Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2017/02/07) */
All work has been completed per our contracts The insurance claim that Mr *** is referring to was not a contract with him The previous home-owner, Mrs***, hired us to complete work per the insurance scopeWe completed the work and have
been paid in full by Mrs***She is happy with the work and we would be happy to provide her contact information for verificationSee attached contract with Mrs*** verifying Mr*** is not on the contractThe insurance company did not pay us to replace the interior wood trim, and was not on our original contract with Mrs ***Mr *** is now attempting to push us into performing free work for a contract that was not with Mr***Within our contract we are not responsible for interior wood trim
In regards to the work performed on the contract with Mrs***, We did find wood rot to roof joists, siding, framing, the chimney, insulation and OSB deckingThe insurance company is not responsible for wood rot, as it is considered maintenance and not storm damageMr *** signed a change order to have us replace all the rotSee signed change order attached Mr *** and Mrs*** agreed within the purchase agreement for the home, that Mr*** would be responsible for 1/of the deductible and any work outside of the insurance claimThat is why he signed the change order for wood rot
Mr *** did hire us to install doorsThe contract was very clear that wood rot was not included and would be an additional chargeTHis was not an "unforseen" issue as stated by Mr***'s complaint, but was clearly called out on our contract We informed him we would need to removed the doors and investigate more to give him a final dollar amount to make wood rot repairsSee attached contractHe left on vacation and asked that we completed the work prior to him coming homeWhen we removed the doors and found extensive wood rot, we stopped the project and emailed him immediatelyThe entire back wall of the home was rottenHe returned our email , requesting us to stop immediatelyDue to the stop order we were forced to board up (2) different 8' sliding door openingsThe sub-floor was rotten, and the rot extended all the way through the floor joistsWe did remove the rotten sub-floor per Mr***'s request so he could see the extent of the damage so he could make he call how to move forward the day he returned homeThe $charge is for the boaOnce Mr *** returned home I met Mr*** on-sight to review our findings of the wood rotHE requested an estimate to make repairsI informed him of what was the correct fixHe began to become very anxious, making accusations that the previous home owner did not disclose the issues, that he considered suing her, or just dumping the home because he could not afford the proper fixHe asked what our price was to do exploration, and I quoted him $***He decided he did not want us to return to remove outside siding for exploration, that he would himself to save moneyHe sent pictures after he removed the siding and asked to give him a bidI informed him I must see this in person to give an accurate numberWE agreed for me to come the next day at 1pmAt 12pm the next day he text messaged me not to come, that he had already hired another contractorI have the sequence of events in text form and am happy to provide upon request
The next day, Mr *** showed up to our office complaining to our production manager that we never showed up to do explorationOnce production manager contacted me concerned that we missed something as he never had a work order for explorationHe called me immediatelyDue to the confusion I contacted Mr***I called to discuss the accusations with Mr *** as his accusations were not our understanding of his requestHe was very aggressive immediately and began talking over meI asked him to "time out", so I could finish my questionHe proceeded for the next minutes screaming at me, making threats to sue us etcI told him that we were not comfortable to return to install the doorsAs a company it was our opinion that he was not stable and we did not want our installers to be put in a bad situation
Through the next few days we negotiated back and forth on the credit Mr*** would receive for us not installing the doorsWE eventually agreed on a total of a *** creditThe original contract was *** The final contract price was $*** we agreed on after creditThe cost of the doors was *** at our cost, plus shippingSee attached documentation from the supplier of door costWe already removed the old doors and that was a portion of the contract completedThe doors are custom, as they are not stock items at Richards, but are produced to orderWe lost money at *** but were happy to just put this behind us
In Mr***'s desired resolution he is stating he has concerns about the roofThis is the first we have heard of thisWE stand behind our workmanship and if there are issues we will 100% take care of it, even though the contract is not with Mr*** for the roofThe interior wood trim was not contracted to usIt is common to be hired to replace doors or windows, but the home-owner is responsible for interior trim so the client can save moneyMrs*** did not want to pay us for the trim so we did not complete it
Once the complaint was filed we contacted Mr & Mrs*** confused as they paid the bills in full a few days agoWe were very lenient in our credit, informed them we would warrant any potential problems on the roof even though the contract was not with themMrs*** answered the phone and I asked her about the complaintShe stated she never made a complaintI informed her that her name was on the complaint and she commented, "well, it should not be, I did not make a complaint!"Mr*** got on the phone and again, immediately stated we would be hearing from his lawyer etcWe are not comfortable with Mr***'s aggression or verbal assaults

I am very unhappy with the company they came to my house and gave me a estimate and when I asked for the paperwork for the estimate and they don't have any to give me and they are a company that knows what a estimate paper looks like I told him how much I was getting from insurance and they said they would do it for the full amount that they could of for more
