the major complaint He also stated it was a major undertaking to fix the vehicle When I brought it to another shop to actually have it repaired, the person at the front desk said it was probably going to be the steering columnAfter putting it on the diagnostic machine, that indeed was the problem It was fixed within 1/hours Owner also stated that it never stopped working (power steering) while he had it, but the diagnostic scan showed that it had done it just about every time vehicle was started When new steering column was put on, MAJIC, every problem was corrected Was told that was where all the electronics run for that car That should have been the first place to lookAs far as the ignition having been recalled, the new shop was able to ascertain that it had been replaced by a dealer last year, without my help If all that had to be done was to check the vin, He was the mechanic, He had my vehicle, and therefore He had my vin! Owner states that my friend talked to him, not me, is true My mom (93) was in serious condition with internal bleeding, so, since I have POA, I had to be with her I was running between the doctors office, the hospital, her residence and my residence Yes, it would have been very hard for him to connect with me at any given time since I wasn't even sure where I was going to be I made sure I took the time on Monday, Mar to call him about my vehicle I did call him several times because he didn't answer his phone and never bothered to call me backFirst he said it would take a week, but actually kept the vehicle for days Second, admits that he was told about power steering, denies on phone that he knew anything about it, then in complaint admits he disregarded that complaint Thirdly, states you just have to have the vin number to check the recall, but even tho he had the vehicle for days, never took the time to check before replacing the good part

Owner obviously changes his story numerous times to fit his needs. First, says he WAS told power steering didn't work, then says he was told but didn't fix it, then says it was never brokenREALLY! Obviously doesn't keep his story straight. Was a problem with the power steering and WAS repaired by other shop. I WOULD ALWAYS TRUST THE OTHER SHOP. As far as the ignition, after I picked up the car from Kimberly Service, I told owner that it now didn't shut off when ignition was turned to off. Do you really think I would give him my vehicle for another twelve days to see if he could do a better job? I think not

I guess the first sentence of this complaint is correct. The vehicle was dropped of by the customers friend, which is the only person that I had any contact with through this whole transaction.I was told by the friend that dropped off the vehicle that the owner couldn't be reached during the day and
that he would forward any information to her about the car.So lets start from the beginning. The initial complaint was that the car would loose power steering intermittently and sometimes wouldn't start. When the car arrived on TueFebwe gave it a quick look and knew it wasn't going to be anything simple and informed the customers friend that it would be at least a week before we would be able to work on it,that is our average back log of vehicle work.We diagnosed a faulty ignition switch MonMarch and contacted the customers friendI suggested he call the owner to ask if the ignition switch was replaced because we believed that it was a recall item on these cars.I also recommended the he contact the owner about calling the dealership that she normally went to for recalls and ask if that ignition switch was a recall item and if it had been done. The dealership can look up that information as long as you provide them with a vin.I gave the customers friend the vin and he called me back the next day and said that the dealership told him that specific vehicle wasn't included in that recall. We ordered an ignition switch and replaced it on FriWe had been driving the car on and off all week and never experienced the power steering not working. Its hard to diagnose something when it's working like it should.I called the customers friend Frito inform him that the car was ready and that we hadn't found anything wrong with the power steering. He (the friend) said she (the owner)wouldn't be able to pick it up until Sat.I informed him (the friend)that I wasn't open on Saturday's but I would come in so she (the owner)could pick up her car but she (the owner)needed to be here at AM because I had an appointment at 9:on the other side of town and couldn't wait for her if she were late, which she was.In her(the owner)statement she(the owner)makes it seem like she talked to me but all of these verbal transactions I was only ever in contact with the friend.I believe the information was given to the friend promptly and accurately, weather it was forwarded to her(the owner)I don't know.I find it odd that she couldn't be contacted during the day but on Mon.March I missed two calls from her and she finally got ahold of me the third time, all calls made in the morning. As far as the car being open goes,it was inside all night until 9:am when she was supposed to be there to pick it up.I believe if we would have found a problem with the power steering and fixed and not found any problems with the ignition we would still be having to respond to a complaint, it would be about the ignition instead of the power steering. When she called on Monto complain about the power steering not working when she picked up the car I told her it work for us every time we drove it,she then said it didn't start when she picked it up and I told her that we should get it back in to look at it.I never mentioned any costs to look at the non starting problem because that would be a warranty situation with no cost to her.I will not refund anything until I see for myself that there is still a starting problem. If I would have been told an ignition switch was installed last SeptI would have recommended her to have it warrantied by Bergstrom with no cost to her and not put ours in at all.I'm not sure why that was never mentioned to me?

