Review: My wife and I found Mr. Kremmel's website online and contacted him about custom making a hood cover for the vent above our range. His website advertises that he specializes in hardwood cabinetry. After exchanging many emails with descriptions, pictures, and dimensions of what we wanted he gave us a price of $1,600. He wanted us to pay half up front, so we gave him a deposit of $850 over the phone. Shortly after this we drove our vent to him so he could build the cover to the exact specifications. He told us he could have it ready in 6-8 weeks. After 8 weeks, we began contacting him for updates and pictures. After many attempts to get an update and a picture, we finally got a picture 2-3 weeks later. The picture looked nothing like what we had requested. The product looked like it was just spray painted and very unfinished. We drove out to pick it up a few days after receiving the picture. We had expressed to him that we weren't pleased with it. By the time we arrived to look at the finished product, he had destroyed it and taken it apart. We did not want to deal with Mr. Kremmel any longer due to his lack of professionalism and poor product, so we asked for our money back. He would only agree to give us half of our deposit back. He claimed to need the other half to pay the finisher and for the materials that he used. We agreed to that, and he was to mail us a check for $400. A month later, we received a check for $200. After many attempts to contact Mr. Kremmel for the remaining $200, he said he could not give it to us and offered us adirondack chairs instead. This is unacceptable, we were being generous by allowing him to give us only half of our money back and he is still unable to deliver on that. I have multiple emails showing our agreement and our conversations, and would recommend that nobody use his services for any type of custom work!Desired Settlement: Ideally, we would like our entire $850 deposit returned to us since we did not get a finished product. We have only received $200 out of the $400 that we were promised, but gave a deposit of $850 total.
