Kings Gym

I have been a member of kings gym for 10 years now. For the last 3 years, each summer, there have been issues with the air conditioner not working properly to the extent of the temperature rising to 82 degrees. I've heard excuses ranging from "the heat wave will only last a couple of days" to "when we turn it on in the morning it takes until late afternoon to reach its full capacity." The latest excuse this summer is "we only rent the building therefore it is the owner's responsibility to purchase a new air conditioner as the current one is out of date." So, naturally, I have complained as have numerous other members. Many of them have even gone as far as to switch gyms. On July 15th I was told by the owner of the gym if I complained again he wanted me to leave. I responded that I have every right to complain if I am uncomfortable to which he responed by telling me I needed to leave that moment and to not come back. They take the membership fee out of my account electronically every month and I have already paid for this month.Product_Or_Service: gym membershipDesired SettlementConsidering the way that I was treated I would like a full refund for this years membershipBusiness' Initial Response Customer satisfaction is a great concern of ours. We rent the space we're in & when there is a problem with the air conditioning, we can only report it to our landlord who has been diligent about having it repaired. Sometimes it can take up to a day or so for repairs to be made. In the last few years, it's become obvious that our system needed to be replaced, & this year our 2 units were replaced--one on 6/27 & the other on 7/5. After their installation, we worked with the contractor to iron out the kinks in the new system. This took several days. During this transition period, at least one of the 2 units has been working at all times, & we installed extra fans & ventilation throughout the facility in an effort to make it as comfortable as possible for our members. We also posted notices in the gym keeping our members apprised of the situation as it developed. The vast majority of our members have understood that we have done the best that we can. Unfortunately, A/C fails when you need it the most.Regarding the complaint that has been filed, we have had to reason with this particular member on several occasions, past and present, & request her patience while the situation was being resolved. She has threatened to leave our gym many times. In this recent incident after the new units had been installed, the outside temperatures were in the mid to high 90's. We were told by the A/C contractor to give it a few days to let the interior temperature come down. The complaining member continued to express her dissatisfaction not only to us but to other members as well, at which time we told her that because we had done the best that we could that perhaps she should exercise her option to leave as she had threatened to do so many times in the past. At this point, she resorted to raising her voice with threats & profanity in front of other members, so we asked her to leave immediately.Regarding the consumer's desired resolution, we promptly mailed to her a refund that was more than sufficient for the time she had remaining in the month. Since this incident, she has also reported us to the board of health, even asserting that the conditions in our facility were making members ill. Upon their impromptu inspection, all of her complaints were dismissed. As stated earlier, Customer satisfaction is a great concern of ours.