We have been here for many, many many years. This is the first and only customer that has ever logged a complaint about us.Does her car now not drain the battery,YES.Did we call her friend to ask if the recall had been done or if the car was part of the recall,YES.Did the friend tell us he called and said there was no recall on this part,YES.Did the friend then give us permission to replace the part and charge her said amount of money,YES.If I called to check recalls of every part on every car that we work on it would take us even longer to get cars in and out of here.I feel its the customers responsibility to know what and when recalls were done to THEIR vehicles. When she was notified that this repair was going to be done to her vehicle and knew that the dealership just did it why didn't say STOP it was just done, I'll take it back to the dealership and have it looked by them. Most of her complaint is about the steering not being fixed but she wants her money back for the ignition switch that we installed?!Or is she mad about us leaving her door open for five minutes after we pulled it out of the shop on a Saturday morning at 9:am or is she mad that it took over a week to get her car back to her after she was told we wouldn't even be able to look at it for at least a week or is she mad that we left at 9:because we had things to do and couldn't stay any longer than that and she was told that and still was late or she just upset about her Mom's health and needs someone to take it out onVehicle came in with two complaints;after vehicle sat for any length of time it wouldn't start because the battery was dead and occasionally the power steering would act up, we replaced a faulty ignition switch that we leaving the ignition in the on position thus draining the battery. After numerous test drives never got the power steering to act upWe own three different very expensive scan tools and none of them will time and date stamp an occurrence, that would be VERY handy in diagnosing problems but there isn't such a thingI believe the shop that repaired her power steering issue may have been giving her a line of BS when they said they could see that the power steering acted up while it was here.Sorry for your gullibilityMy offer stands,if she has problems with the ignition switch it has got a lifetime warranty and our shop labor warranty is posted,it's days.As far as the power steering goes, can't fix what isn't broken. We are not and have not ever been a shop that is going to just start replacing parts on a car and charging the customer without knowing exactly what is wrong firstWe will leave that up to the shops that haven't been around as long as we have

Best repair shop in the Fox ValleyI do not rate many businesses, however Kimberly Service is second to noneThe owner takes pride in his work and gets the job done right

Owner makes it sound like he had my vehicle only from Feb 24 until Feb 27.  In actuality, he had it until March 6.  When I talked to him on March 9, I was told he never knew anything about the power steering not working!  Now he says he was told but never even looked at it.  That was the major complaint.  He also stated it was a major undertaking to fix the vehicle.  When I brought it to another shop to actually have it repaired, the person at the front desk said it was probably going to be the steering column. After putting it on the diagnostic machine, that indeed was the problem.   It was fixed within 1 1/2 hours.  Owner also stated that it never stopped working (power steering) while he had it, but the diagnostic scan showed that it had done it just about every time vehicle was started.  When new steering column was put on, MAJIC, every problem was corrected.  Was told that was where all the electronics run for that car.  That should have been the first place to look.
As far as the ignition having been recalled, the new shop was able to ascertain that it had been replaced by a dealer last year, without my help.  If all that had to be done was to check the vin, He was the mechanic, He had my vehicle, and therefore He had my vin!
Owner states that my friend talked to him, not me, is true.  My mom (93) was in serious condition with internal bleeding, so, since I have POA, I had to be with her.  I was running between the doctors office, the hospital, her residence and my residence.  Yes, it would have been very hard for him to connect with me at any given time since I wasn't even sure where I was going to be.  I made sure I took the time on Monday, Mar 9 to call him about my vehicle.  I did call him several times because he didn't answer his phone and never bothered to call me back.
First he said it would take a week, but actually kept the vehicle for 12 days.  Second, admits that he was told about power steering, denies on phone that he knew anything about it, then in complaint admits he disregarded that complaint.  Thirdly, states you just have to have the vin number to check the recall, but even tho he had the vehicle for 12 days, never took the time to check before replacing the good part.
