This company hacked my computer and wanted $150 to fix the problem that they created.
My bank accounts were compromised. They said they were from Microsoft. And of course I paid it. And then texted a friend and found out she'd had the same thing happen to her but her kids told her it was a scam and told them no.
The guys name is [redacted].
He even called me back and said he was in the middle of the clean-up. Very persistent. He is from India and manages to change his voice a bit so sounds like a different person.
Here is the number that came on the screen: [redacted] And no one said Microsoft support center. Other #: [redacted]
BEWARE! People claiming to work for Kwickheal are using it as a front for a scam operation (unfortunately unknown if sanctioned by Kwickheal or not) wherein you are charged an exorbitant fee for some individual to install via remote access a handful of free trial versions of legitimate downloadable antivirus software (the ones I have seen are Malwarebytes and CCleaner, but they may use others) in conjunction with their in-house software. The in-house software may contain a trojan virus built to not appear within the trial antivirus databases, which along with basic spyware, bloatware, and malware, may run the risk of containing skimming programs for accessing passwords and other personal information that can be used by scammers for fraud and identity theft. Please avoid at all costs!
