Koss Corporation Reviews (3)

Review: I was previously GA. inmate [redacted]. On 8/30/13 I turned in my CL20 headphones into I.D. at [redacted] to be returned to Koss. I didn't get them back until 1/30/14. I'll give a week for CSP to do their job & a week for the mail. But it took entirely too long to get them back. I have other complaints about Koss Quality and service. I'd like An apology and a solution to this problem for other inmates.

Response:

I have reviewed Mr. [redacted]'s file and find that he did send in his lifetime warranty CL20 on August 16, 2013 and we denied his warranty for failure to pay the required $9 shipping and handling fee.

We again received Mr. [redacted]'s CL20 on December 9, 2013 and sent his replacement on January 1, 2014.

Per our records, Mr. [redacted]'s warranty did not take from August, 2013 to January, 2014.

If you have any further questions, please contact me.

Review: On August 4th, the tip of my UR30 headphones became bent and when inserted into a device, no sound came through. So I wrote Koss to make sure that the lifetime warranty was still valid. Koss confirmed that it was valid and sent me instructions on how to send the headphones to them. I then sent them in on or about August 21st.

After not hearing from them in over a month, I emailed customer services on October 5th asking if there was an issue and their reply was that they were "a little behind on processing warranty." They were "processing ones received the third week of September" and they apologized for the delay.

On or around October 22nd, I received a package from Koss and opening it, I found a pair of UD30 headphones but the note in the box stated that "No Elements Inside This Headset" on a Post-It note (not on the original work order - order number [redacted]). I then emailed Koss stating what was on the work order and asked them what this meant.

Not hearing ftrom them, I called on October 23rd to the customer services desk and explained my situation but the young lady on the line did not seem to care regarding the issue. Once I arrived at work the same day, I emailed [redacted]) voicing my concern regarding the empty headset that they sent me and not explaining where my other headset was. I did not receive a reply from him. I called back to the customer service desk and spoke to a different operator (Shirley) who was the person that the repair tech gave the empty headset to to have her sent it to me. I told her that I emailed Mr. [redacted] and she stated that he was not in that Friday but would be in the following Monday and she would talk to him about the issue.

After not hearing from anyone from Koss, I emailed Mr. [redacted] on November 4th again and stated my situation again.

All I want is a working pair of UR30 headphones or something similar. That is all I want. Like I've told the operators and Mr. [redacted], I love my headset and the company, as a whole. And I would purchase products from them in the future.

Please let me know how to proceed at this point.Desired Settlement: All I want is a working pair of UR30 headphones or something similar. That is all I want. Like I've told the operators and Mr. [redacted], I love my headset and the company, as a whole. And I would purchase products from them in the future.

Response:

When Mr. [redacted] originally sent his headphones in to Koss Corporation there was a mix up on Koss' end and we shipped him someone else's UR30 headphones which did not have elements in them. When Mr. [redacted] called Koss Corporation and we realized what happened we sent out a new pair of UR30's to him. They shipped out on 11-3-15 via USPS tracking [redacted]. We apologize for any delay and confusion. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Koss

Review: In 2011, I bought a pair of Koss UR55 headphones. Back then, they were great. They were high-quality, and they cost almost $50. Unfortunately, I lost that pair in a hotel room. So I went to [redacted] to get a replacement of the same exact model. Oddly, the price was marked down to $30. Thinking it was just a good deal, I bought the headphones...only to find that Koss's quality has severely decreased.

Fast forward to today. I have now paid for 4 pairs of Koss headphones, each time replacing previous ones that have broke. Why wouldn't I switch to another brand if I'm having such bad luck with Koss headphones failing, you may ask - because the price kept dropping. To $25, $22, and most recently, $16. I couldn't afford NOT to buy them at that price. But each and every time, there was some problem within weeks of ownership. The low cost of the headphones made it not worth shipping them to Koss under the warranty, because the two-way shipping would cost more than just a new pair of headphones.

The problems that these headphones incur have included faulty wiring, crackly sound, pads mysteriously becoming unglued from the side of the headphones, and most recently, I put the headphones on my head only for the right ear to crack and pop off, hurting the right side of my skull (not a medical injury, but enough that I decided I'd had enough with these garbage headphones). I don't even have a large head that would cause the headphones to strain. They are just manufactured poorly each and every time, and this is the last straw.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for all of the Koss Headphones I have purchased over the past 2 years that have been defective in one way or another. I can easily furnish invoices for each purchase upon request. This has gone on too long and I've basically donated over $100 to Koss for products that break or stop working.

Response:

In response to Mr. [redacted]'s request, I am unable to give him a refund for his purchase of Koss Stereophones because he did not purchase them directly from Koss within the last 30 days (our return policy). If Mr. [redacted] would send in his defective stereophones, we will repair/replace them under out limited lifetime warranty.

The UR55 has not changed since it was introduced a couple of years ago. If you have any questions, please comtact me.

Response:

Our warranty policy says that the consumer must ship the product to Koss Corporation along with a $9 check for shipping and handling (our warranty can be found on our web site www.koss.com). I am willing to waive the required $9 shipping and handling charge per stereophone if Mr. [redacted] would send in his defective units.

As of this date, Mr. [redacted] has not sent in any of his defective units under our limited lifetime warranty.
