February 12, 2013Dear [redacted] ***:The transmission on the [redacted] pick up was repairedOur customer, [redacted] , picked up the truck on February 7, after the repairs were completedIf you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact our office at your earliest convenience.Sincerely,Steven M

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the responseIf no reason is received your complaint will be closed Administratively Resolved] Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: January 23, Re: Klassic Kids Inc ID # [redacted] Ms A [redacted] acknowledges correctly that I “did my homework” before puchasing the vehicleShe does not mention that in addition to taking it for a test drive (a bit less than the mile distance that she specifies), I requested that I be allowed to take it to a mechanic near my home to have it checked, as I was concerned particularly that the brakes and motor be in good conditionMr M [redacted] declined this request, citing the distance involvedI live about miles from his place of business and only recently began working in the area, so I was unfamiliar with any of the local repair shopsI contacted a nearby RV facility ( [redacted] in Bath, PA), but they were unable to inspect it within a reasonable period of timeI relayed this information to MrM*** Mr M [redacted] assured me that the vehicle was in good condition and said that he would have it inspected (there was no sticker on the vehicle) to make sure that it wasHe then reported that it passed inspection and that it was in very good conditionAnd no point during our multiple conversations did he point to the signs on the wall, particularly the one saying that “all of our cars are junk, no b..s..” Instead he repeatedly told me that it had been well maintained and was in good conditionThose signs were visible on his wall and I took note of themThis was one of the primary reasons that I asked for his assurancesOne cannot hang a sign on the wall, particularly one that could possibly be taken as less than serious, and have that sign override or negate verbal assurancesRegardless of what his signs said (and again, he never mentioned them) he assured me that the vehicle was in good condition and had passed inspection without problemsI trusted him to be a man of honor and that his word was his bond When I test drove the vehicle the week before it had not been driven recently and it was cold when startedWhen I arrived at about 4:on the 27th of November to complete the purchase the vehicle was not on the lot as Mr M [redacted] had asserted earlier in the day that it would beHe made a phone call at that point, and a driver brought the vehicle over, arriving at about 4:This means that the vehicle had been driven an unspecified distance and for an unspecified time, possibly for up to ½ hour, and at unspecified speedAs I stated in my previous chronology, when I drove the vehicle away I did not go more than a mile or two on Route before I noted that the one gauge, the temperature gauge, was very elevatedThe vehicle was already overheated when I took possession of it, and should not have been drivenWhether or not MrM [redacted] was aware of this, I don't know, but the vehicle was not as he represented it to meHe could take this issue up with the person who inspected itI believe that to pass inspection a vehicle must be driven and determined to be safe and drivableHad I been allowed to take the vehicle to my own mechanic for inspection these problems would undoubtedly have been identified Ms A [redacted] states that I called later that evening to say that the vehicle was not running right and seemed to be running hotIn fact, I placed this call less than minutes after leaving their lot and from a distance of not more than ½ mile from that location, having turned aroundInstead of saying that it was not running right, I said that I was stopped on the shoulder of the road, that there had been a puff of smoke coming from the vehicle, and that the gauge indicated the vehicle was overheatedMrM [redacted] instructed me to drive it back to a nearby parking lot and that he would look at it around 8:in the morningHe instructed me to leave the keys in a wheel wellI told him that I did not want to re-start the vehicle as that might be unsafeA state policeman and a roadside assistance tow truck arrived at this point (and the police report will confirm time and location), and I told MrM [redacted] that I would have it towed to the appointed spot, that I would be staying locally (I had no other transportation home and it was cold and dark) and that he should call me when his folks were ready to arrive at the vehicle and I could be there with the keys within minutes As for having signed the “as is” document, I did so knowing that the vehicle was older with a variety of non-essential but possibly tourblesome parts, including propane heater and stove, refrigerator, air conditioner etcGiven Mr M***'s assurance that the engine and brakes were sound, I had no trouble acknowledging that the rest of those items might not be functional and beyond his responsibility I purchased the vehicle with the assurance that the vehicle was drivableIt was notMrM [redacted] should refund the purchase price or pay for any repairs necessary to make it drivableI acknowldge that the appliances etcon board are not his responsibility, The basic function of the vehicle, its drivability, certainly is Regards, [redacted] ***

