A young women misrepresented herself knocking on my door and telling me they were new in the area and up the street she made it sound like they were a new business in my area. Would I like my rug shampooed for free.Reluctantly I said yes.'The next thing I knew she left and a man came in with a Kirby Vacuum, the demo took 3 hours. At one point he asked me where the nearest room with a mattress was so he could show me how dirty it was. I said no we are not going there, he got annoyed with me and said well thats part of the demo, I again said no.He continued with his demo and then asked if he could get some water from the sink so that he could shampoo the rug.He stole my ring which was on the microwave next to the sink.My husband called the Madison st office we were told someone would call us back no one did. I called Kirby WHQ they opened a complaint file.Be careful who you let in your house.Product_Or_Service: Kirby VacuumDesired SettlementI want my ring back, but we all know thats not going to happenThank YOuBusiness Response To Whom It May Concern,When we accept someone into J. Hood and Associates we are required by the Kirby Company to run a background check on them before we send them into demonstrations in customer's homes, which we did with [redacted] and [redacted] Neither [redacted] nor [redacted] had any criminal charges and never gave us any reason to believe they were untrustworthy. We did our own investigation along with the Kirby Company's formal investigation and have concluded that there is no way to prove [redacted] stole the ring that is missing from the customers home. We feel bad that the ring is missing. We hope it has just been a misunderstanding and the ring is found. We, however, cannot take responsibility for the missing ring without proof that one of our independent representatives was responsible. -J. Hood and AssociatesFinal Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)The reason I don't except the companies response is the following:The ring was on the microwave next to the sink the salesman went to the sink for water on 2 different occasions when he left the ring was gone.As far as what Kirby calls an investigation ,they had the salesman sign a statement that he did not (in their words) remove the ring from my home.It doesn't matter if a background check was done on him. The fact of the matter is he took my ring.As far as the woman is concerned, I at no time said she had anything to do with it. She never came past my front door.If JHood was so sure that the salesman did not steal my ring, why did he tell Kirby WHQ that they went out to their van to look for the ring when they had no idea what to look for. When my husband called JHood he was told someone would call back,as I said before they never did.Thank you for your help Revdex.com but at the end of the day my ring was stolen and so is my trust for people. My daughter bought that ring for me and its sad that the Kirby company is covering their tracks and making all kind of excuses rather then accept the responsibility that their salesman stole my ring and they should make good on it. I wonder if I had spent 2,295 on the Kirby would that make a difference on their failure to except responsibility for the theft by their salesman.I sent a letter to Kirby WHQ and their only concern was passing the buck and respond by saying the JHood Co, is a franchise and so we leave this up to them.Again Thank You[redacted]

I have tried to cancel my contract in the alotted time given and have still received no response from the company.I signed a contract with the company [redacted] on [redacted] XXXXXXXXXX. On [redacted] I called the company to cancel contract since I was not satisfied with the product but there was no answer. I then called the sales Rep[redacted] to explain I wanted to cancel and that there was no one in office to answer the phone. [redacted] then stated he would talk to the manager [redacted] on monday [redacted] to see if they could come pick up the cleaning system and return my post dated check to me and pick up paperwork at the same time. I heard nothing back so when I called again on [redacted] and talked to a [redacted] he said he would talk to the owner and call me back. I still received no reply. I then called the finance company [redacted] on [redacted] to see about cancelling contract and the situation that has happened and they informed me that since no money has been paid that [redacted] would be the ones to call and cancel contract with them. I then called [redacted] on [redacted] and asked for [redacted] and was told he was in a meeting and the employee [redacted] that answered the phone said she could help. I explained the situation and she said she would have [redacted] call me back. I again did not receive a call from the company. I then canceled my posted dated check for [redacted] in the amount of [redacted] on [redacted] and mailed a letter to [redacted] on [redacted] stating the reason for cancelling payment and again to receive a reply from them concerning contract. I have still not received any reply on the situation. I then contacted the [redacted] to find out how to handle this complaint and I have sent a second reply on [redacted] in a certified letter to [redacted] in hopes of receiving a reply and resolving this matter.Desired SettlementI would like to void said contract and for [redacted] to come get their cleaning system or I can return it to their office.Business Response We have cancelled the contract and picked up [redacted]'s machine. We apologized for the misunderstanding and she seemed satisfied with the result. She bought the machine from one of our independent dealers that was also [redacted]. She told him she would like to cancel and he never told us that within the cancellation period. We were at that point under the conclusion that she did not cancel within the allotted time but have since talked to that dealer and worked the situation out. Consumer Response On [redacted] I received a phone call from [redacted] the owner of [redacted] and assoc. They sent their employee [redacted] to come and picked up their cleaning system and void the contract as requested. Thank you for your time and help in resolving this issue.Final Consumer Response The only problem that is still left with this case is that the company has not informed [redacted] consumer financial that the contract was voided. I did however call the [redacted] on [redacted] to verify if it was closed or not and they told me it would take some time to confirm with [redacted] and [redacted] I expressed to [redacted] on [redacted] when he called my concerns about it being done. But once again they still did not follow through with what he had told me. So until the contract is voided with [redacted] financial this case is not fully resolved.Final Business Response We informed the finance company, [redacted] of [redacted]'s cancellation and had them close the account immediately when we picked up the [redacted] from her home. [redacted] has a processing period which places our notification in a service quoi to be processed. We called [redacted] again when we received this second complaint and they informed us that it has been reviewed and cancelled. We hope that this resolves the issue.

