Kona Land & Water Escapes, Inc. Reviews (8)

As

stated before in former correspondence we intend to take care of list the Customer

has requested, which we have been working on. However, these repairs would have

gone faster if we could talk to customer directly instead emails. Customer’s

health at this time not good. He is battling cancer so I can understand his reluctance

taking time for a meeting. We feel we have taken care of most of the things on

his list and are waiting on his response. The draining issue requires more of conversation

with the customer. . We will of course take care of any reasonable issues this

coming week as stated in our email.

Have not

had response yet from the customer.

Thank you

Sincerely

RE: ID#: [redacted]

To Whom It May...

Concern:

Our company over the many years we have been in business has enjoyed a very good reputation  not only with state agencies but with the Revdex.com. We continue to care about each one of our customers and the work we do on their behalf. Addressing the complainant’s concerns: We finished the project on time. The Customer’ seemed pleased. The job was very difficult because of very hard soil conditions. The Customer contacted us on 12-21-2013 with some concerns. He has since added to that list. The delays occurred for the following reasons: Our company closes operations between 12-22 of each year until Jan 6. The Customer was apprised of this situation, that there was no one available to do the work During the first week in January my mother passed away after a long illness; in which she received 24 hour care in our home. We have 4 family members who are employees in our company so these two things occurrences happening back to back created an unusual situation in our company. Although we addressed some of the issues, we were not able to complete the adjustments in our normal timely manner. We sent an email on 1-18 and told him we would get his concerns as quickly as possible. We have since commenced addressing concerns.

Thank you

Sincerely

Not all landscapers are created equal. In the last four years I have worked with four different landscapers and Kona is the best one I have dealt with by far. [redacted] did a superb job trimming five trees. He knows what he is doing and they look fantastic. Kona also trimmed the shrubs and cleaned out the yard completely to my satisfaction. They removed four full sized oleanders and an olive tree. The olive was replaced with a lemon tree and oleanders were replaced with bamboo screen. They did all of this in a day as agreed including grinding down the stumps. [redacted] also had excellent suggestions on adding some new plants and replacing others and was on hand to supervise. When I need more landscaping done Kona is who I will call.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Things are going very slowly.  We have a lake in our backyard now with the rain.

Regards,

Review: We contracted Mr. [redacted] to do landscaping and other yard work at our home. We paid him cash, in full, for this work and have experienced continued problems. Now that he has been paid, he refuses to address our correspondence or make the necessary repairs required so that the job is done right. This has been ongoing for almost two months and in the meantime we have a portion of our lawn that is flooded, sprinklers that are not set properly, not all plants are getting water, and some of the plants we paid him to purchase and plant for us have died. He assured me over a week ago that he would take care of matters, but he has not returned in order to make any attempt to do so, nor has he communicated with us in any manner. The job is incomplete and requires his immediate attention.Desired Settlement: We want Mr. [redacted] to resolve the issues at hand and see that his work is completed correctly right away. The drainage in the backyard needs to be corrected to eliminate flooding. Sprinkler boxes need to be set properly. We expect him to replace the plants that have died and make the required repairs at no additional charge.

Hopefully this review will help anyone from having do deal with Kona Land & Water Escapes. The company had previously installed a filter and automatic chlorinator on my pond which currently works well but it took a month for the equipment to come in, I had to follow up on when it would arrive, and it was installed without me being home with no instructions on how to use or service either of the pieces of equipment. A week later I got a nasty call that I hadn't paid the rest of my deposit which they got incorrect and were overcharging me for, and then were calling the wrong number so I didn't even know the bill wasn't supposed to come in the mail....

Nonetheless this complaint is because I gave the company a second chance and called them because my pump power cord failed. When I called I got a lecture from [redacted] about the integrity of the company and that they were the best in the business but were too busy and couldn't come out to see my pond until the following week. After my concern that my pond would go green in 112 degree weather he told me he would come in 2 days at 5-5:30am in the morning. The day he was supposed to come I requested to be late to work and he didn't show up or call. At 8am I called and he told me he forgot and it wasn't his fault, his office made a mistake (I directly made the 5am appointment with [redacted]). He then said he had someone in the area and they would be there in 30minutes. This second person never showed up nor did I get a return call. By noon I called again and [redacted] became rude - I was informed that it wasn't his fault, his office made a mistake, they were very busy, and they would be there in the afternoon. I suppose my time off of work was no concern of his because no one can be as busy as him. When I asked when he would come he responded why does it matter and I don't need to be there. Since I had to go to work it didn't matter when they came. [redacted] was insulting and yelling directly at myself and my partner on the phone and making unusual statements about my pump problem not being his problem and that he would get there when he was good and ready. I immediately ended the conversation and called an electrician who fixed my problem in an hour.

I would chalk this up to [redacted] having a bad day in the heat but he preceded to call my partner's cell phone 3 times over the following 2 hours and when she answered all she could hear was him working and talking in the background. Sure he could have accidentally redialed her number but I then got an email from [redacted] the following morning with the subject "Kona" and his logo only in the text portion. Mistake on redialing maybe , but an email sent to me pushing the company logo in my face - well that's turned to harassment at this point, and immature harassment at that.

I would NOT recommend this company to anyone - [redacted] talks a big game but is not operating a respectable business and I would think nobody wants a company owner that like to harass customers out working on their property.
