Kirby Contracting, LLC Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to *** ** ***, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
I will counter *** *** statements that I came to him with a specific design My design idea was a cover over the deck The only thing that I asked for was the underside to be covered with wafer board so we were not looking at the rafters It was never suggested to me as a needed protection for our cover to use a composite, and, by no means, did I say not to include flashing If I had known how to build the cover, I would not have paid someone to do it The only decision we made was to tie the supports into the existing deck supports and not have new supports put in *** *** said that using the existing supports would save a lot of money, and he would make it just as strong as if he had put new supports up.The limited budget that he refers to was limited to the cost of his estimate We did not come to him with a cost that we could not exceed He was the lowest estimate that we received, so, we used him Sounds like that may have been the wrong thing to do because he cut corners and now we are paying for it.Again, like I said in the original complaint and *** *** reiterated in his response, the lack of flashing is a faulty design It was never discussed that he was going to build me something that would only last for the warranty period and that anything beyond that would be tough luck on my part I am still of the belief that he should be responsible for building the faulty product and stand behind any faulty work that he passed off on someone.I can tell he is walking away from this and probably laughing about taking someone's money Be forewarned to anyone else considering using *** *** that he will NOT stand behind his work and will shift blame to the client for any faulty workmanship Not worth the $it cost for the DECK COVER Buyer Beware
Regards,
*** ***

When [redacted]l first approached me for this project he came with a design in mind, a very specific design in mind, of which I questioned at the time. When I question [redacted]  about his design he insisted on using this material and specifically the finishes that we built. When we were...

completed with the project[redacted] completely satisfied  with the results, he said it looks exactly like what we built before.Part of the contract was that there was a one year warranty, it is now over two years and he all of a sudden wants me to remake all these repairs for free . It is unreasonable as a business owner to give unlimited warranties on projects like this because it has nothing to do with my workmanship it has everything to do with the design I made several suggestions at the time of the building of this cover of which she did not  to consider because he had a very limited budget. I had suggested using composite material and flashing at the time of building he refused to let us do it or take any suggestions at the time,  because he was the smartest guy in the room.He was also very rude on the phone when he called me after I gave him the idea that I was going to give him a bid for this repair. When I met him in person  he was very polite and seem to except the fact I was going to bid the project. After several hours he decided to call me in at that time he was rude saying that I need to stand behind my work because it was faulty workmanship. It's funny two years prior to that it wasn't  faulty workmanship. That's why there are limits and warrantees because businesses can afford to do free work, when they already did low-cost work to begin with. [redacted] does not understand that if you wanted a longer warranty he would've had to pay more upfront for the project  and I would not have build it the way he wanted me to I would've built it properly. So now he is going to have to be responsible for his faulty design, not my faulty workmanship, because I built it exactly the way he wanted it. The proof is that it lasted two years even with faulty design.-- [redacted]
