I brought my car in for service due to a steering issue My wheels seemed to turn without any input from the steering wheel The issue was getting worse and more noticeable so I brought her in I am a mechanic myself but had no time to do the work Once the work was done, I payed over the phone as I was at work The pricing was fair They replaced bushings on the rack and pinion then did an alignment which all costed about $ That night I picked the car up Over the course of the week following, my steering started to go back to the way it was I jacked the car up to see what could possibly be happening It took me all but seconds to find what they had done They DID attempt to change my bushings, all But only changed one the only one you can see from the underside The main bolts that hold the assembly in were barely hand tight I removed the whole entire assembly and found the other bushings were shot and not changed at all Called Kobars since my car was not road worthy even before I took the assembly out They told me my power steering leak was to blame, and that it ate away the rubber on the bushings which caused the bolts to back off I would normally believe this, but the fact a week had passed, the rubber was almost completely gone, and was bone dry Power steering fluid is corrosive, but it would take more than a week to eat through a tshirt, let alone an automotive bushing meant to withstand the corrosiveness of steering fluid NOT ONLY THAT but the rubber from the bushing was compressed around a solid metal cylinder a bolt runs through the bolt tightens onto the metal NOT the rubber IF the rubber really did get eaten away, the bolt would still hold tight against the metal cylinder as that is what it tightens against Bolts should NEVER be tightened on just rubber because they will back off no matter what you do I inspected my rack, found that it was leaking (meaning the leak was UNDER the bushing that they said was eaten away.) Ordered a new rack and installed myself I then convinced Kobars to do a free alignment I showed up for the alignment with the bushings and asked them to explain to me what happened men then tried to explain that my leak caused the issue I explained the leak was not above the bushings but below and had no effect I asked them if they knew how many bushings my car even had and if they even replaced them all They right there said "We are not sure if all the bushings were replaced" and would not take it back in to rectify I pushed on the issue but they set my keys down and said "Do you want the alignment or not" My life WAS in jeapordy after I picked the vehicle up Driving from Gilbert to Phoenix DAILY with a car that could have lost all steering is horrendous The fact that they felt they could bully a year old mechanic is appalling They thought they could double dip my wallet if my issue came back I am free to be contacted about the issue

I was at work when my wife called me and told me her car and the steering wheel started shaking real bad and she was scared to drive itI told her to put on the hazard lights and slowly drive to the closest repair shop which happened to be kobarsThey put the car on the lift looked at it then told her to come take a lookThey said the drivers side wheel needed new lug nuts and new studs and showed her that the wheel was really looseThey told her that they needed to be replaced immediately or the wheel could fall off and they were going to charge her $to do the workShe didn't have the money on her to get the repair done and I was at work and couldn't bring her the money so she left and picked up our month old son and drove it homeWhen I got home I jacked the car up and inspected the lug nuts and studsTwo of the five studs were broken, which I knew about and have been driving that way for monthsWhen I inspected the other three all of the threads were totally fine and the studs strong, just loose lug nutsI tightened the three lug nuts which strongly secured the tire and drove it around the block with no issues what so everThey were willing to risk the life of my wife and month old son to make $180, when all they had to do was tighten the lug nuts for her

I went to Kobar’s to have my transmission look into because it was making a funny noise and it was skipping I asked one of the owners of this place if they work in transmissions and he told me “YES” we do Came to find out after I left my car there that they DO NOT work in transmissions…they send the cars out to a transmission shop call “Preferred Transmissions” (which you can see my reviews on them as well) This happened two in half years ago to the date Today, my car needs another transmission re-build because of the use of low quality parts or use parts that were use to re-build my transmission
As far as I’m concern regardless of the friendly service they run a lousy business with way below expectations on their partners as well Because of this business now I’m out $for the job and another $in car rental due to not being able to deliver my car on time
If I could I would put you and your partner out of business, I just hope that future customers read this evaluation on the kind of crap you call business

Called Kobars since my car was not road worthy even before I took the assembly out They told me my power steering leak was to blame, and that it ate away the rubber on the bushings which caused the bolts to back off I would normally believe this, but the fact a week had passed, the rubber was almost completely gone, and was bone dry Power steering fluid is corrosive, but it would take more than a week to eat through a tshirt, let alone an automotive bushing meant to withstand the corrosiveness of steering fluid NOT ONLY THAT but the rubber from the bushing was compressed around a solid metal cylinder a bolt runs through the bolt tightens onto the metal NOT the rubber IF the rubber really did get eaten away, the bolt would still hold tight against the metal cylinder as that is what it tightens against Bolts should NEVER be tightened on just rubber because they will back off no matter what you do

My life WAS in jeapordy after I picked the vehicle up Driving from Gilbert to Phoenix DAILY with a car that could have lost all steering is horrendous The fact that they felt they could bully a year old mechanic is appalling They thought they could double dip my wallet if my issue came back
I am free to be contacted about the issue
