Knotty Custom Cabinets AZ

I hired Brandon M of Knotty Custom Cabinets in January 2020 to provide cabinets for my home kitchen and 2 bathrooms, with an estimated finish date first 2 weeks in February. He took 1 check from me in $4,524.00 on 1/9/2020 for materials and supplies. Then then asked for another check on 1/31/2020 in the amount of $2,454.58 for the fabrication of the granite I picked out at ***. Following the 2nd check and after it was cashed, he had to go to MN for personal family issues and his communication became very limited. At that time, I too was having personal family issues with my oldest daughter, and felt sympathy for him. I then became concerned when weeks later, I still hadn't heard from him, and decided to call ***. I spoke with both the manager and general manager who said that they still had the slabs, Knotty Custom Cabinets never picked them up or paid for them, and they recommended I pursue small claims court, that I had gotten scammed. In early April, he called and gave me every excuse in the book, but came to my house, very friendly, and ensured that I would be his very next project. We also discussed downsizing, therefore, not having to pay him more money. I even recommended a friends' son who was willing to apprentice for him, in order to provide Knotty Custom Cabinets the "help they needed". However, he's now back in MN, not returning emails or phone calls. The only way to reach him was to reach out on ***, telling him that he's breached our contract, written, verbal and implied, and that based on the horrible reviews on the web, he needs to refund my money immediately. At this point, he's taken $6,978.58 from me, and no services or product has been provided. Additionally, the contract stated specifically that this project was supposed to have been completed on or around Feb 10th, 2020. We are now at the end of May.
