On 2/21, they brought their vehicle back with 74,miles (already out of the mile warranty, which only covers all internally lubricated engine and transmission parts), with a Check Engine Light.Our team completed a full diagnosis, which is belowCUSTOMER STATES THAT CEL IS ON. PERFORMED DIAG AND FOUND CODE 4BD4 INJECTOR CYL 5 ACTIVATION ON THESE SPECIFIC DIESEL ENGINE, ITS VERY COMMON FOR THIS INJECTOR CODES TO COME ON. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE THE INJECTOR WOULD PULL AIR OUT OF THE CHA MBER CAN CAUSING AN AIR BUBBLE IN FUEL SYSTEM C CAUSING THIS FAULT CODE TO COME ON. WHEN VEHICLE W AS PULLED NI FOR DIAG THE CEL WAS NOT ON THERE FOR DOES NOT NEED REPAIR AT THE MOMENT. POSSIBLE FIX WOULD BE TO REPLACE ALL INJECTORS WHEN FAULT CODE COMES BACK ON. DO KEEP IN MIND THAT THE FOLLOWING FAULT CODE IS BMW SPECIFIC AND WE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO CODE DESCRIPTION ANYWHERE ONLINE AND ALLDATA. - The Check Engine Light was reset after the repair and we did not charge them for anything on this visit On 3/19, they brought their car in again, this time with 75,miles for a Check Engine Light This time, it was on for a completely different issue Again, here is the tech’s diagnosis: CUSTOMER STATES THAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. PERFORMED DIAG AND FOUND FAULT 4371 NOX SENSOR AFTER SCR CATALYTIC CONVERTER PLAUSIBLE. WILL NEED TO REPLACE NOX SENSORS AND THEN PROGRAMMED(CANNED DO IN HOUSE). DO KEEP IN MIND THAT IF SCR SYSTEM FAULTS CONTINUE THE SC R CATS AND MODULE IF APPLICABLE WILL NED REPLACED TO REPAIR. -1.0 REPLACED BEFORE AND AFTER SCR NOX SENSORS -2.0 TOTAL HRS - The repair was originally just under $1688. The customer approved the work and we completed it on 3/On 3/22, the customer called back in upset about the price and spoke to our Service ManagerBased on this conversation we provided the customer 15% off the repairWe called *** the morning of 3/23. The only options we were given to make this transaction right for him, was to buy back his vehicle for exactly what he paid for it or to comp his entire repair. We agreed to pay for half and he still did not feel that was enough. So after all was said and done, he only had to pay for half of his repair, we ate the other half and he came and picked up the car