I was insulted and forced in to purchasing a vacuum cleaner I did not want or need.On [redacted] at about dinner time I heard a vigorous knock on my door. I got up from my dinner with my family to see who was pounding at my door to be greeted by a young female who stated they were a new business in town and wanted to offer a free shampooing for one of my carpets and she let herself in. I was hesitant of this but I let them do it anyway, against my better judgement. She said her coworker would be right over since he was finishing up an appointment and she was leaving to go make more appointments. Her coworker let himself in and proceeded to my living room. I asked how he got in to cleaning carpets and he said " oh I'm not here to just clean your carpet my job is to walk in with this vacuum cleaner and walk out without it. He continuously insulted us and wouldn't leave no matter what we told him. I said we don't have the money to buy such an expensive vacuum cleaner and he said "don't insult my intelligence, if you can afford a soda (referring to a coke my wife bought with change) you can buy a Kirby. He kept using large words to try to scare us into buying it and kept using my kids as an excuse for us to buy it. I told him I had to leave due to plans I had and he wouldn't until I bought the vacuum. I was conned into buying this vacuum. He also took the vacuum my grandmother just bought is this last Christmas with him. This is disgusting to me and we want our vacuum cleaner back we want them to take this one back and some restitution for ruining our night that we had planed since he refused to leave. Thank you.Desired SettlementWe are seeking our vacuum to be returned, them to come pick up the vacuum they left and some sort of restitution for ruining our night and technically holding us until we bought this thing from him. Again, we told him we had to leave and told him we did not have the money for this, yet it just didn't matter because he wanted to make this sale.Final Consumer Response Kirby of Worcester responded to my complaint immediately and resolved the issue. Jamie was very professional and courteous in dealing with us and we are satisfied with the outcome.

Kirby sales rep refused to leave my home after demo. In desperation and sick with flu, I signed contract with intention of canceling next day.On [redacted] I was home with flu like symptoms. The same Kirby saleswoman returned to my home a second time. I told them I was sick and they were undaunted. Unfortunately, they hit me while down and I let the second salesperson, [redacted] in.She "cleaned" my couch (left huge stain which I have picture of) and demonstrated how dirty my carpet was. I informed her numerous times that I needed new storm windows, not a vacuum. She said she wanted to win a trip to [redacted] and needed to sell vacuum for [redacted] I told her I could not afford it and had no intentions of buying a Kirby. She was very pushy and not leaving anytime soon. I had to assist my 88 yr old neighbor in 1/2 hour, so to shut [redacted] up, I signed contract and made sure she agreed that "if I send this back within 3 days, contract is void, correct"? Absolutely. That was my intention. Next day, [redacted] I mailed post dated cancellation in envelope (not certified) SURE it would be there by midnight [redacted] I also called loan company, [redacted] and explained that I had mailed cancellation letter. After being sick an entire week, I finally called Kirby to question why they had not picked up their vacuum yet. Was informed that [redacted] was on vacation in [redacted] and would be back tomorrow [redacted] I called back and spoke to [redacted]. He stated he did not receive cancellation and it was "business as usual" as now the "problem" was out of his hands. I would not be surprised if that man did not just throw that cancellation letter away, he was that smug. I called loan company again, and they stated they had it on record that I called them the following day after demonstration and would be calling the Kirby office back to resolve issues If possible. I could go on, but will stop here. Never let anyone into your home while you are not well...One more thing. She did ask to take my kenmore vacuum which I refused, thank God. I let her take another vac I seldom used.Desired SettlementI would like cancellation request to go through and exchange Kirby for my old vacuum. I never intended on having a loan and do not want a Kirby in my home. Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted]Contact Phone: XXX XXX XXXXThe Kirby was picked up, and the contract with the budget company was cancelled. All monies and trade ins have been successfully returned to the customer. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience that this caused Ms. [redacted] and appreciate her patience in this matter. Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)I want to thank the people at Kirby for helping to resolve this issue. I have learned many valuable lessons through this challenge. 1) If you have no intention of buying anything, do not allow a salesperson into your home, be firm! 2) Never sign anything that can be legal and binding even though you think you can return an item within the allotted time-frame. 3) Mail all important documents certified. on 4-15-2014 I had eye surgery & a severe allergic reaction to eye drops. Two hours after getting home 2 ppl came to my door stating that they had just opened a storefront cleaning business in palmer. they offered to clean my rug or furniture. one came in & the other came in with a Kirby vacuum.. They used the same deception with all of my neighbors!! (there is no store in palmer). I have only a small rug under my coffee table, no carpeting. I said no numerous times while he was cleaning my sofa. When he saw me use my inhaler he started to tell me my allergens would kill me.I signed the contract, he left the vacuum. I got a call next day & I agreed to purchase. My eyes were swollen & inflamed until 4-26. I called to try to cancel on 4-28(I know I had only 3 days), but thought they may cancel due to my condition when I purchased & the devious sales tactics used.
