I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I
will respond to each issue separately.
There was a brief discussion about old marks on the brick floor. I pointed these out to Mr. [redacted]. We were not
living in the house when the painting was in progress. We met Mr. [redacted] each morning, opened the door
and then left for work; frequently leaving a key for him. Throughout the time he painted we were only
at the house briefly. Never during these
times did we ever see the brick floor covered as Mr. [redacted] describes. The only covering we ever saw was some clear
plastic taped to the edges. There was
never a comment about how pleased we were about how well the floor was covered.
We
own our own business so it would have been impossible for us to be there for
"the entire process." I have
no idea where he came up with the notion that we wanted hardwood flooring. In fact we have hardwood floors at our
business. We have two large dogs who
come to work with us and the floors at the office are quite scratched. Never would we install hardwood in our
home. In our complaint we asked that
touch up be completed as he indicated and that the paint marks (the color of
the ceiling and wall paint) from his labor be professionally cleaned. Again, replacing the floor wasn't even
mentioned to him or in our Revdex.com complaint.
Touching
up was never mentioned until the job was completed. Mr. [redacted] indicated that there was
"always" touch up work that needed done after completion. We did compliment him several times on his
work and his work ethic. It was
understood that we would contact him after we looked over the job. Since we weren't living in the house it did
take about a week to contact Mr. [redacted].
When
I called him I did indicate that some touch up would be necessary and told him
about the paint that had dripped on the floor. It is key to mention that the
paint on the floor matches the ceiling and wall paint. This is unmistakable and is clearly different
from older marks on the floor. On of the
larger spots has tread marks from a shoe.
He
agreed to come and review these issues with us.
A day and time was agreed upon and he never showed. Afterwards he let us know that something had
arisen with his son and he wasn't able to make the scheduled time. He did offer to come the next day and with
our business we were not able to accommodate his schedule. This was the last contact Mr. [redacted] ever made
contact with us. Mr. [redacted] never responded to our multiple phone calls, texts
and messages.
We
are absolutely astounded to learn that Mr. [redacted] is claiming that we said we
wanted a new floor. As indicated in our
Revdex.com complaint we are requesting that the spots be removed by a professional
cleaning company. We did not want the
situation to be made worse by someone who did not have experience in this type
of work.
As
time went on we became increasing concerned at Mr. [redacted]'s lack of response to
our numerous calls and messages. On of
my last lengthy messages to him was from late August. I explained that my sister had been diagnosed
with a very aggressive cancer and that we would be away through late September;
not two months. I asked him to contact us if this would create a problem. Again, no response.
My
concern grew and I called several times while away and when we returned. My last message to him was that I would be
making a complaint and wished that we could resolve these issues before
hand. No response.
I
will reiterate what we are asking for:
That
the touch up work be completed as he indicated when payment was received and;
that the paint drippings and marks left from the ceiling/wall paint be
professionally cleaned.
If
he is willing to pay to have someone "test" or verify that the marks
are from ceiling and wall paint this is fine with us. We would require that this individual be
mutually agreed upon and that this would be at Mr. [redacted]'s expense. Had he contacted us and returned to look at
the paint marks we think he would have reached the conclusion that these were
from his work.

Response to Revdex.comI still stand by my last response; I took all necessary precautions of prep work during the course of this job. There were no issues throughout the entire job because I was being watched by one homeowner or the other through out every hour of every day. This is where they lived as well so Im not understanding that they weren't there. Even the homeowners said many times bringing there dogs thru the work area that they were sorry about dogs walking on the drop cloths and painting areas. Perhaps they need to consider the countless amount of times the dogs came thru that there is a mark from them. I have no idea but its definatley a possibility. After receiving cash and many thanks I completed the job Its finished. Why would someone pay me cash when I said I don't even need cash and say thanks then contact me with these complaints weeks and months and months ongoing. If I had ruined there home 1 should not have been paid and further more been asked to create dn insurance ciairn. Nothing was brought up at the end of job about any issues until a week later then many months later. I personally don't hire professional floor cleaners after I complete a job. That's never been in my scope of work. I cannot justify a cleaner because there house and floors were clean when I left as they watched me remove drop cloths and inspected job said thank you for my services and that was the end.
