La Morenita Restaurant in Turlock, Ca.

The server was not attendant to our table, my wife's fajitas were cold before her tortillas were served, our drinks were not re-filled and the service was just terrible. The beef tacos were not shredded beef, they were some cut up carne asada or something, I can get that at any lousy taco truck! Even good taco trucks will shred the beef! These were lousy beef tacos and there was so little meat maybe 14% the rest was lettuce approx. 85% and 1% cheese. This tells me the cooks do not want to take the time to make good food (they don't take the time to shred the beef) and the restaurant sacrifices quality and quantity at the customers expense (low meat to vegetable ratio). The food served also was missing items on the plate (they will short you on items that are supposed to be served with your meal) such as sour cream, guacamole and rice. Also be careful, they claim to be a family run restaurant, with several locations including Turlock, Ceres and Modesto. They are the same family and they use the same name at their restaurants, but when one location sells gift cards, the other locations will not accept them! It appears they claim to be one family business in order to make their business look big and strong to the community, but they really misrepresent this to the public and their customers, because if you try to use a gift card, they will make it clear, that they ARE NOT THE SAME BUSINESS! This really disappointed me, because as a customer I trusted them, but whatever the differences are between their families, they should not put their customers in the middle. This really caught me off guard and I almost did not have enough cash on me to pay the bill. This could have been really embarrassing. They should have different names if they run as separate businesses and they should not sell themselves at all their locations as one family run business, this is highly misleading. I have been coming here for years and was previously happy! This visit ruined it for me, terrible service, terrible food, misrepresentation of their restaurant name on gift cards and when I complained, they were really rude. This location in Turlock has really gone down hill. I will have to think twice before ever trying to come back.
