Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2015/09/21) */

[redacted] acknowledged receiving a copy of the rules and breaking the rules regarding her dogs. The summarized rules may be...

found online at http://www.gordonscamping.com/content/campground-rules and specifically state, "PETS: ALL PETS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEASH AND CLEANED UP AFTER. NO LOUD OR EXCESSIVE BARKING WILL BE TOLERATED AND PETS SHOULD NOT BE LEFT UNATTENDED." Her statement in her Revdex.com complaint quoting the owner is not correct nor an accurate description of the situation.
The owner actually went to their site due to the excessive barking he heard when speaking with some campers at a neighboring campsite and they informed him that the dogs had been barking off and on all weekend and had been continually left unattended. When the owner went to their site, neither Jenni, her husband, nor anyone else was at the site with the dogs. They had three dogs tied outside their camper and left unattended. The owner did not make up anything, he heard the excessive barking himself and witnessed the situation and spoke with three of the neighboring campers. Upon looking for their camping registration on the popup camper to determine who the dogs belonged to, which they did not display as they should have, a neighboring camper across from their site came out. He said that they were playing bingo and that he was her father. He was neither at their site nor keeping the dogs under control. The owner then went to the bingo pavilion and announced for the owners of the dogs to step out to speak with him. At this point Jenni and her husband acknowledged leaving the dogs out but the father was "watching" them. The owner did not find that acceptable and offered her husband a ride on the golf cart back to his site to take care of the dogs. When back at the site, it was apparent that he was unable to control the dogs and the barking was going to continue and at that point the owner asked him to take the homes. The camp store had received at least two calls regarding the excessive barking the day prior. Upon driving by approximately 15 minutes later, Jenni was back at the site, it didn't appear that they were making any attempt to load up the dogs, she shouts the smart comment about the barking as the owner drove by. He turned around and went back and asked her what she said, she stated, well they didn't bark that time did they? At this point it was apparent that she had no regard for her neighbors nor did she understand the situation, as she continued to argue about the issue and not understand the seriousness of the problem, she was then told that she needed to leave as well. She started throwing things on her site and slamming doors, the owner drove off. That is when she went up to the store and was very snappy with the clerk demanding to speak to the owner, her recollection of it is much different that it appears in the store video. She had already been asked to leave due to her lack of consideration and rudeness to the owner, he wasn't going to listen to any more of it as she wanted to argue over the fact that it was stated that the dog was barking at 1am. She was hung up on that fact and wanted to keep disputing it, when really it doesn't matter what time it was, there had been multiple complaints from the day prior and the current day about the excessive barking from the dogs and that they were tied up and left unattended. Neither Gordons Campground nor the owner makes any apologies for the manner in which the situation was handled. She became loud and irrational and would not take any ownership of the issue nor apologize for her wrong-doing. The owner made it clear that he wasn't interested in any excuses for the dogs or her own bad behavior. It is not bad business to remove the problem to keep the peace for the rest of the campers. Her comment on facebook stating, "Dogs Bark people" is correct, but if your dog is a disturbance to others, leave it at home. Neither a refund nor an apology will be given.
OFFER:
No offer will be made. The rules also state that there are no refunds, "REFUNDS: NO REFUNDS OR RAINCHECKS ARE GIVEN IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER, PERSONAL ISSUES OR OTHER UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES."
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 9, 2015/09/28) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I am not sure why the owner himself refuses to reply to the complaint, when the problem was with him, but I am guessing the person that replied was not someone that was present during the situation. I have no problem remembering everything that happened and everything he said to me and I have no problem understanding it either. Let me clear this up a little bit, because the reply from the campground has hardly any truth to it. First the owner spoke to us at the bingo hall, we told him my dad was at the site, he didn't agree with that so my husband said he would go back to the site, he dropped my husband off at the campsite, proceeded to tell him to take the dogs home, my husband then called me. I went up to the camp store, asked to speak to the owner to find out why, when he got to the store I was standing outside, that is when he started yelling at me when I tried to ask a question or even speak, I was in the store for less than a minute. This is where he told me that he can speak to me however he wants because it's his campground and he's the owner. This video that you speak of would surely show that I walked in asked the clerk to speak to the owner and she asked who I was and I said, "The lady with the three dogs," and then I walked out and waited outside for him. I did not raise my voice or get loud with him, because I was unable to speak at all. I then went back to my campsite after he yelled at me at the store and within 15 minutes he drove by and that's when I made a "smart" (their words) comment, he then proceeded to yell some more and then kick us out at that point. The "smart" comment was in reference to him saying he drove by at least 15 times and the dogs were barking every time and unattended. I did not go up to the store after I was kicked out, we packed our camper up and we left, we did not see or speak to the owner after he kicked us out at our site, at that point I had nothing else to say to him. I did not and would not have thrown my own belongings or slam doors at my campsite, why would I ruin my own things?? I did not acknowledge I broke any rules because I complied with all of the rules regarding pets; my dogs were leashed and attended to the entire weekend by an adult and not "excessively" barking, including after hours. The campground responder even said in her post that my dogs were tied up and my dad was sitting there, so they proved themselves wrong on my breaking the rules. Also, when the responder mentioned the camper (my dad) across the street was not attending to the dogs at our actual site she didn't mention that the campsites were within 2 foot of each other. It's also precarious to me that they spoke to three "neighboring" campers because there were 2 unrelated "neighboring" campers that came over to check on us because they heard him yelling at me. One of them told us she checked into purchasing a seasonal lot and she would no longer be doing that after this situation. With that being said, this has nothing to do with anyone else, leave my dad and family out of it. My husband also explained the issue with the tag, it had poured down rain the day before and the tag was soaked to shreds in our pop up window so we had to remove it to dry, he did produce the pieces of the registration for them when asked.
I will not satisfy you with arguing back and forth and you will not attack me or my family personally, this just furthers my report of unprofessionalism shown by the owner and the replier from Gordons. Like I said before, I had no problem taking my dogs home had they been the real issue, but I was never given a chance to even defend them because of the way he was screaming at me. The way the owner spoke to me was unacceptable; no one should speak to another human being the way he spoke to me, let alone a paying customer. The only thing the owner made clear was that he had no respect for me or anyone else camping at "his" campground, the situation was not handled in a proper manner. The owner of a business should never be seen screaming at a customer no matter the circumstances. I would never have spoken to him in the manner he spoke to me. I don't need an apology from the campground or the owner to make myself feel better, I have told enough people that they will lose business and that's all that I was hoping for, and that way he can't treat any of my friends or family that way.
Also, the responder [redacted] from the campground forgot to mention that she is the owner's girlfriend/wife so I doubt her "manager" credibility anyway.
Final Business Response /* (4030, 13, 2015/10/14) */
As a final response to this issue as we do not wish to argue about the facts any further either: Ms. [redacted] broke the rules, they were asked to take the dogs home as they could not be quieted simply. Then due to her own bad behavior, they were then asked to leave. They were in clear violation of the rules and the situation does not need to be rehashed. Our policy clearly states no refunds as well especially due to the fact that they broke the rules and their dogs were causing a disturbance to the neighboring campers. Neither Ms. [redacted] nor her family were attacked personally. She continues to not accept any responsibility for her or her dogs actions. There will not be a refund given.
