Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] , and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meSincerely, [redacted] ***

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The last email I received from MrH [redacted] was on Feb 9th in which he said he was out of town and wants to come to a compromise and not escalate the situationI was busy and replied to him on Feb 11th telling him that escalating the situation was not my first preferenceThat doesn't mean I won't do it if he treats me unfairlyI told him I was open to hear any suggestions he had for a fair resolutionI did not hear back from him until this morning Feb 18th after I emailed him yesterday asking for an updateIn his new email, he said he asked me if I had received any of his previous emailsThe last email I received from him before today was the one on Feb 9th as stated aboveSo I’m not sure what emails he was referring to My complaints about him on [redacted] and Revdex.com were posted on Feb 3rdYou can actually go on [redacted] and Revdex.com and see the dates they were postedI’m sure those posted dates don’t lieNot sure why he didn’t know about the complaints until nowBut then again, he was absolutely sure that the granite counters that the granite installers brought the first time around were the correct ones until I sent him a picture and he realized he was wrong From day one, MrH***’s design plans NEVER showed where the sinks will be nor did he indicate the distance the sinks will be from the wallNo dimensions of the sinks, no drawings of the sinks, nothing about the sinks periodHence his statement that “I fully understood how the project would look” is simply not trueAnd it was not weeks later after the project was complete that I began to ask for solutionsI contacted him the day after his granite installer came on July 24thI still have the message thread on my phone showing the pictures of the sink I texted to him on July 25thHe even texted me back on the 25th and emailed me back on July 28thText messages and email records don’t lie He says I had ample opportunity to make changes to the plansWhat opportunity is he talking about? I had no such opportunity because he never showed the sinks in the plans or told me that the sink would be inches from the wall and that I would be rubbing my shoulder up against the wall when I’m using the sinkAs a professional designer, how can he leave out such important details? In response to his timeline of events: On July 18th, the cabinet maker that he enlisted came and installed the cabinetsHis name was [redacted] from [redacted] based in SnohomishWhen my handyman came out a couple days later, he noted that the way Gary designed the cabinets was very oddIn one of the bathrooms, the cold water switch is hidden behind a set of drawers, and it's separated by a partition from the space beneath the sink where the other plumbing pipes/lines areNow if the cold water lines had to be maintained or the cold water turned off, the drawers have to be pulled out completelyJust to clarify to any novices like myself, the cold water and hot water switches and the plumbing drain hole in the wall are all fixed in place and cannot be movedThe way to accomodate them is to design the the cabinets accordinglyAlso the toekick at the base of the cabinets also became unstuckI called MrH [redacted] about the toekick and he was quite unpleasant and asked "Well what do you want me to do about it?" I said I thought he might want to have some feedback on the workmanship of his contractors, and he said "Thanks." I then told him that the cold water lines had to snake across the partition and the cold water switch had to sit behind the drawers and it would be hard for maintenance or just to turn off the cold water handleHe said it's not that often that you would need to do thatWhat kind of response is that? In regards to his point on July 20th, I am NOT an expert in construction of any kind nor am I experienced in interior designI am not responsible for his assumptions that I should understand all these things. After his contractors installed the cabinets, I took a cursory glance at the wood and the overall look, but I did not study the precise locations of where the sinks would beIt is ridiculous to say that I should've noticed that something was wrong when the cabinets were installedI don't work in this industryWhen the granite company came out to do the electronic template, I did not know what they were doing and I doubt any person who’s not experienced in bathroom remodeling wouldIt was all high tech computerized equipment that they were using and I had no clue as to what they were doingThey did not explain to me that "Hey this is where your sinks will be." That's the responsibility of the interior designer In regards to this point on July 23rd, like he said, the mistake with the wrong counter [redacted] occurred in ANOTHER bathroom, not the master bathroom with double sinks in questionThe sink’s location in this other bathroom is fine, so how would I know that something was wrong with the sink’s location of the master bathroom by looking at the counter [redacted] of this OTHER bathroom? Completely unrelated and irrelevant In regards to his point on December 16th, I have tried to live with this sink for several months to see if it would work outIt did notSo I was considerate enough to at least give it a shot for a few months, and now he’s using that against me to say how come I didn’t ask him to pay for his mistake right off the batApparently being considerate can cause you to be taken advantage of So in summary, I did not have “ample opportunity” to change this sink location as claimed by this person However, I'm willing to work with him on a compromise that's agreeable to both parties because I'm reasonable Sincerely, [redacted] ***

With regards to complaint# ***
We have reached an agreement:
We have both had our say and I also am a reasonable person We had come to an agreement on 02-18-2016, prior to his last posting
Assuming he will abide by this agreement, as I will, I am also willing to move forward and put this behind us
The terms of said agreement can be displayed if he so chooses

Response to Complaint # ***
To begin, I have been in this industry for over years and have never had a complaint
During our conversations on this matter, while out of town on business, I agreed to work with Mr*** on a resolution and a compromiseHe agreed to that and further agreed
that escalating the issue would not happenWhen I returned from my business trip I found this complaint and a posting on ***. I have e-mailed him my disappointment on the escalation issue and the offer still stands for a resolution and compromise. I have not heard from him on this matter since the 12th of February
Mr*** had ample opportunity to ask questions and make changes to this remodelHe indicated to me that he fully understood how his project would lookIt was weeks later, after the project was complete, that he began to ask for solutions, not for me to pay for them, but just what could be doneI did several sketches and made some suggestionsAgain in December he asked for ideas
On February 9th I agreed to work with him on the cost of replacement after I return from out of town meetings and after stating my positions clearlyI feel that I was in the right as much as he thinks I was wrong and we agreed not to escalate thisHe made no mention of this filing nor the posting on ***
These events and postings will do harm to my year reputation of customer careI have taken care of all my clients from the day I first started in this business as I will this with shared responsibility in this matter
Ignorance of the remodeling process does not exclude asking many questions, all my clients ask questions as to where things will be and how they workI work very closely with all my clients and explain how things will look and where things will be placed until such time as the client understands and agrees to the plan
Please review the chain of events below and see how much I went out of my way to assist this person in his time of need and how many opportunities he had to ask questions and make changesI have copies of E--mails and drawings as proof of the above statements
Sincerely
Gary PH***

