Review: My fiance lost his mother 5/19. Her funeral done by James F Kutch. Viewing was Friday(5/22) & Funeral Saturday(5/23). The funeral was prepaid by his mother and executor of will was his ex-wife which we were aware of. My Fiance asked Mr. Kutch on Thursday that the only thing he requested is that the spray of yellow roses be placed above the casket. Mr Kutch at that time said he would be glad to do that. We had ordered our flowers on Tuesday the day [redacted] died-my fiance's mother. My fiance's ex-wife called him on Wednesday and left a message stating she was ordering the flowers for everyone-a very controlling person-our flowers were already ordered. On the day of viewing(5/22)Friday my fiance and I went down early before the viewing(2-4). As we walked in we saw the flowers were not above the casket but to the side and the card was removed. He has a brother and 2 sisters-these flowers were from us only. As we walked into the funeral home Mr. Kutch came out of his office and was screaming very loudly. He yelled at both of us like we were children and stated he didn't want any trouble from the two of us. That the flower arrangements would stay as the ex wife requested. He kept yelling and pointed to me and stated that if we caused any trouble he would throw us out and he wasn't putting up with us and any trouble we were going to cause. I was actually in fear of my life, my heart was pounding, that is how crazed he was-just kept yelling like we were criminals. We both left very shaken. When I called the florist, I just wanted to make sure the card was not forgotten or may have dropped from the arrangemnt. The florist sent another card over to be given to me. I was too afraid to place the card on the arrangement in fear that I was causing trouble and he would throw me out of the funeral home. I'm a professional nurse-we serve people in the community like funeral directors and we have to know how to communicate with people in stressful situations. His behavior was appalling.Desired Settlement: $300 for the flower arrangement that was to go over the casket of my fiance's mother. Mr Kutch removed the card that my fiance requested that the florist shop put on. I called the florist and it was on arrangement when the flowers left [redacted] the Florist.(Pinned securely on the ribbon-talked directly to the employee that did the arrangement). Also a written aplolgy. Also please take note his bathroom facility was not handicap accessible and there were two people that needed handicap access.

[redacted]Complaint ID#[redacted] To whom it may concern;I have been in the funeral business for over 45years and pride myself in customer service to all my clients. My first and foremost obligation is to honor the wishes of the deceased. To accomplish and fulfill this I must follow the directive of the party legally designated as power of attorney and executor. The deceased choose her ex-daughter-in-law [redacted] as her trusted representative to carry out her final wishes which included her pre-planned funeral. The son [redacted] and his girlfriend, who initiated this complaint, COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT ACCEPT THIS. I am honored that [redacted] pre-planned her funeral with me. It is my intention to provide dignity and respect to all my clients. I was forewarned that [redacted] and his girlfriend had to be removed from the nursing home where [redacted] spent her last days. [redacted] alone had the right to decide where flowers were placed and said she had told her ex-husband not to order flowers as that had been done. There is only room for one floral spray above the casket which was provided by [redacted]. The flowers from [redacted] and his girlfriend were prominently displayed beside the casket, so no refund is due. No card was removed by me or any member of my staff. Many family members and friends attended the visitation, I did not see anyone else remove a card but that is a possibility. Although the account of what happened in the complaint is very dramatic... .it is also false. I have enclosed two letters from other family member to substantiate my version of the funeral. My facility is handicap assessable that is verified in one of the enclosed letters from [redacted].Very Sincerely Yours,[redacted]Funeral Director
