" text-align: center;">August 26, 2014Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the above-mentioned complaint regarding a vehicle recently purchased from my shop, King's Auto Sales The vehicle in question was purchased on Friday, July 25, As is my custom, Ms*** was given the opportunity to test drive the vehicle before purchasingMs*** did so on July 24, Upon returning to the shop after her test drive, Ms*** mentioned she heard a noise that was heard coming from below the vehicleI also heard the noise and informed Ms*** it was an unhooked muffler clipNeither I nor Ms*** heard any noise coming from the engine or surrounding area
On the evening of Tuesday, July 20, I received a call from Ms*** stating she could hear a noise coming from the vehicle other than the one previously mentionedI promptly informed Ms*** she should bring the vehicle back to my shop for an inspection of sameMs*** proceeded to mention she had taken the vehicle to a friend who is a mechanic and that he stated the vehicle may need an oil changeAgain, I mentioned to Ms*** she should bring the vehicle to my shop for inspectionDuring this conversation with Ms***, she failed to mention that she had already taken the vehicle to *** *** and had the oil changedMs*** brought the vehicle in to my shop and it is during this time that I found a *** *** receipt in the vehicle and became aware of the fact that she had previously taken the vehicle to *** *** for an oil change on July 28, I had three separate mechanics inspect the vehicle and all determined that there was a noise coming from the vehicle and that the vehicle's oil level was approximately a quart too highThis situation is potentially dangerous to a vehicle's engine
King's Auto Sales Co
It is the professional opinion of all three mechanics that due to the nature and location of the noise, the most likely cause of the damage was due to the vehicle being run without oilBecause vehicles in my shop undergo an inspection before they are sold, I have no doubt the vehicle did not lack oil when it was sold to Ms***I called Ms*** and informed her of our findings and informed her that the responsibility is upon *** ***It was at this point that she decided to mention she heard the noise before she took it in for an oil change
Please be aware that we have sold over vehiclesEach and every vehicle is placed under several points inspection prior to being sold, including Ms***'s Mazda, and no mechanical damage was found to her vehicle at the time of inspectionBecause Ms*** took the vehicle to her "friend who is a mechanic" and to *** ***, I feel it is impossible to determine who is at fault and/or liable for mechanical issues the vehicle may be having
In spite of not being responsible for the damage done to the vehicle, in good faith, I offered Ms*** to have a certified mechanic fix the vehicle at a cost to her of between $1,to $Ms*** had previously mentioned to me that another mechanic had quoted her a price of $6,to fix the vehicleIn addition, I offered to pay 40% of the repair costMs*** agreed to this offer on August 9, and stated she would bring the vehicle in on Monday, August 11th via tow truckIt was approximately one week later wherein I received a copy of her complaint to the Revdex.com
In closing, please be advised that we do not feel we are liable to the mechanical damage done to the vehicle due to the many different parties involved in the maintenance of the vehicle after it was sold to Ms***Lastly, an attempt was made to work out an amicable solution at a greatly reduced cost to Ms*** and while she initially accepted same, has apparently changed her mind
Again, thank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint against my place of business
Sincerely,
*** ** ***

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:
Regards,
*** ***
I am in disagreement with a lot the statements made by the
Mr*** ***When I first reached out to the owner to inform him of the
issues with the car in that conversation I explained to him that I took the car
to *** *** to have an oil change because of the noise the car was makingThis
was after I asked a mechanic friend to listen to the car who did nothing to the
car besides check the oilThe mechanic advised that the noise was coming from
motor and it did not sound like a quick fixHe also checked the oil and
advised that the oil was so dirty that it had lost its textureSo that in
itself goes to show that the owner did not do his all points inspection because
any mechanic would have known that the oil needed changing
I did return the car back to the owner to have someone look
at it and I picked up after it had sat over a week and his mechanic had not
gotten around to looking at the carI made several attempts to return to his
mechanic who was never available to look at itSo I did take it to a
professional mechanic shop where the car was inspected and it was determined
that there was a problem with the rodsI even had the professional mechanic
speak with the dealership owner to explain the issueMrvoiced to me and the
professional mechanic that he felt like *** *** caused the issue with the
car and tried to cover it up with extra oilThe professional mechanic
disagreed with the Mr*** According to the mechanic there is no way the
issue with the car happened in the little time *** *** changed the oilEven
if they had started (theory of Mr***) the car without oil the car would
have had to been driven for a long period of time without oil to cause the problem
with the car
Mr*** is correct I was quoted an estimated amount of
$to have the professional mechanic shop fix it and he did advise me that
his mechanic could fix it for $and he would paid 40% of the costIn my
last conversations with MrI advised Mr*** I did not just have the money
sitting around being that I had just used all my funds to the buy and I was in
the process of getting my daughter off to schoolI did advise him that I would
make contact with him after I had the fundsIn the interim I decided that I no
longer wanted the vehicle and reached out the Revdex.com to assist
me in this matterWhile waiting for the response I decided that I did not
trust the Mr*** or his mechanic to fix the car since all this has taken
placeI have since then decided to deal with an A-*** Salvage who is now
in the process of switching out the engine in the car to solve the issueMy
estimated cost with the A-*** Salvage is $which is the cost of the
engine and the laborMr*** agreed to pay 40% of the cost to fix the
issue with the car so I am praying he will hold up this offerI will be
sending him copies of the final bill when I pick up the car
I really feel like I was taken advantage of in this
transactionYes I did test drive the car but I was assured by the Mrthat the
noise was something very simple and was coming from underneath the carI did
not know at the time the noise was coming from the engine and trusted what I
was toldMr*** seemed like a honest salesman especially when I explained
that my daughter would be using the car at collegeI have always been up front
with Mrthroughout this matter
