As stated in our previous response, we believe Mr *** has received the quality parts and service that he paid forWe fixed the only leak in the a/c system that presented when the vehicle was in our shopAfter the faulty a/c service port was replaced the a/c worked perfectly and the compressor seal showed no signs of leaksIt was days later before the compressor seal began to leakI understand that Mr *** is frustrated because his compressor is bad but this is not our responsibilityHis multiple threats to sue and slander our business, calling us liars and inviting us to kiss parts of his anatomy does not change this factWe can not agree to a $refund as Mr *** requests.Mr *** states on numerous communications that he must stand on principal to see this issue throughWe are prepared to do the sameOur only desire is for this issue to be resolved amicablyOur offer to apply a $discount to Mr *** for an a/c compressor job standsWe hope this gesture of goodwill will meet with his approval

We are very concerned about your complaint and it is currently under review. Please advise the current status of your vehicle so we may consider that accordingly. Also, according to your original complaint [redacted] did not respond to your email. Has [redacted] responded to you since either by email or...

phone? Thank You.

Mr. [redacted] brought his 1999 Chevrolet Prism to our shop because it had sat for a year, would not start without a jump, had a “noise” under the hood, non-working a/c and needed a state inspection. After a thorough review of the vehicle we determined the following: Battery was...

bad and needed replacement, two tires had insufficient tread to pass state inspection, serpentine belt was cracked and would not pass state inspection, power steering pressure hose was leaking and would not pass state inspection, power steering fluid was dirty and contaminated and needed to be replaced and a/c system needed to be charged with freon and inspected to determine cause of system failure. At this time we recommended that Mr. [redacted] replace the battery, two tires, serpentine belt, power steering pressure hose, change power steering fluid and charge the a/c system with freon to determine the source of system failure. Mr. [redacted] agreed to this work and we proceeded accordingly. The total price for all work performed was $955.38.As with most a/c repairs, system problems may exist that are not detectable without the system being fully charged with freon. It is our standard practice to add leak detection dye with the freon to help us identify various sources of leaks. It was necessary to charge Mr. [redacted]'s a/c system with freon and dye to identify system problems. This is the process necessary to IDENTIFY system problems not FIX them. This is the work approved my Mr [redacted]. The actual fix can not be determined until faulty parts or the source of system failure has been identified. Upon adding freon and dye to the system, it was immediately evident that the a/c service port was faulty and clearlyleaking freon. After replacing the faulty service port the a/c systemheld pressure under vacuum which is our standard method of checking system integrity. After the system passed the vacuum test it was fully recharged with freon and system functioned normally and no other leaks were detected. After running the vehicle for a period of time under normal operating temperatures and pressures the a/c compressor began to leak freon from the front seal. This indicates that the compressor is bad and needs to be replaced. We provided Mr [redacted] an estimate to replace the a/c compressor. We also offered Mr [redacted] a discount of $192.31 on this job as acourtesy. We were certainly under no obligation to offer this discount but chose to do so out of appreciation to Mr [redacted] forhis patronage. Mr [redacted] declined the work. Now Mr [redacted] is requesting a refund for $512 which is completely out of bounds. First, the $955.38 Mr [redacted] paid was for parts and services as discussed and agreed upon before any repairs were performed. Second, the total of all a/c work was $192.31. How can Mr [redacted] expect us to refund more that he spent on his a/c system? All charges in addition to the $192.31 were for other unrelated work detailed above. Lastly, any reasonable person understands that no repair shop can beexpected to identify or fix components that present no problem. Neither our vacuum test nor leak detection dye indicated any problems with the compressor seal at the time of service. We are a family owned and operated business with three locations serving the Austin are since 1972. My technicians are ASE certified to perform this type of work and do so every day. We appreciate Mr [redacted] putting his trust in us for the repair of his vehicle. We have responded with the honesty and integrity that our customers have come to expect from us.We would be happy and willing to respond to any reasonable request to make this situation agreeable. Thus far we have not been presented with one by Mr [redacted]. It is our opinion that the $192.31 discount offered to Mr [redacted] for an a/c compressor job was above and beyond the norm and shows an honest effort on our part to resolve this matter. As it stands, it is our opinion that no refund is warranted and Mr [redacted] has received the quality parts and service he paid for.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I don't want a CREDIT, I want a REFUND of $192 in cash plus about $14 in sales tax and court costs if it comes to that. I picked up the paper work to file at Justice Court, Williamson County Precinct 2, Small Claims, [redacted]. Room [redacted] this afternoon. You might want to save that address.    I am home...read it...and it will cost over $100 to file it.  I'll risk that. As we both  said...it is the principal of it!    I will file it before the end of the week.  I'll make any further arguments in court.  I have two witness's that the A/C didn't work from day one.  I still haven't YELP'ED   Been busy.  The last Revdex.com REPLY message I sent  didn't work so I sent it directly to your e mail. I'll do both.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: I didn't request the safety inspection in my original hand delivered letter to '[redacted]'. I asked ONLY to fix the A/C and noise under the hood. The phone in estimate to me was $720 for those two problems. IN THE LETTER, I warned him that to DYE TEST because two topping-up of Freon [by others] failed. I can identify the 'noise' costs of labor and material in the work order. That lists $256. The balance was APARENTLY for the A/C work. I now asked asked for a better accounting of what was only A/C related in that $750 bid. If it had been dye tested., both leaks would/should have been found. Fixing ONE leak wouldn't and didn't fix the A/C.  Although, according to the Department of Public Safety, a serpentine belt is NOT a requirement for a safety inspection as I was told. I don't argue it's need or not. But it was a lie as a requirement. The safety inspection was not included in the bid. Nor was the tires. I don't know about the new expensive battery and the charge for it's installation. I have asked the them on email if it was. They have not yet answered. I had asked them to see if it would hold a charge. I don't know if they did that or just replaced it. I want and will sue for all the labor and materials involved on the A/C work...not just the Freon gas. That offer was $130 CREDIT, not what his reply states. I want all the labor charged on the testing, the not effective A/C repair ...and I'll even trust that the battery was checked before it was replaced. That was $113.  I will want nothing more or less than $451 dollar refund for the non-working A/C. I'll settle for that. I'll have to pay someone else to start-over to fix the A/C and re-do ALL THAT A/C LABOR. The new estimate of $845 for a re-do is rejected. If he wants to give me $394 credit and FINISH THE JOB, I will bring it back.  Failing that, I will take it to court on principal no matter what it costs. [redacted]
