Kitchen Kraft Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: There are actually a few violations, including failure to provide an itemized receipt, failure to deliver goods as promised, unethical business practices, false advertising etc On October [redacted] 2012 my house was devastated by Superstorm Sandy. After 4 months of rebuilding and living without a kitchen I was finally ready to install kitchen cabinets. On February [redacted] 2013 I went to Kitchen Kraft to purchase cabinets. Upon entering their store I was immediately drawn to kitchen cabinets they had on display. I told the owner [redacted] what I had gone through with Superstorm Sandy and my rebuild and that I was looking to get a kitchen as soon as possible. She informed me that the kitchen I had chosen was imported and would take 4 weeks to arrive. I told her that was unacceptable and that I needed and wanted to purchase something that had no waiting period other than the normal times to schedule an in stock delivery. [redacted] showed me kitchen cabinets that “I can have next week” and told me “these come from the Carolinas.” I chose to purchase what she suggested and I paid her in full with my American Express card. When delivery was made the following week one of the wall cabinets was missing. This item was integral to the installation of the kitchen cabinets since it is located in the center of the kitchen wall. For the record, wall cabinets are always installed prior to floor cabinets so not having all of the wall cabinets stops the entire installation. After speaking with [redacted] I was informed that the cabinet in question was backordered and it would take 3 more weeks to arrive, thus putting my time from purchase to installation at 4 weeks or approximately March [redacted]. I informed [redacted] that if I knew that was the case and I was going to have to wait, I could have ordered the kitchen I originally saw on display instead of settling for something I can have “next week” as she promised. After inspecting some of the received cabinets I realized one of the cabinets had a broken hinge. I immediately called [redacted] and told her one of her brand new cabinets had a broken hinge and she told me “I’m sorry, these things happen, I’ll send you out two hinges just so you have an extra.” I never received the replacement hinges. I was also informed by [redacted] that they may have inadvertently delivered one piece too many when they made their delivery and she asked me to go over the items I had. Upon looking through the items we not only found that they did NOT deliver too many items, but, that I was also missing another item. The refrigerator panel that goes in between the backordered wall cabinet and refrigerator was never delivered. She apologized and told me she would send that out ASAP. Three weeks passed and I didn’t hear from Kitchen Kraft so I called them. [redacted] said she would get back to me. I never received a call and called them again the next day. I spoke to her husband [redacted] and was told he would have to talk to [redacted] and would get back to me. [redacted] called me back and told me she needed to speak to the manufacturer and would get back to me. I expressed my displeasure but had no choice to wait. I asked her about my refrigerator panel and was told by her “I don’t want to send a truck out twice, she would rather just wait until the wall cabinet arrives and make one delivery.” Since I couldn’t move forward with the kitchen installation it really didn’t matter at this point so I agreed. Another week went by and I did not hear from Kitchen Kraft. I called and ask them what was going on. Once again I was told they would get back to me. A day passed and I called again. I was told by [redacted] that the backordered cabinet would now be another 3 weeks putting my total wait to 7 or 8 weeks (approximately April [redacted]). Once again I expressed my displeasure. [redacted] told me to start the installation with what I had and get to the point where when the backordered cabinet arrived I can just complete the install. This is a very important part of this dispute! I never really paid much attention to the cabinets stored in my garage until I went to install them. Once I started to unpack them I saw that the boxes said “Made in China” and it all became very clear why I was waiting so long. My cabinet was being shipped by boat from China. I was told at the sale that “these cabinets come from the Carolinas and you can have them next week.” I was misled into believing these were domestic cabinets and instead found out they were made in China (something I did NOT want) and were just distributed through the Carolinas. I installed the wall cabinets I had as suggested by [redacted]. I couldn’t install the base cabinets as stated earlier and was at a standstill until my backordered cabinet arrived. Another few weeks went by and I called Kitchen Kraft again. Once again I was told they would get back to me. They never did. On or about April [redacted] I called them again and was informed it would be another 3 weeks putting my total wait at about 10 weeks. Please keep in mind that I ordered on February [redacted] and was now being told the earliest I would have the final cabinet was the end of April. I told [redacted] I could have had custom made cabinets built and installed in the time it took to get these cabinets installed. I told her at this point I never received the replacement hinges she promised, never received the refrigerator panel and that I was done, the relationship needed to come to an end I wanted to return the cabinets and get a full refund. I had been through enough, I had been without a kitchen (or most of a house for that matter) since October [redacted] and it had been long enough. I told her I was going to go to Ikea, going to buy cabinets and have them installed the next day. [redacted] told me “she needed talk to [redacted] her husband and would get back to me in an hour.” I never heard from them so I called the next day. Her husband [redacted] answered and I told him I wanted to return the cabinets and get a refund. He told me “he would have to talk to [redacted] and get back to me.” Each time I called the opposite person answered and I was told the same thing “they would have to talk to each other and get back to me.” This went on for three days. I was trying to resolve this amicably, however, that was beginning to seem impossible. On April [redacted] 2013 I called American Express to dispute the charge on my card. Finally after disputing the charge I heard from [redacted] and was told they would pick up the cabinets. [redacted] herself came with an employee to pick up the cabinets and told me that since some of the wall cabinets were installed she would not take them back or give me a refund for them. I told her that was not acceptable since she was the one who told me to install them. Please keep in mind I have a letter from her stating “…install everything else, just leave a space…” Some key points 1) I ordered my cabinets from Kitchen Kraft on February [redacted] asking for “domestic in stock items” that I can have immediately. 2) I was told the cabinets come from the Carolinas when in fact they come from China. 3) On or about April [redacted] I was told by [redacted] that I would have to wait until at least April [redacted] to have my last cabinet. 4) They never delivered the refrigerator panel they charged me for. 5) They never sent me the two hinges to replace the broken hinge that was in the brand new cabinet 6) [redacted] herself told me to “install the wall cabinets” as stated in her letter, and in doing so stopped me from being able to return the items according to her return guidelines. 7) The receipt they gave me doesn’t give the breakdown of each item only a total amount, I have no way of knowing what I was charged for specifically for each item therefore making a partial refund impossible This is a perfect example of a retailer taking advantage of a Sandy victim who was looking for nothing more than to get their life back in order ASAP. I respectfully request you put an end to this madness and stop this retailer from having my already astronomical bills added to by her lies and incompetence. I’ve been through enough. I need this to end.Desired Settlement: I will except nothing other than a full refund of my money since I was mislead, never received all of the products I purchased, was delayed almost 3 months to get a working kitchen, never received and itemized invoice and ended up using a different company to get kitchen cabinets.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Kitchen Kraft Inc. regarding complaint ID [redacted].

Sincerely,

Review: I tried having this company remodel my kitchen. I made an appointments and the man did not come for another 3 week- I had to call about 20 times in order for him to come. AFter he came and took measurements, he promised a call back the next day- I did not get one and I finally decided to call them again. They said the contractor will call by the end of the day and never did....Desired Settlement: I want this store to be closed.
