I have been doing work in central Ohio for years nowI have always went above and beyond to do quality work at a responsible rateThis is my first ever complaint after having atleast happy clientsThe story is that I removed interior doors from the guys house, and installed new
very low quality mdf doorsBefore I even started removing the door casings his wife which was a very nice lady by the way ( dont worry about the casings we are wanting those replaced Asap)Also she asked me for an estimate on day three of the four day projectShe asked for an estimate to replace the door casings and the base in the lower level of the homeSo hours into the job they are still happy with all of the workI did not break all of the door casingsHowever I did break a couple, the wood was pine first of all, second of all it was over years old, and it had atleast nails in it per boardAfter removing the door casings on each side, I started measuring the framing of the door openingsEvery single one of the doors where off square by at least 3/8ths of an inch two were over an inch out of plumbSo that means that I had to cut every single door jamb down to even get the doors to fit in the right areas of the framingI then had to notch out two of the door jambs to function with the hardwood floors, also had to create the striker mechanism seat( a recessed area for the lock mechanism)I installed the hardware, applied two coats of paint to the doorsEvery single door, locks shuts, opens and closes with correct movements I had man hours in a hour jobI went above and beyond anyones expectations to complete the jobI will remember to avoid clients like this in the future, he was really strange even prior to starting the projectI truly did go above and beyond, with doing things that were not even in my contract, such as installing the hardware for the doors, cutting down all of the door jambs, notching door jambs out to work with the hardwood floors, recessing the striker mechanismI would never remove any foor casings from anyones home without trying to take it off slowly and neatlyI was using a inch flat bar to try and remove without breaking the door casingsI have never tried that hard on something, and have someones wife be very thankful, and for someone that knows absolutely nothing about any of this stuff try to say something bad is just sadAt the end of the day I gave it 110% ended up making per hour, all of the doors are very neatly painted and everything functions as it shouldThe modlings did break not all of them, and on day three his wife wanted me to do the entire lower level of the homeMy mistake was that I didn'tstop the project and explain everything extra that needed done and how much it was going to cost right in the beginning of the project. Thanks

Like I said before, I knew better to even work for someone loke this, that was the biggest mistake I made was not going with gut decision on how bad of a person he really isThank you to all of the other couple hundred very nice and thankful clients I have had!!

Jared states in the email the job was to only be 10 hours long, this was never communicated to us as the customer that this was only a 10 hour job. He also states the door quality was cheap MDF doors. He is the one who directed us to [redacted]'s to purchase the doors as they have excellent quality. As a professional with 8 years of experience as he so states in the email, if he felt the quality was sub par, he should have informed us that the quality was "cheap". On the morning of day 3, the last coat of pain had dried so my wife checked the doors and there was an issue with all four of them. The pantry door did not close at all, the bathroom door had a gap at the top which created a popping noise, the basement door was flush at top but protruded out the bottom, and the closet door was flush at top with a large gap at the bottom. Jared arrived around 10 AM or a little there after, where the issues were brought to his attention. Jared, along with his crew, worked to correct the issues. When the job was finally completed, he presented the billing invoice with a rather unprofessional note included. My wife did inspect the doors and we will say the paint job was done very well and all opened/closed without issue. Upon reading the invoice, he indicated he wanted extra money (under the table) for the extra-time spent on the job (please see attachment of the invoice) as it ended only being $11.00 per hour. As a customer, no business should ask for additional payment when the job does not go 100% correctly. I am going back to the lack of communication from Jared in the beginning with not setting the proper expectations of the project. I am trying to figure out how painting four doors at two coats per door with proper installation would only equivalate to 10 hours per his stated response in the previous email and how as a customer I should pay more money than the quoted priced for him to correct the mistakes along with him having run out to purchase additional material to ensure the job could be completed. We paid him the estimated price and no more as I felt I should not have to pay more. After reading the note again, and re-checking the doors, we noticed the closet door was rubbing the jamb in the lower right corner and the bathroom door still had gaps. At this point, a decision was made not to hire K[redacted] Construction for any more projects in our home. I will say I did leave a review stating I was not satisfied with the work completed at my home in which Jared, extremely unprofessionally, responded with texts messages to my personal phone calling me a "grumpy old man" and constantly kept referring to me to as an "angry" person. The texts start with saying social media, reviews on a public sight would not be considered social media. I have included the texts he has sent to me. This is another example why I would not hire his construction company to do any more work in my household. I once again informed him that I was not happy with the quality of work I received in my house as I do not feel he has much experience in door installation. Please see the attachments of the invoice and the text messages I have received from Jared K[redacted].  I

FIRST OF ALL I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW I'M A BAD PERSON. I HAVE BEEN MORE THAN PATIENT WITH THE WHOLE PROCESS. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE PERFORMED AT MY HOME IS NOT EVEN CLOSE TO BEING DONE CORRECTLY. I HAVE SENT PICTURES AS PROOF OF THIS. I ALSO SENT A COPY OF THE WORK ORDER ALONG WITH SOME OF THE MESSAGES EXCHANGED. I AM NOT SURE WHAT ELSE I NEED TO PROVIDE TO SHOW PROOF. HE BASICALLY DID NOT PROVIDE SERVICES AS ADVERTISED TO MY WIFE AND I. I NOW HAVE TO REDUE THE DOORS HE INSTALLED SO WHAT DID I PAY FOR?WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE?
