King Cleaners Reviews (1)

I purchased a pair of jeans and took them to King Cleaners to be hemmed. The lady behind the counter wasn't sure on the process of alterations and told me that they would be ready to be picked up in 3 days. I dropped them off on a Monday and expressed that I needed to pick them up on Thursday. The lady helping me assured me that it was adequate time for the alteration to be completed and that Thursday was fine. As I was marking the pants where I wanted them hemmed, she asked if I wanted to try them on and have them measured. I said yes and she explained that they didn't have a dressing room but that that I could come behind the counter and get dressed. This was NOT acceptable and told her that I will just leave extra length on the lenth to assure they were not too short. I also asked for additional material to be left on the reverse side of the hem in case I wanted to wear the jeans with heels, I could just undo the hem and have enough length for the shoes. The lady asked me to write the specific instructions so that the seamstress would know exactly what I wanted done. On Thursday, I called to make sure my pants were in and sure enough, the jeans were not there. I expressed to the girl on the phone that it was important that I had the jeans and I would pick them up where ever they were. They said I couldnt do that and that they would have them ready for pick up at 7:00 am on Friday morning. After I picked them up and tried them on, I saw that they were cut above my ankle (MANY inches from where I had asked them to be hemmed) and they were hemmed WITHOUT additional material left behind the hem so there was no way I could repair them. I spoke with the owner who screamed at me and accused me of lying and marking the alteration that short. He asked me if I would take the jeans back so he could see them. I asked for a refund of my jeans and have not received any compensation for them OR my jeans returned.Desired SettlementI feel that since my jeans were dropped off new WITH tags still attached, a replacement pair of the same jeans is a reasonable settlement.Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: [redacted]Contact Email: [redacted]On Monday October 7, 2013 [redacted] took in a pair of jeans to be hem. As standard procedure counter lady asked her to be measured, immediately she declined because she was shopping all day and she was exhausted but assured the counter lady exactly where she wanted hemmed and marking it with a pin. Also left a note saying "please try to match original hem color and thickness as the original as possible, can you also leave extra material in case I measured wrong "this is a pair of jeans we cannot leave extra material in reverse (we can on dress pants, or some slack and trousers), we contacted [redacted] and no answer aware of the deadline we did the hem exactly where she left the pin . The jean was ready on promise day but we had some delivery issue from the plant and we cannot deliver until the following day. [redacted] never mentioned that I gave her a complimentary for this inconvenience to show our sincerity and good faith. Her husband picked up the jean and 10 minutes later she called the store and screamed at the counter lady that we had hemmed the jeans two inches shorter. I contacted [redacted] as soon as I found out about the situation but she told me it was four inches shorter. I asked her to bring the jeans back as soon as she can so we can further investigate what happened. She never brought it back until five days later. We noticed that all the tags from the retail store where undone and she had used the jeans before she brought it back to us. [redacted] called us screamingly mad and agitated asking for compensation on the jeans and if we don't she said she will do everything to ruin our business. We are not in business to ruin customer's clothes. We hem 15-25 pant/jeans on a daily basis, some we measured some customers marks where they wanted it hemmed and we never had a problem like this with [redacted]. Below are inconsistencies we found from [redacted]1. She came in very exhausted from shopping all day for this jean and left us note "leave extra material in case I measured wrong" we believed without measuring the jean [redacted] marked the jeans where she taught would be the right size for her.2. The first call we received after picking up the jeans she said it was two inches shorter. When she talked to the manager it was four inches shorter. Up to this moment [redacted] is still confused and doesn't really know where she would want her jeans hemmed.3. We asked her to bring the jean as soon as she can and she agreed but never brought back five days later after using the jean. Did we really cut the jean shorter but still able to use the jean if we did?4. We called her to pick up her jean and she never did.We believed [redacted] realized she had made a mistake when she marked the jeans and trying to have someone pay for her owned mistakes. We always try to make our customers happy and satisfied without them we wouldn't be in business, but we cannot compensate someone especially if we did nothing wrong.Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)1. I never came in "exhausted from shopping all day" since I had been working all day, and I was not exhausted but instead excited about new jeans I had purchased to wear. 2. I have consistantly said the jeans were SEVEARL inches too short. 3. I was not/have not been able to wear the jeans as they are several inches too short and my schedule did not allow me to bring them in at the owners convenience. 4. I still have not received a phone call or message stating ANY resolution about the poor job they did on my jeans. Whether it be for me to pick them up or that they were still doing their "research" on what had happened. I am extremely disappointed in the company's response of their lack of professionalism. IF they offer alterations, there should be someone there who can professionally measure, and dressing room to accomodate this. I went to this business because it was convienent, not because of the price or customer service. I did not tell anyone that I would do everything I could to ruin their business, I simply told them I would be making a claim with the Revdex.com. From the begining, they have been very unprofessional and the only mistake that I have made was going against my gut feeling I had when I walked in and there was not a professional working to take measurements.
