KRL Builders, Inc. Reviews (2)

The first thing I would like to respond to is that there have been no messages left on my answering machine or cell phone from ***. I cannot say where they might have left messages...but I have been building in the State of CT for over years and I respond to all messages in a prompt
manner. That being said my response to this claim is as follows:The chimney was built to the State Building Code and was inspected by the Town of *** Building official before a Certificate of Occupancy was issued. Chimneys should be inspected periodically and maintenance performed at that time. It is obvious that this was not done here. Virtually all crowns can and do crack without this maintenance. It is not, as *** has said, due to faulty workmanshipWhen people contact me about repairs I always recommend that they get or more estimates. The warranty on this home expired approxyears ago. *** *** is very wrong in saying that the chimney was not constructed to code. Which leads me to wonder what else he was wrong about. Without me responding to you *** would have you tear down and rebuild to the cost of thousands for no reason. According to International Residential code Runder "multiple flues" KRL's subcontractor built this chimney to code. The *** Building Dept. will also be notified that if indeed they said this chimney was not built to code they are incorrect as wellThe chimney was built to accommodate one fireplace and one appliance (boiler). If this customer modified the fireplace to accommodate another appliance such as a pellet stove, wood stove, etc..then this chimney does require blocking all the way between the flues. But this situation would have nothing to do with the initial building of the chimney to code.KRL will not pay to have this chimney rebuilt nor will we reimburse the $charge for repairs already done.
