Kolb Mechanical Corp. Reviews (1)

Review: I originally called Kolb Mechanical because the AC was not working properly on the 2nd floor of my [redacted] home. I made an appointment and the engineer who was supposed to arrive at 10am showed up at 8am to look at the problem. Having just gotten out of bed we showed him to the 2nd floor and basement where he looked around and said he'd need to return with someone else to do some trouble shooting to find the issue. He was supposed to call us to let us know when.

After a countless number of calls to the staff at Kolb Mechanical to try and firm up an appointment, having not heard from the engineer, we were able finally set up an appointment for a Friday, I do not remember the precise date. Just as someone from Kolb Mechanical called to confirm this, literally minutes later I received a voice mail from my contractor, who was doing work in my home, saying that Kolb Mechanical had just left and done some work. I was NOT home at the time. This was the Wednesday prior to our Friday appointment. It would seem that engineer just showed up and my contractor had mistakenly let him in, assuming that he was authorized to be there.

Unfortunately for me the engineer did not tell me what the problem was prior to doing work, did not give me a quote and never called me to explain what he did. Repeated attempts to speak to the engineer to find out what he did went unanswered. He did leave us 1 message but it said nothing other than to call back which we did. I still have the message. I still haven't heard from engineer or anyone at Kolb Mechanical to explain what they did.

The worst part of this is that the problem with the AC is even worse. In fact it is worse on the 2nd floor than it was and now also doesn't work properly on the 1st floor.Certain vents no longer blow any air at all on the 2nd floor. At one point in August we had water from condensation from the AC unit running down the new wall board and freshly painted living room wall. I have photos. We still have no idea what the engineer did when we weren't home.

As far as I am concerned the engineer entered our home without prior authorization from us and damaged our home.

We have left numerous voicemails after the fact to speak the engineer or anybody at Kolb Mechanical and also to let them know that the engineer damaged the house and AC unit further. I haven't heard back from anyone at the company.

Finally, I have received and continue receiving bills from Kolb Mechanical with late fees for $195.37. I have yet to hear back from the company and have taken to emailing them now. I've emailed twice and again have not heard back. I just continue to receive bills. This is why I am finally contacting the Revdex.com.Desired Settlement: a 0 balance and an apology.

A company cannot enter someone's home, do work without prior consent and then charge them with no explanation even as to what work was done. As far as I'm concerned Kolb Mechanical made the situation worse and damaged my home. I didn't have flooded walls until they'd gone in there. I would actually like financial compensation for what they've done but I'm willing to accept $0 balance and for them to stop sending bills and leave me alone. If they don't I will be taking legal action.

Business

Response:

We were contacted by the customer on July *, 2013 to address weak air flow from the air conditioning and dispatched a technician on July *, 2013. The technician looked at the system but was unable to do anything that day due to the system being frozen. The technician returned on Saturday July **, 2013 to address as well as evaluate the existing ductwork that the customer requested an estimate to upgrade or redesign. The technician was unable to actually do anything other than evaluate that the ductwork requires upgrading and would provide the customer with an estimate of cost to perform the work. The charges arose from the standard service call fee as well as the time spent at the home to evaluate exactly what was happening with the system. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience the mis-communication caused the customer and have issued a credit in full for the customer's invoice. If you need any additional information please d on't hesitate to contact us.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

The circumstances that Kolb Mechanical describes are a misrepresentation of the facts and in addition they completely disregard the other issues I had mentioned previously.

We never requested an upgrade or redesign of the duct work. We asked them to fix the air flow problem. If that means redesigning the duct work that is fine but we were never told that or provided an estimate as to how much it would cost. As I explained in my previous email, Kolb Mechanical entered my home without authorization, did work and NEVER had the common decency to contact me and explain what they did. Never mind the fact that the air flow problem is worse on the second floor than before they came and that we had water from condensation from the AC unit coming through the newly installed and painted dry wall in our living room this past August. As far as I am concerned Kolb Mechanical damaged our home and we still to this day to not know what unauthorized work they did when they entered our home without our permission and without us being home.

Surprisingly in their response they don't even mention the most important issue of the whole fiasco which is the damage they caused and unauthorized work they did.

I am not looking for any compensation for the damage done but I would like the Revdex.com to understand that during this whole episode this company has failed to contact us after repeated calls and emails to explain what they've done, entered our home without authorization and damaged it. It is only after we contacted the Revdex.com that we were able to get some, albeit distorted response from them and to only a small part of our query.

Thank you,

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
