Your information is incorrect Kincade Tree Service is in business I have used their services at least three times in the last five years But never again
I hired this company to fell two mature trees on my property and to cut them up into fireplace size logs which I intend to split They were also to cut down some small branches on another tree and to remove what might be called straggler trees trying to grow around a house foundation
However, one of the four employees on the job cut down three small bushes which were not supposed to be cut It was impossible for me to keep an eye on four employees and MrKincade at the same time Not to mention the fact that MrKincade was in a hurry to get to his next job and was rushing to and fro directing his people to cut this cut that
The crux of this matter is that the bushes that were cut were native ash wafer bushes which is one of two host plants in MO of the giant swallowtail butterfly I noticed giant swallowtail butterflies depositing eggs on the leaves of these bushes two or three years ago I am a butterfly enthusiast and gardener and I was thrilled to find these bushes attracting swallowtails I did not plant these bushes As I said, the wafer ash is a Missouri native and were growing on my property in rural Franklin County But nurseries do not sell wafer ash "bushes." The nurseries that sell natives grow them from seed and sell them when they are a few inches tall with no leaves at all So it will likely be years before any swallowtails will be able to lay their eggs on these nursery-grown ash "trees" because their caterpillars are voracious eaters and need lots of leaves to grow into a chrysalis and then emerge as a butterfly So the giant swallowtails that hatch this spring and summer will have to find other ash trees or else not be able to reproduce I so enjoyed seeing them the last few years at my property in Franklin County At my home in StLouis County I am lucky to see only one pass by all summer
I attribute this incident to MrKincade's haste in general and his haste on this particular day He was in a rush to get to Charlie Gitto's farm to do a big job MrKincade visited my place this past Sunday to eyeball it in order to give me a quote At that time I pointed out to him the bushes in question that were important to meHe said no problem, the nearby tree to be felled would fall in the opposite direction I am not sure whether MrKincade forgot this and told his employee to cut down the bushes or whether the employee in his haste to cut up everything into fireplace size pieces inadvertently cut down these bushes The result of course is the same
The causes of this incident I believe are two-fold; MrKincade's haste the day of the quote which resulted in him not remembering what I'd told him and his haste today which may have resulted in him incorrectly instructing his employees, and secondly, my trusting Kincade Tree Service I could have somehow indicated that these bushes were off limits I could have put up a sign or something or spoken to each of the four employees as they came onto the property But since there was NO REASON to cut down these bushes, I didn't see the necessity of further action on my part
I have written this review in large part as catharsis I was and remain very upset by this incident MrKincade reduced his price to me from $to $ But at age 70, that I may never see giant swallowtails fluttering around my property again makes me cry, literally I would never hire MrKincade again or recommend him to anyone simply because to do so would cause me to relive this incident Some people believe in "God." I believe in the natural world
