[redacted] purchased a puppy in July on a contract with a written health guarantee and a current veterinarian exam showing no signs of hip dysplasiaThe health guarantee was only valid for six months after the puppy’s birth date and there were requirements for the health guarantee to be valid [redacted] did not met any of the requirements per contractShe failed to send me proof of the puppy being seen by a licensed veterinarian within three days of ownership and proof of this puppy's health condition in the time stated in contract When she signed the purchasing contract she knew that I do not cover hip dysplasia in the health guarantee as it can be caused or influenced by overfeeding, improper diet, failure to maintain proper weight, failure to provide sufficient exercise, over-exercising or improper exercising which would be out of my controlShe also knew that I don't refund any money and I'm not responsible for any veterinarian billsIt should be noted in comparison to other puppies from this litter, ***'s vet record shows her puppy is extremely overweight and, in my opinion, it could have been the cause of this condition I have tried in multiple attempts to help [redacted] with this matterI have offered a replacement puppy even though the health guarantee is not valid anymore and per contract I’m not obligated to refund or replace her puppy [redacted] has said she does not want to return her puppy for a replacement puppyI take this matter very seriously and I do stand behind the health of my dogsThey are from generations of quality healthy bloodlinesThis puppy was fully health checked, received age appropriate vaccinations, flea med, worming and was extremely healthy before leaving my care with no symptoms of any hip dysplasiaI cannot per contract refund any portion of the purchase price to [redacted] as it would be considered a breach of our contractI feel I have done everything in my power to resolve this problem

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:L & O Saints’ response to my Revdex.com complaint has been completely unprofessional and untruthful. Our puppy has been under the care of a licensed veterinarian since the first hours after his purchaseOur veterinarian was aware of his litter size and has extensive knowledge of large breed caninesOur puppy’s weight, growth patterns, activity and care have all been monitored and directed by this professional, along with the guidelines set forth by the Saint Bernard Club of America After his hip dysplasia diagnosis, our puppy has also been under the care of a certified canine rehabilitation therapist and one of the top veterinary surgeons in Washington StateI have presented truthful facts in my complaint with veterinary documentation to corroborate; L & O Saints have notThe one page of veterinary records the breeder attached contains a puppy identification number that does not match the one assigned to our puppy in the contractI hope other consumers will avoid the heartbreaking and financially straining situation we are facing, in order to provide our puppy with the best quality of lifeNo resolution can be reached with a company that continues to be dishonestI would like to request this complaint be closed as unresolved. After the complaint was filed this business has changed its website from lanosaints.weebly.com to lanosaintbernards.weebly.com.
Sincerely,
*** ***

In response to *** ***'s (***) letter with the Revdex.com regarding purchased puppy: I have tried in multiple attempts and have went out of my way to help *** with this matterThe puppy was seen by a licensed, reputable veterinarian days before *** took possession of this puppyDuring this health exam the puppy was given it's first shots and his 4th set of worming.(vet record included with this letter)The puppy checked out very healthy with our veterinarianIt was found to be of weight for his structure, age and for him being from a very large litter. Please take note, *** was told before purchasing this particular puppy that he was on the smaller side due to being from the very large litter and he would go through fast growing spurtsShe would need to monitor her puppy's eating habits and control his activity just like any giant breed puppyThere was written care and precautions included in the folder*** was also told she could call me anytime for guidance or recommendations on the puppy and that she could call my veterinarian to access this puppy’s health record*** did not stay in contact with me or send me any updates of this puppy as promised until it was months old and had been diagnosed with dysplasiaRegarding the underweight note from her vet, though *** knew this puppy was on the small side I doubt ***'s veterinarian knew this puppy was from very large litter which would explain the lower weight at time of purchase. *** was given a complete folder containing this puppy’s health record that was filled out by my veterinarian and myself, vaccination & worming schedule with intestinal worm symptoms, feeding recommendations, bloat preventions, breed information and care, and prevention for joint issues/ dysplasia. As the contract states *** was to take this puppy to a licensed veterinarian within hours after purchase for the health guarantee to be valid and if the puppy was found ill she was to contact me immediately and provide written proof from her licensed veterinarianEven though I now know she did this, I received no proof of ***'s puppy having coccidiosis or being underweight. The parasite, coccidiosis, is a very common parasite in puppies and under conditions is not considered life threadingAs you can see in ***'s puppy record's he only had a small amount of coccidiosis and he could have acquired this immediately after leaving my premisesThis puppy was also wormed at my vet's clinic days prior to purchaseThe puppy was also wormed at 2,4,week of age and he came with a worming record that showed all the dates he was wormed and when he would be due again. *** was told when purchasing the puppy that he could easily get worms from his body being under stress from leaving his Dam and littermates and moving to a new environment. Puppies do not have immunity to cocci until about months old and *** was told she would need to monitor the puppy for signs of diarrhea and would need to be kept on a worming scheduleTherefore the slight presence of worms should not be a issue. If you look at his weight chart between the days 8-3-to 8-24-the puppy gained pounds in daysFrom 8-24-to 9-14-the puppy gained pounds in daysThis was way to much weight for any giant breed puppy to gain that quickly and should have only gained 2-3 pounds a week for safety of his hips and joints especially given his smaller frame. REFERENCE: "Never allow your puppy to become overweightThe majority of growth problems (Panosteitits, OCD, HOD, Dysplasia) can be eliminated or greatly reduced by following a proper feeding and exercise program and by not allowing your dog to become fat." (http://saintbernardclub.org/) ;; REFERENCE- "Environmental factors can also cause hip dysplasiaThese can include: rapid weight gain and obesity, nutritional factors, poor hind limb muscle development, pelvic injuries, or repetitive strain injuries." (http://www.dogheirs.com/dogheirs/posts/2162-canine-hip-dysplasia-symptoms-diagn... After contacting other owners of puppies from this large litter two things should be noted: #1; no other puppy has any evidence of hip dysplasia#2; Even though this puppy doesn't appear overweight in the December photo I received, all of this puppy's litter mates weigh considerably less- many pounds less. *** stated in a previous e-mail to me, "I do not let him jump off any surface" yet in my home she allowed this puppy to jump from her lap and arms to the hardwood floor--- twice, even though she had been warned against the dangers of stairs and jumping prior to handling puppiesAlso she did not reprimand her child for the same type action so its hard to believe the puppy had proper care at her home. I firmly believe weight issues and proper care of this puppy is the cause of the dysplasia and that it's not a congenital or hereditary defectNo other puppy from this litter developed dysplasia and there are no known problems with the parenting dogs or the bloodline. As stated in my previous letter, my contract with *** stipulates no health guarantee against dysplasia for many reasonsBut, in good faith, I offered to take the puppy back and replace itShe declinedIt would have been in the puppy's best interest and mine as I am greatly concerned about this puppy's health since leaving my careI am not obligated to refund the purchase price in anyway and feel, with ***'s attitude toward the quality of my Saint's and her disregard of health, weight and activity warnings that a replacement puppy would not be in the best interested of said puppyI take great pride in the quality and care and am saddened by this outcomeI have made a generous offer to *** that she has refusedMy concern lies with the future of her puppyI highly suggest *** read up on care of giant breed dogs with this ailment and also hope she is taking the puppy to a veterinarian that is specialized or is very educated on giant breeds.I have done all I can. I have talked to many Saint Bernard advisers and they recommend giving Winston's Joint System to a Saint Bernard with hip dysplasia and arthritis and has a very high rating of successful treatment of Saint Bernard's with dysplasiaIt's a natural whole food supplements with no drugs and no side-effects and is recommended by veterinarian specialists. [redacted] purchased a puppy in July 2016 on a contract with a written health guarantee and a current veterinarian exam showing no signs of  hip dysplasia. The health guarantee was only valid for six months after the puppy’s birth date and there were requirements for...

