I am rejecting this response because:
1) Elmer provided an estimate of the cost for repairs totaling $684, which included his professional research of the price of the parts required. My decision to proceed with the repairs was based on Elmer's expertise...

and knowledge in providing an accurate estimate for repairs performed by King's for its customers.
2) As previously stated, documents were signed and bill was paid in order to gain possession of my car keys.  I would not leave my vehicle in the possession of a shop I consider to be dishonest, pure and simple.
3) My experience with other repair shops is that they provide an accurate estimate prior to the work being started and if the price differs from that estimate during the process, the shop gets prior approval from the customer for the increase. I did not give prior approval for this increase.
4) My credit card company (credit union actually) communicated with me via private, online messages only after I provided my login and password. Elmer did not communicate the credit card company's information to me and therefore does not know what the credit card company told me.
5) A company should be honest with their customers, should provide an honest estimate of costs prior to the work being started, and should stick to the agreed upon estimate once work is completed, especially when parts are in-stock and readily available locally for the repairs being made. The estimate from Elmer was $684.00 and the final bill, for the same parts, labor and work performed was $1,166.96. This is dishonest business, pure and simple in my book.  Providing an invoice showing an amazing parts mark-up of 90% certainly does not provide reassurance otherwise.

Review: My car was in having some work done by this shop. Once the original repairs were completed, Elmer Ictue told me (over the phone) that one of the remaining problems on my car (front end shaking) was caused by bad ball joints. He then quoted me a total cost of $684.00 to replace all four ball joints. The estimate of $684.00 included parts, labor and alignment. The breakdown was as follows - 2 ball joints at $93.50 each, 2 ball joints at $92.00 each, approximately 1.5 hours of labor for one set of ball joints and approximately 1.0 hour of labor for the second set of ball joints and a front end alignment. I originally told Elmer not to do the work. After talking with him on the phone, I checked the price of ball joints with several local (California and Arizona) sources. His quoted prices for ball joints were a little higher than others, but pretty close to the price of other premium quality parts readily available for this vehicle. I then went by in person and spoke with Elmer further about it. I told him that I did not want to put ANY more money into this car as it would most likely be sold soon. He assured me at that time that his mechanic had looked over the front suspension, replacing the ball joints would solve the problem and that there would be NO additional costs over and above his estimate. At this time, I told Elmer that if he had ANY problems with finding parts, etc. that I knew of several readily available sources including one company in Arizona that handled nothing but parts for this somewhat rare car and could get any nut, bolt or part that he may need. Upon picking-up the car, the bill was $1,166.96 or $482.96 higher than the original estimate due mostly to the cost of ball joints being DOUBLE ($190 each) what was originally quoted. I had to sign the work order and invoice at that time in order to receive my keys/car. Nothing was signed or approved prior to that. Elmer increased my bill by $482.96 without my knowledge/prior approval.Desired Settlement: Refund of the overcharged amount of $482.96 which is the difference between his original estimate of all costs and the final bill for the same service, parts etc. as the original estimate.
