Knight Heating and ac, Hillsborough, NC, replaced a heat exchanger part on our HVAC unit on December 4,2014, and only verbally quoted me the cost of service. I have called repeatedly to get the actual cost for service rendered, but they refuse to return my phone calls. Their customer service is terrible, as my initial call for service, Nov 5, 2014, they set an appointment early morning and showed up late afternoon. In fact, every appointment I've set with them they fail to keep. They don't return phone calls, period. A bill was then mailed to the customer and later returned undeliverable. A second bill was sent which the customer has received. All calls have been returned in a timely manner or answered when they were placed. We have never generated a bill at the time of service but have always billed upon completion of the work. Which is exactly the procedure we followed when dealing with this customer. We have been in business for over 40 years and pride ourselves on our customer service. I have resolved this matter with the customer but he is still unsatisfied and is yet to pay for services rendered at the verbally quoted price. We are not the type of business to verbally quote a price and then later bill another higher amount. Consumer Response I am replying to the comments [redacted] made about my claim to the My request to have my phone calls returned regarding the actual fee for the 12/4/14 service was to verify the verbal quote the technician gave me on 12/4/14 for $710. I had to leave my residence, before the removal and replacement of the heat exchanger, to go on an errand, and I didn't know if the technician had to replace any other parts, thereby increasing the cost of service. I called the office the next day, 12/5/14, to verify the fee was still $710. Only after repeated calls and contacting the Revdex.com on 12/8/14, did [redacted] call me to state the actual price was still $710 and that she would be sending an invoice out in the mail. Ten days went by and [redacted] called me, 12/18/14, to say she had mailed the invoice but it came back "undeliverable". When I asked her what address she put on the envelope, it was the same address I had given the office before each service call on 11/5/14 and 12/4/14. I had not paid the $710 service fee because I had not received the invoice, or written proof of the verbal quote. I received the invoice on 12/23/14 and mailed a check for the amount on 12/27/14. The mail service in Hillsborough, NC is excellent for mail going across town and she would have received it by Tuesday 12/30/12, but my bank account, as of 12/31/14, shows she has not cashed the check yet.[redacted] claims Knight Htg and AC has been in business for 40 years, but [redacted] states the business was founded in 1995, or 19 years.
