Kitchen & Bath Factory & Construction Reviews (3)

Review: Permits were issued for my property to convert an existing garage to a bedroom and update a bathroom. The permit [redacted] was issued from [redacted]y. Since Kitchen and Bath Factory pulled the permits on my behalf, I paid K&BF a total of 1389.81 on Jan 28th 2013. The job was completed on or approx April of 2013. All work was paid for in full for the completion of the job. On June 3rd 2013, K&BF received a refund check from [redacted] for the amount of 552.52. I only found out about the refund that was issued to K&BF when I needed to pull another permit for a new construction job. I informed K&BF that a refund was due and was informed that one would be given. That was on October 3rd 2014. On October 14th, I received a call from K&BF asking me if I had the cancelled check to prove that I paid for the permit. I informed K&BF that I did not have it and it would take at least 2 weeks for me to get a copy of the cancelled check. I have not heard from them since. On 10/25, I sent K&BF a copy of the breakdown of the permit and the refund that I obtained from [redacted]y proving that 1. The permit was paid for and 2. That a refund was issued to K&BF from [redacted] on June 3rd of 2013. I have sent repeated e-mails to find out the status of my refund, however K&BF has so far ignored them.Desired Settlement: I would like that K&BF refund me the amount of 552.52 as soon as possible, since that is what should have happened in the first place.

Response:

To whom it may concern,

After examination of our own financial records, and after obtaining copies of refunds issued by the city for permits, We concluded that the customers refund for 552.52 was in order.

Therefore we issued the check and was sent to the customers address on approx. 10/27/2014.

The customers dispute was taken care of and there should be no other issues, current or pending. The case should be closed.

sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me. I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Review: We were told the renovation of our 2 bathrooms and kitchen would be completed by the end of November 2013. The quality of the work is poor and newly installed cabinets have had to be removed and reinstalled due to incorrect installation and damage. Work is incomplete, installation of tile on the floors have not been grouted and sealed completely as well as tile work in the kitchen left unsealed. The job has gone over schedule by 6 weeks and is still not completed. The contractor brings in unlicensed unprofessional day laborers that don't know how to do the work correctly and the contractor does not supervise the work. We were told we could move in and now our furniture is covered with dirt, dust and in some cases have been damaged due to the unfinished construction. The contractor does not respond to requests for a finish schedule. Our other house has sold and we have to move out and into the renovated property and the work continues to be incomplete. The contractor does not care about how we have been inconvenienced and stressed. The delay in the work has cost us additional money since we are unable to move out of our house that has sold. In good faith we have paid this contractor and he has not abided by his quote to us that the job would be done by the end of November, 2013.Desired Settlement: We want to be refunded at least 15% of the fees charged due to the additional costs to us for not being able to complete our move into the renovated property since it is still not completed. I had to take scheduled 2 week vacation in December to move and was unable to move and have now had to go back to work and will not be able to take more time off to move when the work is completed (if it ever is completed).

We have original contract to do, complete master bath remodel, master bedroom floor tile, with kitchen remodel and 2nd bath remodel with total layout, changed additional work was performed, change order 1,2,3,4 , also from time to time we had to wait for a decision. We have worked on every day, all most every area of house , including new stairs, not finished because we have issue with the city. Please see enclosed, change order sheet.

During course of work there was ,2 to 8 people at a time , average 4 people

Work was started on Oct-14-2013 , till Jan-13-2014, total work 65 days.

Honestly:

I do not believe 3 months’ time is taken too long to do that much of work

Review: I requested a refund of my deposit of $1000 for my home renovation because the company failed to meet the requirements they have to submit to my bank at the same time caused delays on my loan approval and eventually making my loan application to expire. He forced me to change the initial floor plans and at the same time taking away 1br/1tb from the contract by saying my initial plans doesn't comply with HUD and the city of los angeles which I found out later that it wasn't true. He also was charging me for architect and engineering for the changed plans he made and then charging me almost $20k additional if I want that 1br/1tb added which actually was included in the contact agreement I signed. They breached our agreement and tried to manipulate me into changing the plans and wanted me to pay him more. I just wanted my deposit back but he made it look that I owed him instead.Desired Settlement: Have my $1000 deposit refunded back to me.

This letter is in response to Complaint ID [redacted] from customer [redacted] to ourcompany Solar Kitchen and Bath Factory and ConstructionTo whom it may concern,For this job requested to us, we received a plot and floor plan from the customer. We finished theplan and engineering given to us based on the customer's request that was supposed to be readyto submit to permitting authority. At the time the lender called us and let us know that the FHA203K program in new second house needed to be attached to the main house. We then had tohire the architect to satisfy the lender and the county to continue working on this project. Due tothe change of the plan and rise in the cost of the project, the customer then decided not to moveforward with the project. We are now charging the customer $4,500 because of this expense ofhiring the architect and engineering. Because ofthe $1,000 put down the client now owes us$3,500.Regards,[redacted]Solar Kitchen and Bath Factory and Construction1205 N Knollwood Circ.Anaheim, CA, 92801[redacted]Email;[redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The contractor and I signed a contract on 2/14/2015 to build total 1245sq.ft and 239sq.ft.addition to existing unit.I gave them my initial floor plans and told them that it's just a draft just to get the setbacks and total area I can build and that it needs to be checked with the lender on specific requirements as per HUD and FHA.The lender were following up with them for 4 months and told them the urgency but they failed to submit the final plans on time. They finally emailed me in June(cutting away 239sq.ft.addition to the existing unit and charging additional $20K from the contract agreement if I want to have that 239sq.ft.addition) which was not approved by me, nor by any engineer, nor the city. The damages they caused is more than the deposit of $1000 I am asking back. Their delays and manipulation to get more money from me is just unacceptable. But all I ask is that so I can move on.