the health guarantee to be valid. [redacted] did not met any of the requirements per contract. She failed to send me proof of the puppy being seen by a licensed veterinarian within three days of ownership and proof of this puppy's health condition in the time stated in contract.  When she signed the purchasing contract she knew that I do not cover hip dysplasia in the health guarantee as it can be caused or influenced by overfeeding, improper diet, failure to maintain proper weight, failure to provide sufficient exercise, over-exercising or improper exercising which would be out of my control. She also knew that I don't refund any money and I'm not responsible for any veterinarian bills. It should be noted in comparison to other puppies from this litter, [redacted]'s vet record shows her puppy is extremely overweight and, in my opinion, it could have been the cause of this condition.        I have tried in multiple attempts to help [redacted] with this matter. I have offered a replacement puppy even though the health guarantee is not valid anymore and per contract I’m not obligated to refund or replace her puppy. [redacted] has said she does not want to return her puppy for a replacement puppy. I take this matter very seriously and I do stand behind the health of my dogs. They are from generations of quality healthy bloodlines. This puppy was fully health checked, received age appropriate vaccinations, flea med, worming and was extremely healthy before leaving my care with no symptoms  of any hip dysplasia. I cannot per contract refund any portion of the purchase price to [redacted] as it would be considered a breach of our contract. I feel I have done everything in my power to resolve this problem.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:L & O Saints’ first response to my Revdex.com complaint was to call me, confirm they had received the complaint, then threaten to file and press charges against me. I hung up and promptly notified the Revdex.com. If this wasn’t unprofessional enough, their written response contains blatant falsehoods. I have forwarded veterinary and other documentation to the Revdex.com refuting these fabrications. To address a few of them; the breeder claims our puppy was extremely healthy, this is false.  Our puppy was seen by a licensed veterinarian within the first 72 hour time period after he was purchased, as requested by the breeder. At this appointment he tested positive for the parasite coccidia and was diagnosed as underweight.  (The breeder was notified of the veterinarian’s findings) Our puppy has been under a veterinary care plan ever since.  When we purchased our puppy, we never received any veterinary documentation from the breeder. We did get a generic form, filled out by hand, showing the shots and worming medicine he was given. (This had no veterinary information on it whatsoever, just the dates and vaccines given.)Our puppy has never been overweight at any point. We have been very cognizant of our puppy’s weight to provide him the most optimal life. After he was diagnosed at 5 months old with hip dysplasia, we have taken extra precautions under veterinary supervision to keep him lean, as to not exacerbate his condition. I have also forwarded all his weight records to the Revdex.com. After our puppy’s hip dysplasia diagnosis, the breeder did offer for us to return him for a replacement. This option was not in the best interest of our puppy, I don’t believe if returned he would have received the medical care we are providing him.If this breeder doesn’t refund our money, it will not change the fact that our puppy has hip dysplasia and will continue to have costly medical bills. I hope other consumers will be able to make a more informed decision before purchasing a puppy from this dishonest breeder.
Sincerely,
[redacted]