January 15, 2016To Whom It May Concern:Klassic Kids Inc is a used car sales business located in Bethlehem PA.On or about November 21, 2015, [redacted] stopped in at the place of business located at [redacted] Bethlehem, PA known as Klassic Kids IncHe expressed interest in looking at a [redacted] Motor home located on our lotHe expressed interest in the vehicle and wanted to go on a test driveHe took the vehicle for a test ride that started on [redacted] and went onto [redacted] following [redacted] to [redacted] which was about or so milesWhile on the test drive, we located the original owners manual and lots of documentation for the work done on the vehicle by the prior owner [redacted] seemed interested and stated he would be back[redacted] came back after he stated he did some of his own research on the specific model but wanted to check it out again and wanted to know if he could take the manual and papers to review the documentation on the vehicleWe allowed [redacted] to take the documents with the promise to return same to the lot the next day, which he didAt that time he become increasingly more interested in the vehicle and discussed the condition of the vehicleAs the motorhome was a diesel and since Klassic Kids does not have an in house mechanic that works on diesel machines, Klassic Kids agreed to have the motorhome checked over and the motorhome was sent out and checked by a garageThe garage contacted Klassic Kids and indicated the vehicle was in overall good condition and stated they could inspect same if Klassic Kids was interested in having it further checked out for inspectionKlassic Kids obliged and the garage inspected and passed the vehicleWhen [redacted] came back to the office expressing interest in buying the Vehicle on a cash deal, Klassic Kids passed along the information that the garage man indicated; that the vehicle was in overall good condition and it passed inspectionKlassic Kids made no representation other than the vehicle was looked at and inspected.MrLauer certainly did his homework before entering into the purchase of this vehicle. On or about November 27, the sale of the [redacted] Motor home was initiated and completed with [redacted] ***We prepared the necessary paperwork for the sale of the vehicle and all paperwork was signedWe will point out that the vehicle is sold "AS IS without any warranty either expressed or implied. My letter should stop here as we are not obligated to assist with [redacted] issues any further[redacted] took the vehicle and drove off the lotLater that evening, he contacted Klassic Kids to state he had not gotten very far and the vehicle was not running rightIt seemed to be running hotAs a goodwill gesture, Klassic Kids advised [redacted] we will attempt to help himKlassic Kids instructed [redacted] to leave the vehicle at a nearby parking lot and leave the keys on the front tire as we would send a tow truckThe 1st tow truck responded that same evening however no keys were left so the vehicle could not be movedAfter some back and forth with [redacted] ***, the following morning a second attempt to tow the vehicle was madePrior to towing the vehicle, the mechanic saw a puddle of antifreeze around the vehicle opened the hood and saw there was a hose that let looseHe left and secured clamps, hose and antifreeze to get the vehicle up and runningHowever the vehicle did not start, so we towed our yard so we could take a more thorough look at the vehicle to try and troubleshoot the issue with it not running. We did keep in contact with [redacted] the entire time we were looking over the vehicleUnfortunately, we were not able to troubleshoot the problem any further. We would like to point out that we did attempt to assist [redacted] with his issueThis issue did occur after [redacted] took possession of this vehicle, and at some point while he was driving it, a water hose blew [redacted] continued todrive the vehicle which in turn overheated the motor [redacted] must have redlined the temperature running the vehicle hot.On Saturday, December 26, [redacted] did come into the office and we spent time with him going over the issues, the contract and the future [redacted] asked us to have the vehicle towed to a location he desired as we understand he will bring it to a specialty mechanic.Again, we had no obligation to troubleshoot his problem. All of our car sales are purchased AS IS and we attach a copy of the document signed at the time of the sale as well as the signs posted in our business office stating the AS IS policy as well.Respectfully,Jeanne A.Customer Relations
