Knights Cabinets

Hello my name is [redacted] and in February of 2013 I had an estimate don'e through Knights Cabinets for a small project in my kitchen. The estimate was done and I paid the required down payment of half the total cost. Several weeks later I still had received no contact from them. I called and I was told we were waiting for the wood to arrive. I was told the over all project would take around 4 weeks to complete. At this point they had been screening all of my calls and refusing to return any of my voice mails. My daughters birthday party was at the end of June and I was assured it would be done by then. Still nothing. In July I started to show up in the office at this point they acted like they forgot what I needed from them I sent them pictures and retook measurements. I had to do this twice for them. For the next few months I continued to make phone calls but no responses. When I showed up in the office they would put me on the books but never show up. I would call before the appointment and let them know I was expecting them they wouldn't answer and I would leave them a voicemail. In November I became very anxious to have the project done before I moved away for school and they assured me it would be completed before I left. I even said if they couldn't do it before I needed it I would take a refund and go somewhere else but they assured me my needs would be met. I feel that I expressed patience and kindness towards them but I was not receiving the same in return. They told me that do to the length they would do the project for the price I had already paid and require no last payment. The last contact we made they told me I could come get the materials and do it myself a project I clearly can't do myself a whole cupboard needed to be removed and redone. I am very frustrated with the situation and would just like the project done correctly and in a timely matter. If they choose to refund me I would like compensated for the wasted time on the matter. In NOV 2015 I contracted with Knights Cabinets to fabricate and install kitchen cabinets. A tentative install date of week before Christmas was set. This was very important because I was doing a floor repair and removing the existing cabinets. During this week MR. Knight called and said the install would happen the following week, on 27th or 28th. He was a no show and no phone call. When the cabinets were finally installed, in a piecemeal fashion,and after many excuses , from waiting on material to personal issues, the cabinets were installed toward end of February. They were sure not what I expected for "custom Cabinets". Counters were uneven across stove opening and not flush at dishwasher, door pulls misdrilled and patched with silicone, island painted wrong,counter/bar had no corbels for support, gaps were left between crown molding and ceiling, Since the project was not complete I kept waiting for a follow- up call to check and see if there were any issues we found after using the kitchen or since no payment was forthcoming was there a problem with payment but no; what do I receive? A certified letter threatening me with a lien filing on my property. During this time I found out that what I was going thru seems to be standard operating practice for this "business". The sad part for us is the anticipation and excitement of a new kitchen was replaced by stress, uncertainty,disgust and absolute disappointment with this local business. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT THIS CABINET MAKER STAY AWAY!!!!Desired SettlementA few problems are in the process of being taken care of. My main complaint now is I want all the doors and drawers that were not properly prepared and painted, to be removed , sanded and repainted as thy should have been in the first place. This is to be done in a timely manner preferably one week, or if he does not want to do this then take a considerable amount off the bid $3000 dollars sounds good. Repaint the island while he is at it, since that was painted wrong color also.
