Summit Roofing did install a new roof for Dave [redacted], and, following the installation, we returned several times to address his concerns.  It would be impossible to delineate the full scope of our conversations and attempts to reach an agreement with Mr. [redacted], since our Revdex.com response...

window is time-limited.  (Our company has 30 minutes to respond on the Revdex.com website once we open the complaint window.)  However, a brief overview of the facts is as follows:  1.  Yes, mistakes were made in the installation process.  We have acknowledged them, apologized for them, and attempted to resolve them.  2.  We have attempted to resolve these problems to Mr. [redacted]'s satisfaction, but also within reason.  As one point, we offered Mr. [redacted] DOUBLE the repair cost of a small section of aluminum siding that was damaged.  He refused.  3.  We have offered a variety of repair options to the aluminum siding.  First, we offered to replace the siding, painting it to match the existing color.  Mr. [redacted] refused, saying it would not match.  Second, we offered to replace the siding, but instead of using touchup paint, match the siding color and have a professional painter do a custom paint job.  This also was refused.  Third, Mr. [redacted], mentioned that another company had given him a repair estimate in the $500 price range.  We agreed to pay that amount.  Finally, Mr. [redacted] suggested a repair that would involve redesigning the bottom of the chimney flashing altogether, which we agreed to do, but when we returned with a contractor who had agreed to do the work, Mr. [redacted] then informed us that he had changed his mind about this repair.  At present, we are at an impasse with Mr. [redacted].  A reasonable repair estimate for the small section of siding in question is $350 to $500.  We have offered this and more.  Currently, Mr. [redacted] is demanding over $2500 to replace the siding completely.  This is, in our opinion, an unreasonable demand.  Our company has serviced the greater Cincinnati area for years, and we strive to ensure that homeowners are fully satisfied with our service.  We regret that in this case, we were unable to meet his expectations.

Regards,
[redacted]We were very disappointed with the work done by Summit Roofing. Not only did they damage the aluminum siding around our chimney, they did an extremely sloppy job installing the drip edge, and installed a "weave" in a valley that was expressly written in the contract that we were to get metal valleys. He made a failed attempt to fix the drip edge, and I was willing to accept the weave in the valley if he would just fix the siding damaged by his crew. We were very upfront and definite that we would not accept painted aluminum siding as a fix. He also said if he painted it, he would not stand behind the pain job. We spent many hours of our time and considered several ways to make the repair. On October 25th, Lonnie brought someone from [redacted] Roofing to offer an opinion on how to repair the damaged siding. I listened while Lonnie tried to explain why his crew had to cut and bend the siding, J-channel and corner bead to install the flashing. I also listened while the man from [redacted] said that the crew did not have to cut and ruin the siding. The flashing could have been soldered. (which was also the opinion of a home inspector that I consulted). When Lonnie left our home on October 25th, I asked him if he would show drawings of what [redacted] proposed to fix it. He said yes he would and he left. We have not heard from Lonnie V[redacted] / Summit Roofing since October 25th, even after sending several emails asking for some kind of resolution. We got an estimate of $2276.00 to re-side just the chimney. Our siding is not available and cannot be matched, but we are willing to accept just re-siding the chimney even though it will not match the rest of the house. We did not ruin our siding, Summit Roofing did. We feel they should stand behind the terrible work done by their crew and fix their mistakes. He is withholding the warranty and will not sign the final papers from the insurance company so we continue to have an open claim with our insurance company. We would be happy to provide photos of the work done if needed.

Regards,
[redacted]We thank Mr. V[redacted] for his response to our complaint, but there is still no action. We would like to make one thing very clear. We are absolutely not seeking any concessions from Summit Roofing, monetarily or otherwise. We want our house fixed. We are the ones being forced to make concessions. We have conceded to the fact that no matter how this issue is resolved, the appearance of our house is forever changed. We now have mismatched valleys, drip edges that are poorly installed and a chimney that has been cut up and mangled. Our goal at this point is to have our chimney restored to a functionally comparable condition prior to the damage done by Mr. V[redacted] and his crew. That condition is maintenance free aluminum exterior of uniform materials, color and color fastness. As we stated there is an open insurance claim. Money is held back by the insurance company until a satisfactory completion of the job. A balance owed can not be released until the damage is fixed. We are stuck. All we have gotten is an apology from Mr. V[redacted]. He has offered us money, but not enough to fix the damage. WE WANT OUR HOUSE FIXED.
