Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/09/22) */
We are a custom motorcycle repair and restoration shop. Customer sent in his parts for us to customize by making a special spacer for his wheel, the rim was bent when we received it. We informed the customer of this and have a video from our...
technician showing it damaged.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 11, 2015/10/04) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
At the end of the day, they did a lot of work on the part to get it right and kept their cool during a tough few years of work. My concern is around the shipping and damage to parts I should not have had to send in the first place which were damaged while in their custody.
I have emails sent to them 12/9/14 with photos showing the wheel prior to shipping with no damage. I received an email from the tech 1/13/15 upon receipt showing damage during shipping and listing damage to fork leg sliders and the finish but no mention of wheel damage. The "off the shelf ready" front end was shipped back and forth 12 times, 3 of which are photo documented as being damaged during shipping, as it was not "ready" as advertised. It is obvious that either the rim was damaged during shipping or during fitting by Kiwi.
I do not understand how a company could ship parts without the appropriate coverage against shipping damage. I insured it when I shipped it back to them on my dime because things happen and would expect them to do the same.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 13, 2015/10/15) */
The wheel was damaged when the customer shipped it to our shop; we informed the customer of this. Any damages should be taken care of via the shipping company. Customer even admits that he insured it when shipping product back to us, he should be dealing with them, this is not our responsibility.