July 17th: The contractor (Whom I pulled from another project to help Mr***) did the tear out and installation of all cabinetryAnother point where sink location could easily have been changed
July 20th : Two additional days of cabinetry changes are possible at this point and it would be obvious where the sinks would be as there were drawers next to the sink cabinetThis day the template (albeit electronic) was made, yet another day to make changes
July 23rd: ***s were installed with sinks in place. Here, I made a color selection error in another room and (at my expense) replaced the *** with the correct color the next dayYet another chance for him to change the design

February 4th through the 6th 2015: Now he starts asking me to pay for this
Mr*** had ample opportunity to question and change this sink location

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
The last email I received from Mr. H[redacted] was on Feb 9th in which he said he was out of town and wants to come to a compromise and not escalate the situation. I was busy and replied to him on Feb 11th telling him that escalating the situation was not my first preference. That doesn't mean I won't do it if he treats me unfairly. I told him I was open to hear any suggestions he had for a fair resolution. I did not hear back from him until this morning Feb 18th after I emailed him yesterday asking for an update. In his new email, he said he asked me if I had received any of his previous emails. The last email I received from him before today was the one on Feb 9th as stated above. So I’m not sure what emails he was referring to.
My complaints about him on [redacted] and Revdex.com were posted on Feb 3rd. You can actually go on [redacted] and Revdex.com and see the dates they were posted. I’m sure those posted dates don’t lie. Not sure why he didn’t know about the complaints until now. But then again, he was absolutely sure that the granite counters that the granite installers brought the first time around were the correct ones until I sent him a picture and he realized he was wrong.
From day one, Mr. H[redacted]’s design plans NEVER showed where the sinks will be nor did he indicate the distance the sinks will be from the wall. No dimensions of the sinks, no drawings of the sinks, nothing about the sinks period. Hence his statement that “I fully understood how the project would look” is simply not true. And it was not weeks later after the project was complete that I began to ask for solutions. I contacted him the day after his granite installer came on July 24th. I still have the message thread on my phone showing the pictures of the sink I texted to him on July 25th. He even texted me back on the 25th and emailed me back on July 28th. Text messages and email records don’t lie.
He says I had ample opportunity to make changes to the plans. What opportunity is he talking about? I had no such opportunity because he never showed the sinks in the plans or told me that the sink would be 5 inches from the wall and that I would be rubbing my shoulder up against the wall when I’m using the sink. As a professional designer, how can he leave out such important details?
In response to his timeline of events:
On July 18th, the cabinet maker that he enlisted came and installed the cabinets. His name was [redacted] from [redacted] based in Snohomish. When my handyman came out a couple days later, he noted that the way Gary designed the cabinets was very odd. In one of the bathrooms, the cold water switch is hidden behind a set of drawers, and it's separated by a partition from the space beneath the sink where the other plumbing pipes/lines are. Now if the cold water lines had to be maintained or the cold water turned off, the drawers have to be pulled out completely. Just to clarify to any novices like myself, the cold water and hot water switches and the plumbing drain hole in the wall are all fixed in place and cannot be moved. The way to accomodate them is to design the the cabinets accordingly. Also the toekick at the base of the cabinets also became unstuck. I called Mr. H[redacted] about the toekick and he was quite unpleasant and asked "Well what do you want me to do about it?" I said I thought he might want to have some feedback on the workmanship of his contractors, and he said "Thanks." I then told him that the cold water lines had to snake across the partition and the cold water switch had to sit behind the drawers and it would be hard for maintenance or just to turn off the cold water handle. He said it's not that often that you would need to do that. What kind of response is that?
In regards to his point on July 20th, I am NOT an expert in construction of any kind nor am I experienced in interior design. I am not responsible for his assumptions that I should understand all these things. After his contractors installed the cabinets, I took a cursory glance at the wood and the overall look, but I did not study the precise locations of where the sinks would be. It is ridiculous to say that I should've noticed that something was wrong when the cabinets were installed. I don't work in this industry. It was all high tech computerized equipment that they were using and I had no clue as to what they were doing. They did not explain to me that "Hey this is where your sinks will be." That's the responsibility of the interior designer.
In regards to this point on July 23rd, like he said, the mistake with the wrong counter[redacted] occurred in ANOTHER bathroom, not the master bathroom with double sinks in question. The sink’s location in this other bathroom is fine, so how would I know that something was wrong with the sink’s location of the master bathroom by looking at the counter[redacted] of this OTHER bathroom? Completely unrelated and irrelevant.
In regards to his point on December 16th, I have tried to live with this sink for several months to see if it would work out. It did not. So I was considerate enough to at least give it a shot for a few months, and now he’s using that against me to say how come I didn’t ask him to pay for his mistake right off the bat. Apparently being considerate can cause you to be taken advantage of.
So in summary, I did not have “ample opportunity” to change this sink location as claimed by this person.
However, I'm willing to work with him on a compromise that's agreeable to both parties because I'm reasonable.
