Lug Nuts were not tightened on my vehicle and as a result several came off while I was driving down the highway at 63mphOn Monday, Kinston Wheel Aligning Services did a front end alignment on my [redacted]. On Tuesday, I was driving down Hwy 11 at 63 mph when I heard a loud noise coming from my left from tire area. I turned around and had my son take the car to [redacted] to be diagnosed. We were advised that my car only had two lug nuts upon arrival and one slid off. I immediately contacted the shop and spoke to the person who worked on my car. I was advised that there was no way it was their fault because they use the machine to apply lug nuts on the car. I advised him that no one else had worked on my car. The mechanic was not accepting responsibility for endangering my life and the life of my family. Upon talking with others, I found out that several people have had issues with them,but many never reported the issue.Desired SettlementI would like for them to acknowledge that they made a mistake with an apology and refund the $35 for the alignment and $10 to replace the lug nuts that flew off on the highway. I am also seeking damages for emotional stress in the amount of $500 and a day's pay of $98.Business Response It is always our desire for all our customers to find our work satisfactory, but unfortunately that is not always the case. Our mechanic that personally worked on this vehicle spoke by telephone with this customer the next day after said vehicle had been taken, per the customer, to a third party for repair. Our mechanic assured her and has assured us that all lug nuts were replaced and tightened with the air gun. He would not have sent the vehicle out of the shop without making sure all was secure. He is our general manager and has worked for us for 39 years. Had she returned the vehicle to us, we would have gladly made any necessary corrections that were needed. As a gesture of good will, we are willing to return her $35.00 and reimburse the $10.00 she says was spent with the 3rd party. Consumer Response After experiencing what I did, I was in need of a second opinion from another mechanic. My son took my car elsewhere and no one else worked on my vehicle between that time. I do understand people make mistakes, even with years of experience, but I can't understand how my lugs came off if they were replaced properly. I will accept the offer and hopefully this doesn't ever happen again with myself or anyone else. I will visit the location soon. Thank you for your response.Final Business Response This is to report that customer's brother came to our shop on Tuesday, Jan 27, 2015 to pick up a check for the $45.00 we agreed to refund. The issue is now settled.
