RE: Case #[redacted]: Mrs. [redacted]
Mr. [redacted],
In response to Mrs. [redacted]...

claims of being lied to and overcharged by my company on service which was rendered to her on April 2, 2014, all arguments presented by her are untrue as I hope to justify in this letter. [redacted] stated that the use of the dolly and its fee should have be made as part of the standard tow fee of $65.00. However, in accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 290-11, the use of a dolly is a separate charge of $10.00 added on to the tow fees. A dolly is needed to prevent damages to the vehicles transmission and to its steering. Storage fees are also a separate charge of $25.00 which falls under HRS Section 290-11 as well. [redacted] also states that she used Google Earth to determine the distance from the location of her tow, [redacted] Street and [redacted] Street, to [redacted] Street. The result of [redacted]'s query was 2.9-2.8 miles. Please bear in mind that Google Earth will not produce the accurate driving distance when traveling in a vehicle because it lacks the ability to determine the proper distance due to one way streets. Our driver traveled from the location of the tow to [redacted] Street then onto [redacted] Street and finally onto [redacted] Street, all of which are one way streets, which resulted to a total distance of 2.8 miles. [redacted] was charged for three miles and not four miles as she stated. Finally, [redacted] states that she was charged a total of $130 in tow fees, however the attached Invoice, #[redacted] shows a charge a total of $122.50, signed be [redacted] was not wronged in any way as she claimed she was, so therefore there is no reason for any type of justice to be served. Please find the attached three documents that supports the statements made in this letter regarding this matter.
Thank you,
[redacted]

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 12, 2014/05/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
For the record, the first complaint we wrote was before he tried to settle this issue: We agree with all charges except for mileage, however, we do not agree with the $30 mileage charge when he clearly stated that he took H1 from where the car was told, for H1 is literally at the end of our block. He has now lied by changing the story of the route he took. First the manager told us over the phone that there was a $30 dollar mileage fee, and when asked why, he said because its 7.50 a mile ($30 divided by 7.50 is 4 miles). We then asked what route did he take, he explained the computer generated route taken was H1.
We got off the phone and then called "the cab" and asked what would be the mileage if I were to take H1 from my home to Kuni's Automotive & Towing, they explained 2.4 miles (which is $18 not $30). We asked how did they come up with that, they explained through Google Earth. Actually, Google Earth is pretty accurate when it comes to measuring distances because they use satellite GPS positioning, and Google "ACTUALLY DO" direct whomever onto the proper street direction, not actually against one way streets as they are stating erroneously in their reply. Google maps also will show the best few routes to take and is very interactive by letting one drag and drop from start to finish, and does not populate routes moving in the wrong direction; and just so happen, H1 was the first one on the list of a distance of 2.4 mi, the shortest, fastest and most logical route. The second route was to ward, to King, then to Isenberg st which was 2.6 mi.
After We did the math, we called back and complained stating that it was impossible for anyone to drive 4 miles on H1 to his shop. He said he would look at the price again. It is true he lowered the price to compromise, but that was after we complained... he still over charged us, because he charged us $22.50 for the other route he has now clains and changed us for 2.9 miles which is $21.75. This guy is over charging people and making it up as he goes. H1 route is an $18 route not $30, but somehow they came up with $30 dollars for 4 miles and 4 miles is no where on the map. He told us he took H1, but now he changed his story, and if you didn't take H1, why you still tried to over charge an additional $7.50 over $22.50 if that's not what you traveled... See! He still owes us $4.50!
