VIP membership (72 months of unlimited selecting) with unlimited freezes (time that she can put her membership on hold and lose no membership time while doing so (see enclosed membership agreement). [redacted] purchased the VIP membership for $[redacted].00. She signed a credit card voucher in the amount of $[redacted].00 (see enclosed and endorsed credit card receipt). [redacted] wrote a check for the remaining balance of $[redacted].00 (see deposit slip dated 4/29/10 with acct ending 1108 and enclosed transaction record). [redacted] states that she thinks we should refund $[redacted].00. This is not a correct amount. That is $[redacted].00 more then she/[redacted] paid.
[redacted] was given a list of suggestions of men for her to review for possible selection, by her member representative [redacted] acknowledged that she had chosen many of those suggestions. As well, our Member Services Manager ([redacted]) sent [redacted] suggestions of men for [redacted] to review on the following dates: 1/13/12, 3/19/13 and 2/14/15. [redacted] was offered a free photo reshoot on 12/22/12. [redacted] did take advantage of the free photo reshoot (see enclosed photos).
[redacted] states that she is unhappy as she states "over the years not much happened". [redacted] has chosen 36 members (men in which she would like to meet), and was chosen by 76 members (men who wish to meet [redacted]). Of these selections she/[redacted] has 21 mutual consents (where both parties agree to meet - See enclosed selection update sheets).
We are confused to why [redacted] states in her desired resolution "they keep extending me thinking it will help." [redacted] has a 72 month membership and her expiration date for her membership is 4/28/16. Again, [redacted] joined on 4/28/10 and expires on 4/28/16. She has been using the service, making selections and getting selected by our members for 5 years.
There will be no refund granted to [redacted], and as our agreement clearly states "It is understood and agreed that GE does not grant and you shall not request, refunds, cancellations, or rescission of any kind, except as otherwise required by law".
We welcome [redacted] to please call our member services staff for a personal consultation to further assist and guide [redacted] with the remainder of her VIP membership.

Ms. [redacted] has selected/chosen 10 men (men which Ms. [redacted] wants to meet) and has been chosen by 2 men (men which want to meet Ms. [redacted]). (See enclosed member activity/selection sheet).
Ms. [redacted] states in her complaint that many of the members live in other states (yes, some do and members may select other members from other states if they choose to use our "National Access," as did Ms. [redacted]. [redacted] - [redacted] chose gentlemen from San Diego, Las Vegas, Bonita Springs and Boston. As well, she chose 6 men from our Minneapolis metro area. Ms. [redacted] has 1 mutual consent (where both parties agree to meet). (Please see member activity/selection sheet). Members can go "inactive" (put their membership on hold) at their discretion, when they are dating someone, traveling or for any reason they chose,
We, Minneapolis Singles, are here to help, guide and assist [redacted] in this personal journey, We encourage Ms. [redacted] to contact our Member Services department to set up a personal consultation with one of our Member Services staff members. We will offer advice and help in Ms. [redacted]'s selection. of members and further assist her with her membership.

