Koppy Motors Inc. DBA; [redacted] Body Shop [redacted] Youngtown, Az 85363 [redacted] 10-20-15 Dear Sirs, This is in response to ID#[redacted] On 8/25/15, [redacted] came into [redacted] Body Shop for an estimate for repairs to her...

2010 Honda Civic EX. The estimate was written by [redacted] who was an employee of [redacted] at that time. On 9/17/15 Mrs. [redacted] made an arrangement with to leave her car here on 9/28/15, for the repairs that [redacted] had estimated. The agreed repairs would be done while Mrs. [redacted] was out of town, on vacation. Mrs. [redacted] also asked about the cost of having the car detailed while it was here, Cindy called her back, with the cost, after she left, and she decided not to have the detail work done. The first thing that was necessary to do this job correctly, was the vehicle went straight over to the paint department to have the paint work completed, it was in the paint department from 9/28 till 9/30. After the paint work was done, the body tech received the vehicle in the afternoon of 10/1, so he could than start the next step of replacing the left and right side weatherstrips on the doors. The next day of 10/2 the Body Tech preceded to start to replace the windshield weatherstrip.  It was at this time the body tech, informed [redacted], the Shop manager, that the strip [redacted] had estimated for the repair, was wrong.( [redacted] left the employment of [redacted] on 9/11/15) He than asked [redacted] to come out and look at the vehicle, to see what part was actually needed.   [redacted] than went back and reviewed the parts picture on her file, and determined that [redacted] had quoted the wrong weatherstrip for replacement. [redacted] estimated the cost of the correct part, and it was appx. $300. He than contacted a glass company (GlasTek) to ask their advice on replacing this weatherstrip, to see if there was another alternative.  It was at this time that the glass company said that the weatherstrips were a bad design by Honda and the only way to correct it was to replace them. They also said that if she was to ever have her windshield replaced, that those weatherstrips would be replaced at that time too, as the insurance companies recognize that these cannot be reused because of the fact that they are not holding up to the elements, and are a poor design by Honda. (They only had this design for 2 years because of this) At this time [redacted] knew that Mrs. [redacted] was out of town, and could not precede any further, without discussing it with her.  [redacted] did call the number Mrs. [redacted] had given, and received an answering machine,  he did left a message for Mrs. [redacted], asking her to call as soon as she got back to town, as there was a problem with the weatherstrip.  When Mrs. [redacted] came into the shop on 10/7/15, at approximately 12;00pm, [redacted] meet with her, and explained what had happened on the original estimate that [redacted] had written. [redacted] offered to paint the weatherstrip clips black for her, so they would blend in with the weatherstrips, as the problem was that the weatherstrip is plastic, and had gone bad from the elements, and the clips were showing. Mrs. [redacted] declined.     [redacted] also than showed her a diagram of the correct part, and gave her a copy of that printout.  He told her that the cost of the correct weatherstrips was considerably higher, and we did not replace it.  Mrs. [redacted] was upset because she said that she was already told this by the Car Dealership, and that she never would have had any of the work done if she knew it was wrong. [redacted] did remove the cost of the weatherstrip and the labor off her bill, and also gave her a 10 percent discount. Mrs. [redacted] than left, without taking her car. She returned about an hour later and paid for her repairs and took her car.  We are sorry that this happened, and normally we estimate repairs accurately. This is a case of an honest error being made, by Kevin, while writing the estimate. We did try to come up with a solution, to help take care of this but Mrs. [redacted] declined.      Also a copy of our disclaimer, would have been printed out, an given to Mrs. [redacted], at the time of the estimate, which clearly informs customers about parts being subject to vendors invoice, and prices cannot be guaranteed.   Thank you, [redacted] Co-Owner Koppy Motors Inc.

They never called while I was away. The paint was secondary issue, the primary reason for me bringing my car to them was the weather stripping. I never would
have left my car if I had known this.

I am writing this review for koppys body shop, who serviced my vehicle on 7/31/15. My vehicle was outfitted with not only used, but also malfunctioning electrical equiptment... I contacted them regarding repair and tow services, and they left my son, girlfriend and myself in the heat for 3 hours until they could get there rather than dispatch a close tow truck.... they attempted a hack job repair that did not work, and left us in the heat... the owner of the business told me, well you will have to figure out...and left us out in the heat on our own... TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!

Review: Given an estimate to replace weather stripping around windshield and door windows and to paint door jams. They under estimated the job so only did the doors not the windshield. It was the windshield I wanted fixed, they never called, went ahead and did the doors only. I paid a reduced price but now still have to have the windshield fixed.Desired Settlement: I feel I was taken advantage of, it was the windshield I wanted fixed. I would never have agreed to pay that price for the doors.
