Went to dealership. Looked at car then asked if they had the title for it. *** on behalf of the owner/dealership proceeded to hand us(My mother and I) an expired title posing as a current, valid title. Signed paperwork without knowing the title was false and was given a Bill of Sale, a Title/Registration form and the expired title. The Bill of Sale and Title/Registration form was signed by another employee, not the actual owner. Owner wasn’t in person. Only contact with the actual owner was through one phone call at the dealership regarding a check engine light on the vehicle. Transaction was handled on 2/15/2020. Wasn’t aware of the title being false until we(Father and I) tried registering it on 2/21/2020.

Contacted *** about the false title on 2/21/2020. Wasn’t given any further information until 2/24/2020 in which I was informed to take this matter to a man named ***. Contacted ***, he stated that he will get his title clerk to send the information over and see what he can do. Contacted both *** and *** 2/27/2020 that I will be asking for a refund of $2400 if title can not be issued. Only response was from *** saying that she will “get back to you[me] as soon as I have the answers you are seeking for”. Contacted *** again on 2/28/2020, stated that they need a release from the lien holder to issue another title, not aware of another and current lien holder until 2/28/2020. Contacted *** on 3/1/2020 stating that I will be asking for a refund this week and she stated that the owner will not be in town until Friday, 3/6/2020. Asked if there was a way they could have the money sooner on 3/2/2020. No response. Sent another message an hour later stating that I will file complaints against them if I don’t get a refund. No response. Filing this complaint now because there was a failure to reassure me that I will get my money back.
