King Oral Surgery

Review: On April 7, 2014, I went to the King Oral Surgery Group to have a tooth extracted based upon a referral from my dentist. Initially, I was examined by a doctor (I assumed to be Dr [redacted] King). After Dr King's examination, a billing representative and I discuss the charges and estimated insurer and patient fees (Co-pay). The estimates I was shown listed two fees: one for the examination and another for the extraction, which were agreeable. Based upon the estimates I was provided I would be required to pay approximately $58 ($14 for the examination and $38 for the extraction). Next, the billing representative stated I would need to pay the $58 before my tooth would be extracted. However, I explained to the billing representative that my custom is to pay for services after they are rendered. Then the billing representative said their policy is to collect fees before service is provided. Therefore, I would need to discuss the issue with the doctor. Later, Dr King and I discussed my preference to pay for services after they had been rendered. I further explained to Dr King that I was willing to pay half of the before the work was done and then pay the remainder after he had extracted my tooth. Unfortunately, Dr King was unwilling to accept my final offer. Therefore, we decided he would not extract my tooth. However, just prior to leaving Dr King's office I again spoke with the billing representative who stated I would need to pay $34 for a consult. Although I paid the $34, I expressed my dissatisfaction with now being changed for a consult with I need not need a consult since my primary dentist referred me to the King Oral Surgery Group. Therefore, I'm submitting this complaint because I believe I should have been only charged for an examination an not a consult since I never agreed to nor was I told I would be expected to pay for a consult.Desired Settlement: I desire the King Oral Surgery Group to cancel the consult charge and correctly bill me for an examination, which they explained to me would have a co-pay of approximately $14.
