Kitchens by Dial Reviews (1)

Review: the kitchen re-face job started 4-27-15, with a promise of being completed in aprox 2 weeks. I took the first week off work to be here for the the bulk on the construction. My wife did not accept any clients for 4 weeks so that she would be available to be there to let the workmen in. We had problems from the start.

Dial delivered the wrong sink bowel. The [redacted] counter top was cracked. They measured the counter top incorrect;y. They did not even notice the mistake, I noticed it. after it was installed. They did not account for a slide-in oven. This after I gave them the complete specs for the oven months before.

Through all this, the owner (who I delt with up to this point) never even called me to talk about how they would resolve the problem. I had to research a solution on my own, contact the company to make the custom filler for the back of the oven, order it from a company in [redacted] and pay for it on my own. Through all this, the owner still did not contact me.

Their subcontractor came to install the [redacted] backsplash on 5-21(almost a full month from the start of the project) and was unable to complete the job (only half of the wall is covered) because the faucet on the sink was too high for him to maneuver it into place. The backsplash should have been installed BEFORE the new sink.

Throughout all this time, I did not have a stove/oven because they could not install that until after the backsplash was installed. Also throughout all this time we have had to have the 16 boxes that contain the contents of my old cabinets stacked in the living room and dining room. I do not want to clean the insides of the new cabinets and load them until the backsplash is completed because the dust that will be created from sanding the seams.

The owner never called me to discuss the backsplash problem until over a week later. The subcontractor called to try to reschedule but phoned at 8:00 pm and wanted to come the next morning. I only got home at 10:00 pm to pick up the message so it was impossible to change my appointments. Since then I have called the contractor but they have not returned my call.

The project was simply left unfinished.

Finally, on June 1 Dial called me to apologize and to complain that the subcontractor wanted paid and that he would not do that until the job was finished. He promised to get back to me with a resolution. Today, it is a whole week later and I still have not heard from Dial, the company we contracted with to handle the entire kitchen project.

My wife's work is with birthing women. She did not take any clients with due dates for a full month so she could be available to be there for the work to be completed. When she has clients due she needs to leave immediately when they go into labor. We thought that surely the work would be complete in a month since his estimate was 2 weeks. She did not get paid this entire time. This was a hardship we knew we had to endure but after giving twice the amount of time for the project to be complete and we are still having to make arrangements for workmen to come into the home is ridiculous.

At the very least, the owner of Kitchens by Dial could have been in touch with us on a regular basis to keep us informed of any efforts that were being made to move the project along and how he was attempting to resolve the issues.

How do I want this resolved? I simply want the work to be completed so we can get on with our lives. I want to be compensated for doing the research to resolve problems he should have been working on and to have that compensation along with the cost of the filler piece deducted from my final bill.Desired Settlement: finish installation of [redacted] on wall.

pay for spacer for oven.

adjust final bill having to resolve issues on my own, reimbursement for the filler piece and the inconvenience of being without a useable kitchen for over a month.

Response:

Sad to say this whole problem started because we had to unhook the faucet , and water filter to fit the new wall material. The customer said no to this option and getting our fabricator back on the Job reinstall was a mess up on their end. We have since than contacted the main installation boss , and made a new date with the customer to finish the piece missing , on June 19th. I will than meet with the customer to settle any final payments in question , that we agree on. [redacted] Owner