Unfortunately, I am fully aware that I am not going to receive a refund from the dating service GE, or "Minneapolis singles". If I had thoroughly read the paperwork before signing, I would not have joined a second time. The first experience with GE was so horrific, I vowed never to do it again. But dating is such an emotional and frustrating experience for me, I was easily led by the rep into thinking things would change when I signed on for a membership. I feel as if I am a victim, not a customer who is guaranteed satisfaction. Every time I visit the web GE/MPLS Singles site, it's exercise in disappointment and frustration... and I paid a premium price for this. I have done eHarmony and Match, but at least I did not pay [redacted]! Had I followed my instincts, I would not have signed on again. I found out that I am not going to receive a refund when I finally read the paperwork thoroughly and feel as if I will get nothing for my money. With cheaper web sites, I get tons of inquiries,. Maybe the men are not "quality men", like the GE/MPLS Singles claims to have, but they write you, at least! Yes, I did choose men from other states. THAT IS BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING IN MINNEAPOLIS TO CHOOSE FROM in their site!98% of the men in their membership have little or nothing in common with me, and most that do are INACTIVE or unavailable. I am a NEVER MARRIED well educated 55year old woman with no children, and don't want any. Almost All of the men my age in their membership have children, divorced, and only a few unmarried.. My first intention is to find a date first, but I can't even find that, much less, marriage! Another thing is, I am African American, and honestly feel these men are not choosing me based on my race. 99% of the men in this service are White, and the handful of men who are not, are not my type, and want children. I am NOT open to raising kids at my age as stated to the rep when I joined.I did a test of sorts, choosing men outside the state to see of any of them would respond- NONE of them responded, and the MN men said 'no". What is worse, after being a member for two months, only two men selected me. I responded quickly, not keeping them waiting.. Only one other MN guy said "yes" and he was pretty slow to respond. When the staff from MPLS Singles send me suggestions for dates, they feel as if they are helping, but they are not. What they don't seem to realize is that THEY selected. These men DID NOT CHOOSE ME. Therefore, when I go select them, they are most likely going to say NO, and I face more frustration. I am angry, depressed and frustrated with my experience so far with Minneapolis Singles/GE. I strongly feel they DO NOT LISTEN TO ME, and have no regard for the fact that the ratio of men that fit my profile seems to be very LOW among their members. My feeling is that they want me to go through my membership, get my money, and could care less if I find anyone. Meanwhile, I am out of lot of money, and still dateless. I could call them, but I get the same results.. NOTHING! When a customer is very ANGRY, and very unsatisfied as I am, there should be some restitution. And I am VERY ANGRY.

This is in response to Ms. [redacted]'s complaint we received. Ms. [redacted] came into our office for her...

initial appointment on July 19, 2014 and we had a very pleasant interview with her. She was very excited about our program, made the decision to join and buy a membership and signed a legal binding contract.
All of the claims Ms. [redacted] made in this complaint are absolutely false. In no way was Ms. [redacted] mislead about any facts or statistics regarding her membership or the database of gentlemen in our program. If asked during the consultation, we will pull a report and give them the exact statistics of our database as of that day. Ms. [redacted]'s complaint states that she was shocked by the lack of diversity amongst the male member population. The paperwork that Ms. [redacted] filled out, which I can provide for you if you would like, shows that she is open to date Caucasian, African American, and Latin American which would add up to be 99% of our database, so we are unsure what complaint she could possibly have regarding this.
Ms. [redacted] also mentioned that she contacted her credit card company and got no resolution. This is because the credit card company agrees that Ms. [redacted] is not entitled to any type of refund, as our company has not done anything wrong and has provided the services in which she purchased.
Members choose to join and sign a contract on their own free will. It was explained to Ms. [redacted] that she would not have access to our database until she completed her New Member Orientation, which she scheduled and came in for at a later date. At this time, Ms. [redacted] completed her Professional Photography Session and New Member Orientation. She was very excited and was happy with the photos that she took. She turned in her Member Profile that she wrote as well. It was clearly explained to Ms [redacted] that she would not have access to our private, exclusive membership base until she came in to do her photo and video session.
Ms. [redacted] does not have the right to cancel this contract, according the Minnesota State Law and the contract that she signed. Our contracts and cancellation policy are very clear and Ms. [redacted] made the decision on her own accord to become a member with Minneapolis Singles. She has used her membership, completed her Professional Photo Session and Orientation, she even has activity on her account. In fact, within a couple weeks of when she joined, she had already selected 5 gentlemen that she wanted to meet! Since she joined, she has also been selected by 11 gentlemen and she has said yes to several of them. For all we know, she could currently be dating one of the many men she has met through our service. We have completed her background check and tried to work with Ms. [redacted] on many occasions. We have sent her many referrals, called her about the men who have selected her and would like to meet her, etc. In fact, it appears that our staff reaching out to her to respond to a member that recently chose her is what prompted her to write this complaint.
