Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2015/06/12) */
This customer did not have two bags of mortar and I went out of my pocket and bought it. She called us up on a Wednesday and said she needed this done the next day. She bought a ten bag pound of grout which was not enough. I went out and...

bought more and left it with her. I drove back to [redacted]'s two times to pick up extra materials for her.
When I got to the home there was laminate flooring and ceramic tile cannot be installed over it. The price increased due to the extra labor and a backer board needed to be installed. I told her this information before I even started any work. I did not miss cut the base board. I even waived half the price I usually charged to remove laminate and install concrete backer board. We never looked at this job prior, she needed the job done right away.
I also informed her that I coach at the high school and it was our senior night that night. She did not have enough base board. She had 22 feet of linear wall and what she bought was not enough. I explained to the woman that was there that if I installed the base board she would not have enough. She also accused me of breaking her back door which I did not. There is old liquid nail where someone had already tried to piece it together. She told me I got the mortar in the yard and I explained that I do not mix mortar over concrete because I did not want to get it on concrete. I went back and shop vacuumed the mortar mix that was in the yard.
I may have gotten a little grout in the vent however it dries quickly and can easily be removed. The door going into the main house were loose hinges and I tried to repair it for her to be nice. How is it poor workmanship? She has never talked about the installation of the ceramic tile. The baseboards are only thing not finished because she did not have enough material. This was only about a $350.00 job and I spent two days doing the work and took a second guy on Friday to get it done quicker.
I did a fair and good job and went out of my way. The sample wood I took belongs to me that she got three years ago when we gave her a bid. The only thing left to do is 2.5 ft of baseboard. I would like the consumer to pay the bill as the work was completed.
