This hotel and it's staff need workVacation was ruinedWe were called at noon and told we needed to pay before 1pm or they would cancel our reservationSo we did thatWhen we got to the hotel to check in we were told military ID was not a proper form of identificationSo we used an drivers licenseWe paid for both rooms on my card and then when we asked to split it between us and our fellow travels we were told she could not do thatThen when we asked for someone else, she said: I can just cancel your reservation and you can go somewhere elseSo we just paidOur overall experience was awfulStaff was very rude
It was my first vacation in almost 2 yrs. La Copa Inn in South Padre Island was recommended to us. When we arrived we checked into our room with no problem. We slept in our room overnight and the next morning the toilet started to back up. We immediately called the front desk they assured us maintenance was on their way, after nearly 30 min they showed up after multiple phone calls and going down to the front desk to ask them why no one has come. It was kind of a dire emergency. After nearly an hour the toilet was still inoperable. We were then told we can put you in another room but it will not have all the amenities as the first....& we would have to move all of our things ourselves. Wow is all I thought. Feeling very aggrivated now after almost 2 hrs our plans were completely ruined for that morning due to plumbing issues on the hotels part. We were put in a less expensive room and after taking an hour to move all of our stuff to the second room we discovered the new rooms balconie door had no weather stripping and didn't close properly and we could hear everything happening at the pool below. We again called maintenance for the second room and they came up and put weather stripping on the door. Believe it or not the toilet wasn't working well in this room either. It took almost 3 flushes to get even a square of toilet paper down. Needless to say we were just livid at this point. I came to relax and enjoy myself and instead I'm dealing with a hotel who doesn't do regular maintenance on their rooms and plumbing. At checkout the following morning we noticed that not one thing had been changed on our bill after we had to move to a less expensive room with less amenities. When I asked for a manager they said which one, I said "you don't know who your general manager is?" She said no we have so many. Then another man standing next to her my boyfriend said "that's the guy I talked to about the room rate" and he acted like he knew nothing. Once we jogged his memory he decided to remember. And credited our bill $30 dollars. They gave us a $30 voucher to the bar and grill and a free breakfast for $7.50. That was it. And the guy at the bar said he'd never seen a voucher like this no one has trained him how to accept these. On top of that the 7.50 breakfast was eggs, refried beans and flour tortillas, if you wanted egg, bacon or omelette you had to wait in a long line where they only had 1 woman cooking for 50 or so guests. Overall our experience was very poor and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
