I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
As I stated the prices they are charging me do not meet a reasonable nature $for a minute apt (not including the Drcharge) and a boot that I can get online for $is not reasonable If Froedtert expects to be paid for these services they will adjust the bill to a reasonable level As far as the defective product, I expect not to receive a bill for replacing something that they provided This is what I would call terrible customer service and I plan on letting everyone I know to take their business elsewhere seeing as there are many other options in the Milwaukee area and I certainly plan to do the same if they don't make an adjustment

The Froedtert Health Patient Financial Services Department was made aware of these concerns and we have spoken with the patient on several occasions.  Our official review was completed on 12/4/15. A call was attempted on 12/8 and contact was made on 1/8 advising of the review decision.As...

we have shared our final decision with the patient, we do consider this issue closed.  The patient call contact our Patient Relations Department at ###-###-####, should he wish to further pursue this concern.

In order to provide the most comprehensive of services, it is necessary for Froedtert to partner with other healthcare providers at times.  In Mr. [redacted]'s situation, Home Care Medical is the Company that Froedtert partners with for our Durable Medical Equipment.  We make the process and partnerships as clear as possible to the patients.Mr. [redacted] signed the DME consent for while in the hospital, which is a Home Care Medical form regarding the use and finanical responsbility for any durable medical equipement that is dispensed within Froedtert.  Furthermore, we know that Mr. [redacted] has been in contact with Home Care Medical in an effort to resolve his issues and that they have directed him to follow up with the actual manufacturer.  Regarding the charges for the Orthopedics follow up clinic visit.  Froedtert Health prices its services, procedures, and supplies in a manner that meets regulatory requirements, providea a market competitive price, covers services, procedure and supply costs and allows for continued provision of high quality health care while meeting the health system's operational and financial goals.  A strategic pricing peer review is completed annually and is used when setting prices. We stand by our charges for the services provided and will be moving forward with our standard billing practices. As stated in the previous response our Patient Financial Services Departments is always willing to work with patients to assist in getting a bill paid.  This includes, Financial Assistance, and installment billing as appropriate. We are considering this issue closed and will not be responding further as we have no new information nor a different decision to provide.

Since I was provided the crutches originally by the ER - the issue should not have been run through Home Medical and should have been resolved by the hospital - also they were the ones I contacted about the replacements and should not be passing on the responsibility.  As far as the charges, I am not arguing that the services were not valid - my argument is they are not reasonable.   It is not a matter of not being able to afford the charges, it is that they are excessive.  For a 15 minute appointment it is not reasonable to charge over $700 plus the charges by the doctor.  Maybe insurance companies feel this is reasonable but I do not.  I feel if these extremely high charges are going to be given the patient/customer should be made aware of up front.  I own a company and I know if I showed up and charged such high mark-up's and charges I would be run out of business.  If they expect to be paid on this I will expect to see and invoice on the cost of the boot to show a reasonable mark-up and expect much more of an explanation on why they charge such high fees for someone to cut a cast off with a scissors.

We have responded to the patient regarding his
concerns.  Our Emergency Department was
made aware of Mr. [redacted]'s concerns with his crutches on May 19th.  Upon hearing the information, we immediately
reported the issue to Home Care Medical, our partner in providing...

durable
medical equipment to patients.  New,
replacement crutches were delivered to Mr. [redacted] that day.
Home Care Medical has also responded to Mr. [redacted]'s
concern multiple times.  HCM worked with
the manufacturer to complete a thorough investigation into if there was a
problem with the integrity of the crutches.
We are aware that Mr. [redacted] has received an official response from
HCM and has been directed to contact the manufacturer directly for any future
concerns.
Additionally, Froedtert hospital does not bill for the
durable medical equipment that is dispensed in the ED.  The patients sign and consent form for all
DME that is provided via Home Care Medical and the bills for such items would
be coming directly from Home Care Medical.
We also addressed Mr. [redacted]'s billing concern with the Orthopedic
Clinic.  This complaint regarding the
cost of services was reviewed on 7/23/15 and found to be valid.  During the date of service in question, he
was charged for an office visit, case removal and a boot.  The total charge of $719 was applied to his
deductible and remains the patient responsibility.  The patient will be called today to advise
that applying for Financial Assistance would be the only way to further reduce
this bill.
We apologize that Mr. [redacted] has not been satisfied with
our response, however his issues have been reviewed and we have done our due
diligence in looking into and addressing his concerns and will not be
contacting him further regarding this issue.
